so we'll get back into the upper 80s by 4:00. nowhere near that coming up for this weekend. in fact i'll show you florida temperatures and then widen out. there's the cold front across the mid-section, so still a couple of warm days ahead. then this cold blast comes in. i'll let you know how cool we get over the weekend, in a few minutes. good morning. a crash at i-275 and gandy had most of 275 in st. pete blocked overnight. this is the scene earlier this morning. it possible fatal crash, we're still working to get more details on exactly what happened and who was involved. but all of that crash scene has been cleared and if you're heading out the door right now traffic is flowing nice lease at 275 and gandy. this is up to speed in both directions, 70 from bridge-to- bridge. we have one crash still in the

>> reporter: four other prisoners in fact. the police chief in bartow tells us that when the prisoners were finally able to escape they were able to call for help. >> they went to a young lady had her car and having lunch and told her what happened and call police. that's what happened and that's who called us. >> the police chief says noon yesterday david ross was on a work detail near shank on corrections officer jeffrey wexroad, locked up four other police officers into a room at the park. stole a city truck and drove to pinellas county with the officer as his hostage. he was caught two hours later outside of a pinellas county grocery store. meanwhile people who live in the area have questions about if prisoners should even be allowed to work in communities like this one. >> whenever my grandkids are here and they are out here

house. >> david ross is set to be in court this afternoon facing a long list of new charges. thankfully no one was hurt during this two-hour ordeal. for now reporting live in bartow, rodney dunigan, abc action news. 6:06. deputies in manatee county want to know who fired a gun sending a bullet into a woman's car. that 60-year-old woman says she was driving around u.s. 301 6:00 last night when she heard a lo door, didn't go through the vehicle, the woman wasn't hurt. deputies were not able to find the bullet. if you're upset about sewage discharges in st. pete you have a chance to let city officials now how you feel. the city council is planning to set up two public hearings about the wastewater discharges. we're expecting to find out the dates set for the hearings a little later today. they will also discuss reopening a wastewater treatment facility that had been shut down. it could cost $11 million to

environmental protection would have to sign off on the plan. at this point that is a big if. 6:06. iraqi special forces joined the fight against isis in mosul. we have video into the newsroom a few hours ago in fact showing the huge operation to retake iraq's second largest city. we're also getting new video this morning of families fleeing the fighting. the battle entering its fourth day. special forces set to lead the fight into the cy waiting. deputies need your help to catch the two men you see over my shoulder. they were caught on camera using stolen credit stole at a walmart after snea ing into a family's home while the family was sleeping inside. they used a garage door opener and entered the house through

6:11. thursday, a warm afternoon. starting nice with mid and upper 60s. jumping up to 20 degrees by later on with full sunshine today. just a few clouds. a lot of dry air on top of us, so titan doppler radar will be quiet. this dry air will dominate our pattern. in fact no rainfall even as the front moves. in the cold front we've been talking about, that slides in friday night ushering in coolest air mass of the season. i'll show that you in a second. temperatures in 10:00 a.m. then again diming back into the mid-and upper 80s, with full sunshine. then we'll fast forward to friday here. still warm the next couple afternoons. and then there's the front by friday evening, moves in. these are the temperatures by saturday morning. widespread temperatures in the 50s. the dew points as well. humidity will be crashing as well. so it's going to be the combination that will make it feel like autumn finally across

more on the details as far as the temperatures and what to expect for this weekend in a few minutes. 6:11. a disturbing scene in missouri where a mother says a complete stranger tried to choke her baby. the woman started screaming when the attacker grabbed the 4- month-old baby. the baby wasn't seriously hurt. security wrestled the attacker to the ground and the attacker was taken to the hospital a ukrainian church in new jersey but don't know why he was in missouri or why he attacked that baby. fined for parking in their own driveway. a san diego family says for the first time in decades the city fined them for parking just feet from their front door. the family says they got a citation saying their car was blocking the sidewalk and pedestrian access. they say their neighborhood is old and many of the driveways are not long enough to accommodate the vehicles parked

