is live with an update from portion. >> it first began with a rush hour march but eventually the city was vandalized with business windows shatters and cars destroyed. police are calling if a riot, and they had to use tear gas to control the crowds. we're getting new information about the damage done overnight indicating vandalism at a cars at a toyota dealership and soot and ash left behind from fires. anarchists infiltrated the peaceful protest. people threw things like fireworks at police. officers in riot gear had to use tear gas to break up the angry crowds. police arrested more than two dozen people. >> we just seen they were walking by beating on my window, spitting on us. one of them slashed my front passenger tire and tried to break the window. >> if you're sitting there breaking fuse boxes, lighting

because you'reed off because-- >> for the most part protests were peaceful in most other cities across the u.s. a group did gather in ybor last night where police had to separate a group of protestors from trump supporters at a u.s. marine corps pub crawl. police created a human wall between the groups who ended up screaming at each other. trump has tw one, he says he loves that small groups of people are coming together, they have this passion for our country. in another one that he posted yesterday he blamed the media for inciting the protestors ending that tweet by saying very unfair. new developments this morning on a lawsuit involving trump university. president-elect trump may be open to considering a settlement. that's what his attorneys said at a hearing in san diego

institute failed on its promise to teach them how to succeed in real estate. a trial set to get underway in november on the 28th, but trump's attorney now says he'll ask for a delay because he says trump needs time to focus on the white house transition. a high speed chase overnight through two counties ended when the suspect slammed into a tree and flipped their car. it started in pasco and ended in a st. pete shopping center parking lot. at times a pursuit re the car eventually veered off the road on 49th street north in st. pete and ended up inside the publix shopping center parking lot hitting two palm trees before flipping multiple times. the two people inside amazingly are expected to survive. we spoke with a property maintenance group who showed up minutes after it all happened. >> not much happened, all this stuff, and just clutter and all

of nebraska avenue and columbus drive last night. first responders rushed him to the hospital. he had upper body trauma. he later died. so far there's no word about a suspect or a motive but police are still investigating. infeint investigators are take -- independent investigators are taking over a deputy-involved shooting in polk county that left the suspect dead. a woman called deputies to her home in lakeland yesterday evening. 53-yeaol john pointed a gun at them, they opened fire killing him. whoa witness who is saw the whole thick say that they were scared. >> well, she was almost in tears. >> i did, i grabbed her like this. i was like oh, my gosh. >> i mean it was loud. that close, especially when you have -- when you see cops involved, and then you hear gunshots. >> and you hear that, you know it's not good. >> the deputies involved were not hurt. they're both now on administrative leave pending the results of the

9:06 now, investigators say a martial arts coach had sexual contact with one of his students and now for the first time one of his clients is coming forward to defend him this morning. nelson nazario is charged with two counts of lewd and lascivious battery. hillsborough county deputies say the coach admitted to it. they say the girl was 12 during the first incident. nazario works at the undisputed fi calls the accusations false. she shared video of her own training session saying she trusts him. >> i have never seen any behavior that would be questionable. he actually makes it a special point to make sure everybody feels safe and comfortable. >> anna claims the victim's family has never trained at

welcome back, 9:13, hundreds gathered last night to pray for a fallen police officer and another who was wounded in an ambush attack in the pittsburgh area. 52-year-old officer scott baysham was killed early yesterday morning, his partner officer james sieva is recovering in the hospital after he was shot in the stomach. the community prayed, the mayor reflected on the number

police say the shooting suspect took his own life. authorities found the body of a pregnant woman inside the home where he was found dead. police believe he shot and killed that woman. more than 5,000 firefighters and support staff from around the nation are pouring into the southeast u.s. right now to try to suppress these wildfires. this video shows all of the smoke and some of the flames from that fire in north carolina. wildfires are burning in the southern appalachian mountains where turned pine trees into torches forcing dozens of evacuations. the effort to battle the flames include about 40 acres, about a dozen of the largest fires are uncontained. high wind and temperatures for weeks without rain have combined to spark these fires. a state of emergency has been declared in several of the states. meanwhile, take a look at flames that are ripping through a petroleum equipment facility

what caused this massive fire. their main concern is runoff because hazardous materials and flammable gas are stored in the building. that fire appears to have started in a garage where an rv was parked. a horrifying dog attack a california mother and her young son is all on camera. we do want to warn you it is disturbing. here's a look at the video right now. it starts out with that mother holding her 2-year-old autistic son. you see that one large dog runs dogs. the mother desperately tries to protect her son but then they find themselves surrounded. they're at the door right there. again, there's two dogs attacking them. a neighbor comes over to help, but the dog still won't stop. the mother and her son were both bitten. finally after another neighbor comes over to help, the mom and her child are able to get inside. the woman's husband raced home after hearing what happened to his family. >> big laceration in his face

