trump's last chance to confront clinton and try to regain some momentum as the latest polls show clinton pulling away with the lead. maggie ruly, abc news, washington. our partners at politifact did fact checking on statements last night. one hot topic was immigration reform. >> hillary clinton wanted the wall. hillary clinton fought for the wall. in 2006. or there abouts. now she never gets anything done so naturally wasn't built. >> what trump is referencing is in 2006 clinton voted in favor of a bill that would put up a fence along 700 miles of the mexican border but because the fence that she backed is not as large or expensive as the wall trump is proposing, politifact rates that claim as half true. hillary clinton quickly countered it -- that trump used undocumented workers. >> to use undocumented labor to build the trump tower.

workers and when they complained he basically said whwhat a lot of employers do, y complain i get you deported. >> politifact rating that also half true. it was not trump who hired the undocumented workers, it was a contractor who worked for trump who hired 200 undocumented workers to demolish a building to make room for trump tower. politifact also finding trump paid the workers to settle a lawsuit they brought for what they called horrid work conditions. our political susan mcmaness also watched the debate and says despite the rhetoric nothing really changed. >> the frustration for many people will be after the three debates they are still divided, no signs of how they are going to bring the country together and no real details on how they are going to fix big problems in this country. >> she also says she doesn't believe the final debate swayed voters much and won't have much impact on the election. elections officials in florida are testing voting machines as concerns grow about

the tests are happening in miami-dade county. each voting unit is tested for logic and accuracy several times before it can be used in the elections. jon bon jovi will be in tampa too promote hillary clinton. ? dead or alive? >> he will host a get out the vote performance. so far the location hasn't been revealed but we know he'll perform the weekend before the election on 5th. more details expected to be released soon. happening today -- president obama is heading to south florida. he'll be at miami-dade college in miami to talk about the affordable care act and the progress of providing all americans access acaffordable health care. the florida department of health reporting two new travel related cases of zika virus. one in sarasota county, one involving a pregnant woman.

with n.o.p.e. to hold their candlelight vigil. the organization's vigil remembers those who died from drug and alcohol related overdose. it will be at largo central park at 7:00 tonight. new information about a state corrections officer taken hostage by a prisoner in bartow. investigators say before the inmate escaped he locked four other prisoners in a room. abc action news reporter michael paluska explains how the prisoners catch ross. >> those four guys, in fact the police department wouldn't have even known something was wrong. until 5:00 this afternoon. if those inmates had not taken action they did. >> reporter: the bartow police chief says after noon prisoner david ross on work detail near the park got the jump on corrections officer jeffrey rexroad using a shank. ross locked the other prisoners in this building and took rexroad hostage driving a stolen city truck they headed

for 30 minutes no law enforcement agency knew what happened until the other inmates escaped. >> they were able to break the rope that was tying the door and get out as they came out there was a young lady that was sitting there in her car a couple of hundred feet away having lunch. >> reporter: they told her to call 911, then deputies and police swarmed the area from polk county to pinellas. police didn't warn the public because investigators were tracking the cell phone and didn't want the two-hour escape ended near a grocery store in pinellas county with no injuries. >> whenever my grandkids are here and they are out here working i take them in the house. >> debbie lives across from the park and wants to know why the officer wasn't armed and what the department of corrections will do in the future to keep her family safe. >> all this time these prisoners working here and you see what happeneded now. i mean it might happen again. >> that was michael paluska reporting.

4:43. officials are trying to figure out how a scaffolding fell from a downtown highrise. it happened yesterday on a 64- floor condo building under construction. a man who died, a 50-year-old ran from the scene and had a

a woman hit by debris was in a car and taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries. you can see the car there. two construction workers were also taken to the hospital with minor injuries. two more treated at the scene. the property developer released a statement saying it's working with city officials now to find out exactly what went wrong. police in kissimmee are searching for a man that tried to grab an 11-year-old boy walking home from school. the child told investigators that a man in an older model car offered him candy and cash. the the man jumped out and grabbed his backpack. the child was able to break free, ran home and called 911. imagine mail tossed in the woods like garbage. that is what postal workers found, and they are checking to see which mail carrier was supposed to deliver them. people in the neighborhood

is undependable. subway is offering a autumn carved dirty sandwich. our abc action news i-team uncovering on october, tuesday 11th, tampa subway on east adamo drive had to temporarily close. inspectors saw 20 live and dead roaches in several places. the state also found evidence of rats in the kitchen with more than 35 rode on the shelves, behind the bread warmer and rodent chew marks under shelves. we reached to the public relations manager, who didn't return e-mail or phone calls. just last week we reported on another subway closed by state inspectors which also found live roaches in the subway on south dale mabry highway in tampa. today career source polk will hold a job fair at the heartland community church in winter hello, everyone.

air will be bumping into that dry air up above. and we still have the easterly winds. so a few clouds, that is about it. temperatures in the upper 60s in south florida. low 60s to the north. the pocket of really cold air is still well to the north and west. obviously we have a couple of days to get through, even in the east today. eastern seaboard will be seeing temperatures above average for this time of year. so we have fall and then of course we have winter trying to take over and has done so, ju in the 30s, 20s of course in many areas there. for us it won't be that chilly but we'll be cooler than, certainly we've seen so far this season since last -- our cool season. so dropping back on friday night. and heading into saturday and sunday with temperatures in the 50s. widespread, even at the airport by sunday morning. before today and for tomorrow still another warm day with temperatures in the mid and upper 80s. our average high is about 84. we'll actually be above that today and below it throughout
