essentially blaming the family for the shooting. up until a little while ago the mother thought they didn't have a place to live and then you stepped in. >>reporter: that's right, and i just got a call from the tampa housing authority who tell me they have canceled the eviction notice. they said they acted prematurely and without enough factual information. take a look at what the letter did to that family before i gave them that good news. just one day after bringing her daughter back home from the hospital ms. simmons was hit with this eviction letter from the housing authority.>> they had no compassion for me and they were not filling my pain. >>reporter: we got a copy of the notice, the words should this family so soon after gun violence did the same. take a look: is that she is getting kicked out for two reasons. first, they claimed the father of her four children were living there illegally,

screaming and hollering my neighbor mac i ran outside and they said they were out here fighting.>>reporter: the fight between the two happen in the middle of the night. witnesses tell us the two tussled outside of the home, the younger one soon ran off leaving his father out in the street bleeding. >> i lifted up his shirt and saw the wounds to his chest. i applied my right hand to apply pressure.>>reporter: the neighbor did all he could to keep him alive. >> he air. i kept talking to him and telling him to stay with me.>>reporter: he was soon rushed to a local hospital and didn't survive. >> it brought tears to my eyes this morning. >>reporter: johnson doesn't know why the two were fighting, but another witness as the younger man told his father " don't you ever touch her again." i guess he just snapped and stabbed his dad.

dozens of firefighters responding this morning after a fire was reported. it is about san diego, several explosions coming from propane tanks that you will this fire and at one point it spanned 2 acres in size. it took nearly 3 hours to get the fire under control. a busy highway shut down. luckily no one was hurt. the cause is under investigation and officials are bringing in an arson team to see if someone might've started this on purpose. parts of the country
