we we do say hello on what is turning out to be a busy tuesday morning. i'm kendis gibson. >> and i'm drjashton in for diane macedo. fast moving wildfires forcing evacuations in a popular resort area of tennessee. >> this video from inside one popular hotel, you can see the flames surround the building. the dry and windy weather there fueling the fires over dollywood where people are being brought to safety. overnight, fierce flames and blinding smoke racing across the tennessee mountains. >> oh, my god. we need to leave. >> reporter: the wildfires engulfing the resort towns of gatlinburg home of dollywood. >> we relocated 19 families that were staying with us in our

relocated about 50 of our guest room guests here at dollywood. >> reporter: officials ordering everyone to leave calling the fire unpredictable. >> we're dealing with a situation here that is very dynamic. it's changing every moment. >> reporter: dramatic video posted online showing people evacuating. the roads barely visible from the smoke and the flames creeping closer to the road. 15-year-old logan baker inside a gatlinburg hotel stuck because the onl closed. >> we're on the first floor because they had to break the windows on the upper floors because we were suffocating from the smoke like so bad like we were on the ground suffocating. like we were flat. you had to lay perfectly flat or the smoke was like just too thick -- we had masks but it was even too thick for the masks. >> reporter: the fire moved faster than anyone expected.

fires were coming up over the hills, the flames came up into the parking lot. so then they told us we had to all stay inside. >> reporter: the sue chef at that hotel posting this terrifying video on facebook flames surrounding the building as smoke fills the room. he later wrote, they're all safe. we should point out logan told us he and his family have been evacuated from that hotel. a bit of relief there and a bit of relief for the firefighters. the first is bringing heavy rain to the area right now. the second system moves in tonight. the other breaking story we're following is a plane crash tragedy. >> charter aircraft carrying a brazilian soccer team went down in a mountainous area near the colombian city of medellin. you can see the plane circling around several times before crashing. >> new images show the dark crash scene and low visible, the

so far there are several confirmed survivors, 72 passengers and 9 crew members were on board. the pilot reported an electrical failure before the crash. a facebook video showed the team preparing for the flight earlier monday in sao paulo in brazil. they were supposed to play in a final match tomorrow, the mayor of their town says everyone is in tears, of course, we're going to continue to stay on top of this breaking news story throughout the morning. >> so sad. this morning, c attack on campus. a student plowed his car into a group of pedestrians and started slashing people with a butcher knife. he was killed by police. >> investigators are looking into the life of this somali born student who is responsible trying to see if the attack was terrorism. abc's kenneth moton is in columbus. good morning. >> reporter: good morning, kendis and adrienne. the crime scene tape is down but the active investigation continues here at ohio state university.

but they are working to figure out if his motive was terror related. confusion and chaos on the campus of ohio state university. >> fire department, this is osu. we have a vehicle that struck several pedestrians. >> reporter: investigators say he clump of jumped a curb and plowed into several people. he got out armed with a butcher knife and started slashing. >> don't go to campus. there's an active shooter. cop, alan ho rougerujko killing suspect. suspect. >> the cop was forced to shoot him. >> reporter: there was no active shooter but the terrifying scene and the officer's shots parked panic. osu students barricaded themselves in classrooms and the university tweeted active shooter, run, hide, fight. >> i ran into a bathroom. luckily it was just a single stall and was able to lock

osu student 18-year-old abdul razak ali artan, the school newspaper says this is the photo of the somali immigrant and legal u.s. resident. investigators say on social media he was upset about the treatment of muslims posting on facebook, minutes before the attack, i can't take it anymore. >> certainly authorities need to treat this as a potential terrorist attack. >> reporter: police and the fbi are searching his home for more clues but leaders in the muslim community spoke out urging people 23409 to jump to conclusions and falsely link this tragic incident to the faith of islam. kendis and adrienne. >> kenneth, we've learned a little bit more about the hero cop who killed the attacker. 28-year-old ohio state officer alan horujko was at the right place at the right time. he was in the area where the attack took place because of a gas leak. he saw the entire incident play out and shot the driver less than a minute after his car jumped the curb. >> certainly could have been

there. meantime, donald trump's transition team is promising a number of important announcements. one, tom price to secretary of health and human services. price is a surgeon and vocal critic of obamacare. he believes the law interferes with the ability of patients and doctors to make wise medical decisions. for secretary of state, mr. trump also considering retired general david petraeus. the former cia director was forced to resign for leaking mistress. petraeus may also be a contender to lead homeland security. as he left trump tower yesterday, he said the president-elect has a great grasp of the challenges facing the u.s. and the world. and the president-elect holding a second meeting with mitt romney also in the running to lead the state department. members of trump's inner circle including kellyanne conway have publicly voiced opposition to romney because of his recent harsh criticism of mr. trump.

