17-year-old boy, and an 11-year-old girl, with assault rifles. >> she said that there was a knock on her door, and she answered the door. >>reporter: this isn't the first time we've met the young victim's grandmother, daisy fisher. >> you need to turn yourself in. because i'm praying. and i'm praying that you will be caught. >>reporter: she was the family's spokesperson during an emotional press conference in july of 2015, after her other grandson, adam williams was shot during another attempted home invasion at the eagle reserve apartments. his killer z hadn't been caught, leaving the people here to had the same fate. >> that's what they wanted to do to my other granddaughter, they wanted to do a home invasion, but my grandson, was in their way. >>reporter: we tried to ask orlando police if the two crimes were possibly connected but because of today's mlk holiday, the public information office is

belong to him. >> that doesn't -- >> jim gordon confirms he has not seen his neighbor, dennis jones for a while rs he's not the neighbor to call to report him missing. >> you didn't think to call the police when you haven't seen him for a month. >> we weren't that tight. >>reporter: neighbors did get a call from someone to check on his well being. they brought in aca kavr dog to track down -- cadaver dog to track down the remains. >> they are working closely with the detectives to identify the remains. >>reporter: neighbors did not know much about jones. >> i ran into him a couple of times. >>reporter: he had a dui conviction in 2012 and a domestic violence charge that was dropped in 2014. the victim in that case is not known tonight. neighbors tell us a woman and her children had been staying in jones home without dennis for weeks. >> they also say she has been driving his truck which deputies found parked up the road.

where the truck was parked said the woman could not park it at jones home last night because it was surrounded by deputies. >>reporter: and deputies are still out here, right now, but it seems they are done gathering evidence. we saw them doing that earlier this afternoon. the medical examiner should have an identification on that body. in the next coming days. we're live in lake county tonight, channel 9 eyewitness news. a small town in ohio is grieving today after a police officer was found shot to death in front of the police station. they live in a small tight knit community of 6 police officers and it really hit home when the body of officer thomas was found in front of the police station last night. his police gun and cruiser had been stolen. >> this is a close community and everybody knew everybody, and helped look out. and he was trying to keep us safe and we're safe and he's not.

office arrested this man, hershel jones as the primary suspect, his exgirlfriend called 911 warning that jones was quote, looking to kill an officer. well, in the final show down before the iowa caucus, the democratic candidates did not hold back. hillary clinton and bernie sanders were neck-and-neck in polls, feuded on almost every topic, during last night's debate, clinton accused sanders of flip flopping on gun control. his d-minus voting record with the nra. health care, clinton claims sanders want to dismand l the affordable care act and replace it with his own healthcare plan that he unveiled hours before the debate. >> that is nonsense. we're not going to tear off the affordable healthcare act, i helped write it. >> i'm not sure whether we're talking about the plan you just introduced tonight or the plan you introduced nine timess in the congress. >> so when the topic of bill

for approximately 200 feet. the driver was not injured. an old leesburg citrus packing plant burned to the ground saturday night and state investigators are working to figure out how it started. at the scene now and cathy, the property also houses a fuel company, which made for a very tense situation over the weekend. >>. >>reporter: that's right, this is where the fire broke out, obviously, look at how close to it this fuel tanker is, and then, not too far away, on the property, these fixed fuel tanks. building was dangerous and was to be torn down if the owner did not make extensive repairs. the old lake county citrus sales packing plant fell dmoun a pile of charred rubble. leesburg firefighters got here fast and were able to prevent the fire from moving towards the fuel tanks on the property because it also houses lake sumter fuel. city leaders say there were code violations over the building's

budget and safety concerns for some of nasa's biggest programs. the concerns are already having an impact on plans for manned space missions. >>reporter: the heavy lift rocket, in the orion space capsule, for nasa, these are the immediate future. key programs that are set to ultimately help bring space flight to mars. >> i think everybody agrees that the long-term goal is to get human presence, colonies on mars. >>reporter: but dale with space florida says new reports highlight what people in the space industry have been worried about, concern about the safety and sustainability of these programs. the nasa aerospace advisory panel pointed out budget and time pressure are increasing the safety risks. it says that the test program for components of the rocket system have eroded gradually over the past five years. and that could increase the risk for man aed space missions that are planned in the next five to

i have a friend in town from texas, 59, talking cold, this is nothing. 58 in cocoa beach, and nel burn, 59 the village, leesburg. so we're all pretty uniform on our temperatures, the north wind giving us a wind chill tonight. temperatures, this is the actual temperature, without wind chills factored in will be in the low 40s by 4:00 o'clock in the morning. mid 40s but a wind chill factor taken 5-8 degrees off of that. feeling like the 30s, for most of the late night, early morning hours, the actual low, 39. wind chills 34. in orlando in the morning, 37 leesburg. a light freeze possible for marion county, right now, the cloud deck is really moving through, so i think we'll keep it out of the freeze zone for most of us, there's no freeze advisory tonight, but tomorrow night, we're going to be even colder, and with lez cloud cover, i do expect a freeze in parts of the area tomorrow night. for orlando, mid 50s, only mid 50s at 4:00 o'clock.