6:16. we now know the name of a deputy killed while responding to a domestic disturbance in northern california. we just got this photo of 31- year-old jack hopkins, the fourth law in california to die in the line of duty in the last two weeks. authorities say a gunman killed him in a rural desert area. that suspect now in custody but detectives haven't released his name or motive. hopkins had just joined the force last year. 6:16. imagine your mail tossed out like garbage in the woods. that is where postal inspectors found nearly, i guess a huge pile of mail discarded. this was all found in the woods

satellite feeds of that postal worker who witnesses say after dumping the mail just drove off as if nothing happened. dumping mail like this is a federal offense. the postal service is now responding saying the usps "condemns in the strongest possible sense behavior that jeopardizes the security and sanity of the u.s. mail or threatening to tarnish the level of trust that our employees work so hard to uphold." the postal service is now working to identify the carrier. i have another reason to buy a tesla. probably not going to happen though. the company announcing all new teslas now come equipped with full self driving hardware. that includes the much anticipated model 3 due out next year. tesla says the next one will be

engineers at the european space agency are waiting to see what happened to the mars lander. we expect an update later this morning. it was supposed to touch down on the red planet yesterday but scientists lost the signal from the orbiter and the lander and are worried the lander either crashed or suffered a fatal glitch. massachusetts woman still in shock after her -- she felt was a minor medical emergency turned into a surprise of her life. >> she went to the hospital for what she had a severe cramping and bad stomach ache. five hours later gave birth to a 5-pound 4-ounce baby boy. she said she was shocked, never had the classic pregnancy symptoms, no weight gain, no morning sickness. she even had a medical checkup with no hint she was pregnant. >> a lot of people are like why didn't you tell us? he came out of me and i'm shocked.

he thought it was a prank. he was eventually convinced that it was real arrived in time to see the baby delivered. the nurse had to drag him into the room. mom and baby doing well. funnel cake -- corn dogs, and more this weekend in brandon. >> the annual hillsborough county fair opens tonight. besides the fair food, there will are carnival ride, fair food, animal exhibits, fair food, special events and of course fair food. it runs 22nd to the 30th and at the fairgrounds on state road 60 in brandon. a man who never pass up a fried twinkie. >> never had one. >> i love the junk food -- it's fantastic. >> i love the junk food? >> i elephant ears are delicious. here's the problem with the fair though, it's probably going to be a little chilly so bundle up.

humidity not so bad. then by later on this afternoon we'll warm up as we head into the 4:00 hour. 87, we'll do that with full sunshine by the way today. very few clouds. then of course the big drop in tempt coming up this weekend. more on that in a few minutes. most of the morning we've talked about the crash in st. pete. captain al is flying over it now for a better look. what is going on out there? >> reporter: good morning. they are in the process of wrapping this up. 54th street. or that vicinity. eastbound side that lefthand turn lane you see at thep top, they are turning to the ramp to northbound 275, you also see a wrecker, they will move it out shortly and should be no problem for commuters. we're still seeing delays northbound i-75 through brooksville so if your morning commute takes you through here you may want to leave a little early. head to spring lake highway instead. that might save yourself time because it's a serious crash

there in the lanes of the interstate. your drive across the bridges, however, looking pretty good now. this is a live look at the howard frankland bridge, these cars here heading over in towards tampa and your drive times across the bridges are looking good. the drive on the veterans expressway, we are still in the green here, check this out, 18 minutes from 54 all the way down to 275. back to you. 6 : 32. democracy 2016 -- the big question, whether last night's debate will sway undecided voters. >> a lot of to some of the more heated moments in the final face-off. hillary clinton and donald trump turned up the intensity and also the personal attacks. it started off tense, the candidates as you see here skip the traditional handshake, and didn't look at each other, went straight to the podiums. both then took jabs at the other's positions on hot button issues. here's what clinton said about allowing refugees into the u.s.