streets amid transition in washington. demonstrations are playing out across the country again running well into this morning. >> this as the transition from one administration to another begins in the white house and also on capitol hill. >> protests continuing for a second day thursday. demonstrators angry over donald trump's election victory hitting the streets on both coasts and in the country's midsection. from new york to los angeles and up the coast to portland where police declared that the unrest had become a riot. >> you're all acting like donald trump. >> trump himself taking to twitter writing in part, quote, professional protestors incited by the media are protesting, very unfair that. coming after trump's rather unpleasant day in washington. trump meeting with president obama at the white house. >> very good man. >> the president-elect also stopping at capitol hill

pro-business president. the statement was referring to the transpark partnership, a trade deal some say hurts american jobs which the president-elect says he will end. the company released a statement saying new balance believes in community and in humanity. mr. trump might have to give up his private plane. trump will have to switch out his private jet for air force one. the military owned plain is equipped with special features to protect the commander in chief. in the event of a nuclear blast its special shielding will prevent it from being destroyed. air force one also has enough room for the president's staff. mr. trump insists on using his private jet he'll have to install all those expensive features using his own money. when donald and melania trump will be moving into the house in january, they'll be bringing along something the house hasn't seen in 60 years, a son. 10-year-old baron trump will be

rodney dunigan abc action news. this morning we're getting a glimpse of how officers and deputies responded to the pulse nightclub massacre in orlando back in june. newly released body camera video shows one officer pulling a long gun out of his squad car's trunk. at times the video goes to black so images of victims' bodies aren't seen. you can also see deputies with guns raised as they search the entire nightclub. blood covers the floor but most haunting >> officers on the scene said the sound of cell phones ringing that will never be answered will haunt them the most. the city of orlando is buying pulse and will turn it into a memorial. a toddler is recovering this morning after falling from a fourth floor apartment in miami. luckily that 3-year-old girl apparently landed in some bushes and did not hit the pavement. fire rescue officials say she was able to move her arms and legs and it looks like he's

investigators are trying to figure out the nature of her fall, including whether she fell out of a window or a balcony. new information about how genetically modified mosquitoes may be used in the future to fight the spread of zika in florida. >> voters in monroe county approved a test of the gmo insects and other counties in the state said they want to try it too. the scientists leading the project says the male lab mosquitoes reproduce with wild female mosquitoes to create infertile offspring. he says it's safe and cost effective and believes the places like key largo, miami and eventually the tampa bay area. a local state representative is among several leaders now petitioning the federal government to let pinellas county also try these altered mosquitoes. a family pet is on the mend after surviving an alligator attack in miami-dade county. the family was walking their dog hazel near a canal when they say the gator lunged up and pulled the dog into a bank full of water. the owner started throwing

them climbed down and grabbed the dog's harness. >> at that point my dad he laid down, my mom grabbed him by the ankles. he reached for the dog. was able to pull it out of the water. the gator finally let go. >> they wrapped the dog's wounds with their clothing and a vet was able to save her. yards away from where this attack happened is an elementary and a middle school guarded by a fence with a big hole in it and there are no gator warning signs nearby. i want to show you video of this is a bald eagle that got stuck in a storm drain in orlando. this morning we're finding out more about the bird's injuries and how the bird is recovering. the eagle fell into that storm drain yesterday after another eagle that was next to it flew away. crews had to shut down some roads. it took them 90 minutes to free the bird. a lot of you watched this rescue unfold on our facebook page. we did find out that the 5-year- old female eagle had injuries all over. the worst punctures in her leg,

after her concession speech, hillary clinton has been out of the public eye, and apparently she's been enjoying the great outdoors. a woman who was upset about clinton's loss took a walk with her daughters to clear her head and that's when she ran right into hillary and bill clinton out walking their dog. the woman says she was so happy to be able to hug and talk to the former secretary of state. she says president clinton even snapped this photo. she says she told take her daughter with her to cast a vote. we're now hearing from bucs defensive tackle gerald mccoy about the teenager accused of breaking into his house. the 17-year-old broke into mccoy's home just hours before the bucs lost to the falcons. the teen did fight with his father. the defense tackle taking a tone of forgiveness when talking about the teen. >> i would just and that people

yellow tones if we had any rain coming. this brings brings us all the way into tomorrow morning. you have to go way up into the atlantic ocean off of jacksonville to be able to find any showers tomorrow morning. if you're planning on grilling tonight, looking fantastic for that. temperatures around 5:00, right around 77 degrees. by 7:00 temperatures falling down to 72. so it will be another cool night ahead if you're going to be going out late this evenin extra layer, at least a light one or some long sleeves. temperatures tomorrow morning will be starting off near 60 degrees in tampa. we will have low 50s, possibly upper 40s again in citrus and hernando counties. with all that sunshine we do still top out near 80 degrees each day. we do have a cool front that comes through early saturday. you can see no dramatic changes in temperature. it's just going to help support where we're at. this next front, though it's a little different.
