david ross facing new charges after overpowering a corrections officer and kidnapping him, thanks for joining us i'm wendy ryan. >> and i'm jamison uhler, a wild scene coming to an end after deputies recaptured the inmate. >> let's go to ashley yore who is in bartow , how was the prisoner able to overpower the officer? >> utility knife, the five prisoner crew was on a lunch break when this prisoner was able to overtake the corrections officer and actually locked the other prisoners into this building right here. take a look at this picture, this is 42-year-old david ross, ross handcuffed the unarmed officer, took him hostage jumped in a truck and headed

the polk correctional institute identified ross and detectives led agencies know ross was on the way there. 1 1/2 hours after the kidnapping deputies found the stolen car and took ross into custody and then they found a corrections officer at a store, he was able to escape from ross, he tells our crew he's doing just fine. ross is behind bars on multiple charges including battery on law enforcement officer and fraud. ross was going to be released in february 2019 but now he is facing a whole list of new charges including kidnapping. reporting live from bartow, ashley yore abc action news. take a look at the university of nevada, las vegas where clinton and trump will square off tonight in the third and final debate. less than three weeks to go until election day, tonight the
