two crooks. surveillance videos capturing the pair using a fork to short circuit the atm. so far they have hit nine atms across the state. a man shot during a robbery of an atm was caught because he kept his car in drive. this is the attempted robbery, and we are just now seeing the video. two people approached the victim's his foot was on the brake, his car was still in drive, and he hit the gas and took off. deputies said the decision may have saved his life. >> that is something that could help you in the situation like that. we suggest anyone who has to go to an atm, do it in a well lit area and during daylight hours. >> the victim was struck in the arm, but he is doing okay. police have two leads on the case.

accused of killing a martin county couple and biting off part of the man's face. last august austin fled a family dinner, randomly walking around for 2 miles, ending up in a couple's garage. he brutally beat the couple to death and th manatee county deputies said steve francis broke into a woman's car and stole $7,000 in valuables, but he has now bonded out. rapper gates was found guilty and sentenced last month for an assault caught on camera last month. he says the fan attacked him, and his attorney calls the jury's verdict inconsistent

a warning this morning for bay area homeowners. people are walking door-to-door selling magazine subscriptions saying part of the sales will go to benefits like the ronald mcdonald house, but the problem is that they don't fund raise door-to-door. >> i felt i was trying someone, and it was awkward. he left, and i felt scammed, and i said i should know better than that, but i didn't. i was trying to do the right thing. >> you want to help out a charity, instead of giving money to a door-to-door solicitor, go to the website and you can donate directly.