people at the nightclub in orlando, the pulse nightclub was born in queens. the same place donald was born. so let's be clear about what the threat is and how we are best going to be able to meet it. >> clinton was talking about allowing refugees into the country saying we should vet them but not slam the door on everyone fleeing conflict. >> trump also tackling overseas issues suggesting the days old battle against isis in mosul was launched to help clinton >> the only reason they did it is because she's running for the office of president. they want to look tough. they want to look good. >> clinton responding saying that claim amazed her. the fight for mosul is led by a diverse 94,000 member iraqi coalition. the u.s. is advising on the effort to reclaim iraq's second largest city and isis' top stronghold in the country. the battle expected to take months.

debate watchers hillary clinton did. 52% picked clinton compared to 39% who picked trump. our political analyst has more on the impact. >> the frustration for many people will be after the three debates they are still divided, no signs of how they will bring the country together and no real details on how to fix big problems. >> she says despite the rhetoric nothing last night. dr. mcmanus doesn't believe the debate swayed voters much and won't have much impact on the election. coming up at 6:45. we hear from undecided voters we invited to the studios last night. on whether the debate helped them make up their minds. for this morning we're teaming up with politifact to share where last night's claims fell on the truth-oh-meter. ashley yore is live in the studio now. there was no doubt the debate was heated again.

and now we're sifting through what is true. immigration was a major issue at the debate. donald trump still says hillary clinton wants open borders. >> we have no country if we have no border. hillary wants to give amnesty, she wants open borders. >> reporter: mostly false. her plan would make it easier for some undocumented immigrants to st but clinton repeatedly called for border security. a 2013 speech transcript relady through wikileaks is not a complete picture. clinton says she was talking about clean energy. another hot debate topic, the second amendment. clinton defended her opposition to a supreme court case involving washington, dc banning firearms. >> what the district of columbia was trying to do was

pinellas county have an opportunity to elect a public servant who always put the people first, charlie crist. >> former republican governor turned democrat charlie crist is getting support in this new ad. the president notes charlie crist crossed political lines as governor to get things done. republican david jolly is running against charlie crist. jolly has yet to comment on the ad. more on the mysterious death of a 15-year-old boy in orlando. ve a fight over skunk spray. roger treendate was killed in rogers park over the weekend. a boy came forward saying friends sprayed him with with repellent. then someone else came over and punched him in the head. police are still awaiting a medical examiner to determine cause of death before filing charges. health officials want all

>> i'm going to check it out. meantime we check on traffic. janelle watching the roads. >> i've been watching the traffic cameras at i-275 at mlk. we have a crash, you can see the flashing lights. looks like the northbound exit ramp to mlk is blocked. captain al its flying over this crash now. is that exit still blocked? >> reporter: good morning. the ramp was completely closed northbound 275 exit reopened the lefthand lanes so you can make that left lane -- that left turn westbound on mlk but the right-hand turn you can see, emergency vehicles there. two vehicles involved. ppone one is a quite quoia i believe and in -- one is a white sequoia and the other is a leftbound vehicle. the good news, cars are getting by and actually people are

showers and thunderstorms. typically with a can happen here. we have a lot of dry air so not much difference as far as the moisture on either side, but there is a difference as far as the temperature and humidity. both will go down big time as we head through saturday morning. again a couple of more days of warm stuff, mid and upper 80s. there's the frontal position by friday into the evening. then we wake up saturday morning already refreshingly cool, into the 50s or very cold depending on y morning, dropping a few more degrees in the morning, then we'll go back on the way out. today still warm, upper 80s. above average for this time of year. then we'll go well below average, we're not going to hit 80, it will be close but likely stay there throughout the day, that is south of 80 degrees. then the very chilly mornings into the 50s. then a milder trend heading into the early part of next week. 6:51.
