safe. where and when to expect more officers on the streets. good morning and thank you for joining us this friday. i'm di a riley. >>and i'm dan shaffer. we'll start with a look at the forecast. >>big changes for the weekend, but for now we're in pretty good shape. starting off cool, but not as chilly as yesterday. temperatures across the bay area looking at upper 50s to lower capacities. this time yesterday we were running several degrees cooler. further nor we're still cold, mid river. all of us warming up this afternoon. we'll make it into the lower 80s. hit 80 at the airport yesterday. we'll be north of that later today. similar weather heading into saturday with plenty of sunshine and then we're tracking the next big storm that is producing blizzard conditions across the midwest, but we're going to tap into the cold air behind it. we'll talk about the numbers coming up for sunday morning in just a few minutes. we're watching cameras all

scenes of flashing lights on i-275 at fowler in the southbound lanes. there was a crash but it has moved off to the side. traffic is still light out there. in fact, we can check your drive times on 275 heading southbound. we're looking good out there, just 14 minutes to get from the apex to i-4 and six minutes from i-4 to the howard franklin brunch. at 5:31 just into the newsroom this morning learned a woman is serious injured in brevard county while she was loading groceries into her car last night. troopers say a passing dump truck broke an axle and who tires came flying off the truck and hit the woman. we're still waiting for word on how she's doing. a hillsborough county prior to wanted for battery is now on paid administrative leave after a bar brawl in the keys.

member of the outlaws motorcycle club. police say cameras caught him throwing punches in the middle of a biker brawl in key west. police say the fight started after an argument with a woman last september. hillsborough deputies need your help to catch a man who they say stole thousands of dollars worth of cell phones at the att store earlier this week in brandon. the phones were worth more than $2,000. there is a reward of up to $3,000 for tips that lead to an arrest. pinellas county deputies say they are releasing this video showing a suspected burglar roaming the gated community in oldsmar hoping someone might recognize him. deputies say he was in the east lakewood lands community over the weekend and broke into 12 investment detectives say he took a gps, sunglasses, even a 32-inch tv.

if you recognize the man call the pinellas county sheriff's office. an orlando man is fighting for his life after a fight over a bar tip. deputies say tuesday night the man left a tip on the bar. moments later a customer stole the money. the man ended up punching dunn and he hit his head on the ground critically injuring him. we're getting new video from police this morning, a ybor city brawl. people are fighting outside the bar early tuesday this morning. watch to the left of the screen. you'll see an unidentified driver hit the gas, plow into those people sending one man flying through the bar's window. luckily no one was seriously hurt. police are still trying to find the driver. if you drive, walk, or bike near usf you might want to be

extra patrols will be heading out they're handing out tickets who break the law. places like bush boulevard and fowler notorious for pedestrian and bicycle accidents. the officers say they hope they'll make drivers slow down without hassling pedestrians too much. >>it's a step in the right direction. don't abuse it, it will it will be a lot safer around here too. >>the tampa city council gave the program the green light yesterday but usf needs tampa officers to volunteer to take the extra paid shifts to work the area. the extra patrols should start to hit the streets in december. 26 till 6:00 now to the latest on the toxic sinkhole in mulberry. we've been going through more than a thousand pages of e-mails from the

protection. >>some raise serious questions about the future of the fertilizer industry in florida. a dep official told his colleague this is the 4th or 5th sinkhole in his time. he said "i'm thinking gyp stacks aren't entirely compatible with florida topography." when the sinkhole opened up in disappeared like pulling a plug in a bath opportunity of neighborhoods believe this is a long term issue. >>there's going to be more out there. you can bet on it. >>recent water tests have found contaminants in wells near the mosaic sinkhole, but the sinkhole is not the source of the con unanimous taking, they say. dep officials told us they don't believe gyp sacs are a concern.

he ended up doing $30,000 darth of damage trying to get the vehicle out. they believe he may have targeted her vehicles and hope somebody turns him in. if you've got travel plans, specifically flying this thanksgiving we have bad news. a major union at chicago's airport just voted to go on strike. about 500 workers have committed to walk off the job next week. this includes baggage handlers, cleaners, security officers, some of them work for private contractors. they don't expect to shut down the airport, but it could slow travel. o'hare is a major hub for american and united. if you're traveling to the midwest there's abeliaser under way there. we'll get to that as far as the temperatures. the moisture stays to our noter. we're waking up with temperatures milder than yesterday, still cold up to the north, mid 40s and low 50s, layers are necessary and by noontime we'll have temperatures

welcome back. the time is coming up on 5:42. we have an update on a story we brought you earlier this week. a sarasota day-care under investigation for leaving a child in a hot van during a field trip. >>and parents who complained say their kids are being kicked out of the school. >> reporter: good morning thank you. at least one parent went to facebook to vent about the incident that happened at the school. we've got the post here. he didn't hear about the incident from the day-care. then he posted this saying anyone defending the situation should be left in a hot car. well the school saw the comments and sent a note home with his 3-year-old explaining why she was being kicked out. the girl's mother is stunned that the school had time to check for negative social media posts yet never informed parents about the incident. most learned from

is this what they're doing to the other kids that are there that have voiced a concern or an opinion? >> reporter: we did go to the day-care. they refused to comment, and, in fact, told us to leave right after the incident. we do know that three day-care employees, including the director of the day-care had to complete an online course, and they also had to pay a fine. the department of children and families is currently abuse. dan, back to you. >>thanks, lindsey. 5:43 daily service for the cross bay ferry begins monday. the ferry just announced a value pass. starting next week you can buy 20 tickets for $100. the first three days of thanksgiving weekend will be fremont the ferry will start serving -- will be free.

very little moisture associated with it. it will just move through like the last few fronts have done with just a band of clouds. it's a strong one here. we'll have gusty winds through the early part of sunday. sunday morning this is how it's going to look with temperatures in the low to mid 40s and a bit of a wind chill, so it'll feel like the 30s. we'll be in the 30s by monday morning. not to get too ahead of ourselves, it's still nice and mild this low 80s. and tonight even milder than the last couple of mornings. we're looking good. boaters for the next 48 hours you're in fine shape, but by sunday the winds will get with you a small craft water temperature in the low safeties. big changes for the weekend, staying dry but as the front moves through there are the highs. i showed you the lows, but the highs on sunday, that's something different. that's

week ago in new york after a grand jury in hawaii indicted her last month. the indictment came four months after a judge said there wasn't enough evidence to charge her. she is scheduled today to tell a journal whether she wants an extradition hearing. shocking video out of arizona where a police officer caught on cell phone punching a woman in the face. even more troubling just before it happened the officer turned off his the police chief claims the mom kneed him in the groin before he punched her. but the woman is calling for justice. >>nothing's ever done about it. it's hidden or nobody's believed. >>it's not what they were highered to do. they're not supposed to hurt. >>the officer is on administrative leave pending an investments the chief says the fact that he turned off his body camera is also being addressed. halloween candy and tree

survival for a family in washington state. they went for a drive tuesday with their 2-year-old and 8 month old on a remote logging road when their van got stuck. they set out on foot, but when it got dark jason decided to camp for the night, if you will. he tied tree branches together and created a shelter against a granite wall as temperatures dipped into the 30s. he questioned whether they'd make it out. >>maybe the night we spent worried about the wife and the babies freezing to death or something. >>the next day they decided to return to the van where they spent the next night eating leftover candy. the next morning they started walking again and ran into a couple of hunters who drove them to a store. toys-r-us is offering holiday quiet shopping hours for families with autistic children. the chain is testing the idea of
