renewing the american dream. i've spent my entire life in business looking at the untapped potential in projects and in people all over the woworld. that is now what i want to do for our country. >> and donald trump won after capturing wisconsin, breaking the 270 electoral vote threshold needed to become president. he wrote an support wanting to shake up the political establishment. >> hillary clinton called trump earlier this morning to concede the reyes and congratulate him on victory. before the race was called for mr. trump, clinton's campaign announced they were waiting for the final results and all votes to be counted. clinton is likely working on her concession speech right now. she is expected to deliver that some time later this morning. once that happens, we will stream that live for you on our

voters decided in the swing states, including here in florida. >> good morning to you. a lot of people watching those swing states overnight. many of you maybe have gone to bed before the states were called. we knew pretty early florida went red. after that was north carolina. heading up into new england right now and new hampshire still incredibly close to call. they are leaning toward hillary clinton this morning, but i did just check, less than 200 votes separate in new hampshire. nevada did go to clinton overnight, as well as wisconsin, but we are still waiting on results from michigan where, right now, they are leaning toward donald trump, crucial swing state there. pennsylvania also went to trump, a difference of just 70,000 votes between him and hillary clinton. again, michigan right now 16 electoral votes. another late call. we do expect those results coming up, i would say, in the

these states, new hampshire and michigan. we're going to run down the balance of power, how that is shaking up things in dc, what that means for this brand new administration. back to you. >> thanks, lindsey. frms let's take a look at the amendments on the ballot. florida voters backed amendment 2 with 70% of the vote, legalizing medical marian after a narrow defeat two years ago. abc action news reporter ryan smith got reaction of supporters who say this decision will change their lives. >> a group of heights erupting in cheers and chants after hearing that amendment 2 received some 70% of the vote, well beyond the 60% it needed to pass. its passage expands the list of conditions eligible for medical marian -- marijuana use. moving forward, the department of health will continue monitoring the list of florida

get signed off by a doctor who is certified through the state's department of compassionate use. there are only about 180 of those physicians in the state, but that list may increase after tonight. many here telling me amendment 2 gives them a new outlook on life. >> i could barely get out of bed in the morning. it will help with the side effects of the i'm currently on. hopefully after this passes, i can get off those drugs, because that's what i want to do. >> we did hear from folks representing the other side of this issue, the group vote no on two issue issuing a statement they are going to push state lawmakers to put limits on thc levels in some of those medical marijuana products. reporting tampa, ryan smith, abc action news. florida voters rejected amendment 1.

issues on the ballot. the vote was 50% against the measure. last week, the union withdrew its endorsement and demanded this after hundreds of its members xhaned. the ad, which featured a firefighter, implied that rooftop solar panels could be a fire hazard. critics said amendment 1 was a way for utilities to control the state's solar market. utilities plan the amount was supposed to protect consumers. more than half a million people voted by up early to vote. we spoke with supervisor of elections about concerns regarding possible voter fraud or voter intimidation. >> we had 16 early vote sites. over 14 days, 12 hours a day, and we voted 242,000 people. i saw no anything, no intimidation, no suppression, no fraud, didn't see anything. >> more than 145,000 people voted yesterday in person.

basically investors taking the first and ask later approach. elizabeth, abc news washington. 4:42. in florida's 13th congressional district, which includes the southern part of pinellas county, former republican governor turned democrat charlie defeating incumbent republican david jolly. serena shows us victory speech from the watch party in tampa. >> certainly, a significant win for charlie. the last time he won an election was back in 2006 when he was elected governor of this state. now, he's serving as a democrat for the 13th congressional district. before chris started his victory speech, he had a religious leader open it with a prayer. he thanked god many times as well as his family. he told the crowd he was humbled to be elected as, quote, the people's congressman. early polls predicted the 60-year-old would win. chris did have an advantage after redrawn boundaries, leaving this district with some

significance of this political comeback and what he plans to accomplish. >> being a public servant is a calling for me, and i do love it because i love serving people. i mean, that's what my life has been about. so i'm grateful they let me do it again. >> and what is your goal with this particular -- >> my goal is to fight for the people, you know, to look out for them, for our senior citizens, our environment, our kids in school. >> and he also addressed his opponent, incumbent david jolly. he said while the two men were opponents, enemies, and he wishes him the very best. with the campaign, i'm serena, abc action news. >> and we continue our team coverage on florida's 13th congressional district. abc action news reporter eric has reaction from david jolly's camp in st. pete. >> david jolly didn't talk like someone who lost his bid for reelection to congress. he celebrated his supporters, his family, and his faith here.