t the strange sight on an australian highway. the driver of that suv you saw there is actually unconscious after a minor collision, two other drivers are trying to rescue him. finally one manages to open a door, get in and stop the vehicle. police aren't sure if the 30-year-old driver had a medical issue before the collision or after. >> wow. the man charged with killing nine people at church in south carolina is now acting as his own attorney. a judge agreed to allow dylann roof to be his own counsel. roof dressed in prison garb sat at the defense table and participated in jury selection. some family members of those who died now worry that the trial will become a spectacle. also in charleston a white former police officer charged with killing an unarmed black man set to take the stand in his own defense. michael slager is expected to

walter scott at least seven, no, rather eight times as he ran away. video of that shooting shocked the nation. prosecutors arguing that slager shot in self-defense. workers are expected to walk off the job today at 20 airports including chicago's o'hare airport. they're holding a so-called day of disruption to call for a $15 minimum wage. janitors, security guards and baggage handlers are among the airport workers protesting. despite a weekend full of online deals cyber monday 10% from last year. some websites couldn't keep up including nordstrom. reports on twitter said websites for banana republic and the gap and old navy had problems also. well, about to become safer to post a negative review on sites like yelp and tripadvisor without the backlash.

where those fires are burning as you can see there on our map. snow in the rockies and northern plains will make things slippery. wet roads also in the northwest. if you're flying airport delays possible along the northeast corridor from boston to washington. as well as in atlanta and new orleans. now to a bizarre incident at houston's airport. a passenger pulled open the emergency exit on a moving plane and jumped onto the tarmac. >> she was quickly captured by police. but it's not the first time that someone has misused those here's abc's david kerley. >> reporter: passengers on this jet were stunned. >> this lady just opened the door and jumped out. >> reporter: landing in houston from new orleans but not at the gate yet the emergency door is gone. as well as a passenger. spotted on video obtained by kprc, she is seen running across the tarmac towards the terminal but authorities quickly realize this is not a threat, but a medical case.

good morning from the weather center on a tuesday here. warm and humid out there. if you've been outside it's feeling a little more like late fall here or early fall instead of december almost. upper 60s right now. think about that, we almost haven't gone below we can certainly run well below that. 58 in tampa or st. pete. we were warmer yesterday than sunday, and now we're warmer than monday, in fact, by a good 5 to 10 degrees with chances that our temperatures are going to be quite high for this afternoon as well. there are the dew points and

tropical and the frogs are singing through the overnight hours, but we're getting close to where we talk about 85- degree weather combined with those dew points well into the 60s. a little sticky out there for us. south to southeast wind continues. it will be gusty at times for today. a frontal boundary won't get here until thursday. energy being left behind push, everything east and south, but again that won't happen until thursday. for us that will mean just a few showers, not the severe weather that is ongoing in the forecast here across the deep south and into the gulf, through the tennessee valley that continues to be an issue for today. you'll be able to see that southeast wind and our front not moving that much. we'll stay warm and humid until it gets here, today, tomorrow,

showers, especially to the north i think the showers will continue to decrease as the front continues further south and east. look at the clear air behind it. that's nice. that will be hours for late thursday and into friday, and that will get us back to temperatures average for this time of the year back in the mid-70s instead of mid-80s. your futurecast, close up shot, partly cloudy skies, a couple of showers offshore but i'm not thinking much as f rainfall here. that will be thursday, and even that won't be all that much with temperatures in the mid- 80s. in fact, we're going to end the month one of the driest novembers in history since we've been keeping records, and we're going to end it on a warm spell as well with temperatures in the mid-80s for the next couple of days. by the way, tomorrow morning still mild, mid to upper 60s so no jackets or sweaters required i don't think.