former governor. he did say redrawn district lines were a major factor. jolly butted heads with fellow republicans in congress and didn't support donald trump for president. he jokingly said people asked him if it was lonely taking on both parties. >> i'm going home. i've got a marriage to enjoy and a couple new dogs i've got to take care of. listen, i've always said at the end of my days, i'm not going to be defined as a member of congress. i'm going to be defined as a christian, as a husband, along the way, i'll be a member who served in congress. >> he didn't vote for donald trump or hillary clinton. he wouldn't say who he voted for in the reyes d -- race for president. not only did republicans win the white house, they also win the house of represent tefs and the senate. u.s. senator marco rubio will keep his seat for another six years. republican challenger u.s. represent tef patrick murphy. rubio beat murphy by more than 3,000 votes.

miami, rubio said there's no other nation he'd want to be than america. murphy was gracious in his speech. he thanked his campaign staff and everyone who supported him. republicans now have control from the president to the house and senate. everybody now wanting to know how this is going to impact policy in the coming years. abc action news anchor lindsey joins us now lye to break it all down for us. >> good morning to you. it wasn't supposed to happen this way. political analysts have been saying that for months. but incumbents, many out spent and with struggling campaigns managed to survive last night. it seems trump may have helped to carry the party in the senate. that includes right now marco rubio, again, as you said, who keeps his seat with more than 800 thousand votes over patrick murphy. here right now, the u.s. senate, they needed 51 to keep the majority. they have it right there. other notable wins, rand paul of kentucky, john mechanic cane of arizona. republicans also easily hang on

about 236. that's where the republicans are sitting right now in the house of representatives. trump was also no drag on the gop ticket at all, may have even, as i said, helped carry the party, the march into victory matched or exceeded these of todd young in indiana, and senator richard burr in north carolina. dana, we are going to continue to follow all of these election results, the balance of power. also, we're breaking it down for you county by county here in the bay area to show you exactly we voted and how that helped to shape the nation's vote. back to you. >> all right. thanks, lindsey. for some people who voted yesterday, they had a real spiritual dilemma. we found many stopping by christ the king church for mass, and the main topic was praying about what to do before they cast their vote. the catholic church was also a voting precinct. we talked with father lynn about what he's advising people to do going forward, even if they don't like the results. >> you have to continue to pray

over 36 varieties to fall in love with. publix. where shopping is a pleasure. well, good morning chl it is going to be quite a different day today from what we've been used to the last several days. all the sunshine and very nice conditions. we have a front rolling through today, just a brief interruption in our fantastic weather. we'll be back at it tomorrow. but s some moderate showers offshore. these will continue moving in. that front will continue to migrate further down the south taking along with it some cloud cover. will be locked in with some mostly cloudy conditions today and light showers will continue to move in. temperatures in the low to mid 60s will climb to the upper 70s. that's about where we'll peak as far as the temperature. and, again, throughout the day, the chance of some light showers with us here, and then we'll

south. we'll talk more about what happens behind it in the next hour. thanks, ivan. newsweek has been ready for whoever might win the white house. of course, now, we know it's donald trump. they made two commemorative covers. this morning, that cover will go to donald trump. frms this afternoon, the 21-year-old driver accused of hitting and killing the pinellas county school crossing guard is getting ready to make his first court appearance. just before 2:30 yesterday afternoon, 72-year-old david round jrn tree. authorities tell us roundtree was setting up school cones. neighbors say roundtree couldn't have been a nicer guy. >> he was just quite the gentleman, always nice, always had a mile on his face, was great with the kids. wave to you, waved back. everyday loving guy. >> the kids loved him. he took care of them. i just can't believe something like this would happen.

drunk when he hit roundtree. he's now charged with dui manslaughter. in hillsborough county, deputies are searching for two people who stole $500 worth of led lightbulbs from a local wal-mart. a man and woman stole 13 sets of headlights from the automotive section of the store. officials say the man paid for some items but then took off. anyone with information should call the hillsborough county sheriff's office. take a look at this. this was the scene outside plant city marshall's store. the driver of that drove right into the front of the store. officials tell tus driver suffered some injuries, but nothing serious. luckily nobody inside the store was hurt. officials believe the driver suffered some sort of medical episode. 4:55 i'm. this morning, donald trump is the president-elect of the united states. >> trump gave his victory speech in new york city very early this morning. >> tremendous potential. i've gotten to know our country so well. tremendous potential. it's going to be a beautiful thing. >> still ahead, we'll take a
