ponce inlet -- >> indoors away from windows. >> thank you for joining us for eyewitness news at noon. starting a new broadcast with the tornado warning and this is the most rotating storm we've had really of all the el nio systems in central florida. at least in this part of the to florida right now. brian, we go back to the live radar you can see the time lapse. abandon the data. that will be over the isle burrow air. getting closed -- getting close north side of new smyrna beach, ponce inlet get indoors, tornado proportions, lowest level -- tornado precautions. lowest level, probably not enough time to leave hunker down where you are as storm cells move in. this will be in the notch we

tornado on the ground right now but certainly radar indicated tornado and that's why the weather service has issued the tornado warning as they have but you only have it moving in now. where you are hunker down where you are now on the north side of new smyrna beach, edgewater will be to the north. officially in the warning area terminates. here is the highway a1 a, up atlantic avenue and toward 5 a north of isle burrow. that was where the highest threat for potential tornado could be. south the port orange, daytona beach proper north side of this . you are in the clear as far as tornadoes are concerned. it will be to the south along a1a, atlantic avenue, ponce inlet. that is the focal point, brian, for potential tornado and in the next 4-5 minutes. >> we have been -- fdot camera pine trail, i-95.

network of cameras along i-95 toward the coast and we are going to have a crew on the ground in apopka watching storm damage earlier and they are storm tracking it for us and they will head up there and keep an eye on this. if we can pop that up. there is the live crew on the way. they are in orange county. watching storm on the tail end and they are headed toward volusia county and we have another crew in volusia county as well that is on the ground but again we need the worst weather to get through port orange, ponce inlet in particular tornado precautions as it moves to the east northeast at 30 files my -- 35 miles an hour. you need to be indoors and away from windows. find a room that does not have windows. harbor oaks, wilbur by the sea pigheaded toward you. tom coming you could see the notch. if there isn't a tornado moving across the ground on a1a. >> live radar.

port orange for twee one -- 421 wilbur by the sea. more central sections of volusia county where you go from green to red there is a gradient through here big colors changing rapidly. intensity in the storm so ponce inlet, marzullo north, ponce park here to the south. we go from disappearing island on the north side of new smyrna pants -- parents ponce park. it will be in this area here from wilbur by the sea south along s. atlantic avenue. a1a is here. you can see this coming on by moving over the full and working toward beaches. velocity not as impressive, brian. looking at some of the wind changes west of ponce inlet. of we get a brief touchdown we get them frequently out of this set up and usually they are

from ponce inlet south of portland north of edgewater. new smyrna beach proper, stay where you are because there is more weather moving in but the severe threat is going to be on the north side of new smyrna beach. ponce inlet just on the south side of port orange. >> that is a hail marker popping up. >> again, strong to gusty winds outflowing from this particular storm that move over to wilbur by the sea and ponce inlet. the we have an update on the warning? >> no update on the warning still in effect until 12:30 but this is going to be another 15 minutes, harbor oaks moving toward ponce inlet that no new update tracking a possible tornado. >> this is i-95 we have been talking about, brian. the heavy rain will be on the east side of this camera moving to the coast by ponce inlet and moving offshore. let me wide in the perspective to get everyone an idea of what's going on. what else is going on?

tracking now and a line of showers and heavy downpours moving through metro orlando. we have wind and rain comes through. this is the story to the north, this cell had wind energy to work with and continues to show some signs of rotation you can see that notch working in from the south. that storm cell is moving offshore and about another 2-3 minutes. that storm will be quickly moving out north of new smyrna beach and we -- it will be gone. still heavy rain behind us we have a severe thunderstorm watch affect until 5:00 officially by this man because it was all the way down to south florida and they will be the last to see the rain move out. for us it will probably be after 2:00 and we will have most of the stormy weather moving by. here is a severe storm watch, taking out counties to the west with the rain has moved by but you see the one tornado warning just about ready to move offshore and the rest of the area, slight chance for some additional rotation mainly just strong winds but make sure you

getting a lot of spin but along the coast the difference in the friction between land and water does not take much to get an isolated spin up. we will monitor the sell off ponce inlet and back behind it heavy rain farther to the south near new smyrna beach and there will be rain for at least another hour to 2 hours. we talked about this. the timing between 10-2 or 3:00 and that is going on to this day. lots of stormy weather but i think the worst is moving offshore of ponce inlet and volusia county. >> and there is a broad picture we will still watch the tail end of it tom terry with brian shields in severe weather center 9 as we track this potential tornado. looks like if we did have a tornado it was when we were on air with you just over the last 10 minutes. the worst of it just about cooling offshore -- pulling offshore. morning until 12/30 but there's a broad picture you can see the back end of the line. we will watch the 7 parts of that orlando south through kissimmee where we have not had

the american -- environment more right forcing showers and storms. the warning until 12:30, tom, but again, >> it is moving off. >> this is the time lapse and you can see the big red bulge sliding by. that is it. looks like the worst is going to move off of new smyrna beach, ponce inlet right now. get into the open waters of the atlantic get it another half hour or so before you try to venture out. we have a rain and lightning on the backside of this but this appears to be the worst of that particular storm cell that is along the coast quickly moving east at 30 miles an hour to the north of new smyrna beach. brian, the warning is effective until 12:30. let's take a broad look here and see we have anything else to keep track out of this volusia county wiped they may let this expire early because as far as we can tell, here, looks like the worst is moving

is now hours away. line is that, abc news, washington. right now orlando police are talking about the woman who disappeared without a trace 10 years ago. is a live look at the news conference going on now. that is jennifer kesse's mother speaking. the 2 detectives working her daughter's case say they want anyone who knows anything about her disappearance to come forward. we had extensive coverage of the search for jennifer in 2006 and investigators say she was last contacted by phone at her home on conway road. police believed that she left for work the next morning and she has not been heard from since . they later discovered her car in a complex not far from the low -- her home and found grainy video showing someone, you can see the video, walking away from it you cannot see anything from the video. orlando police chief says the case will stay open and active. >> we will never forget jennifer. we will never gave up our search to find jennifer.

new england high school student who saw a man peeping through her window called orlando police chased him down. as steve barrett reports officers say when they got to her house they saw him standing at her window. >> -- format dominique told investigators he regularly walks home to some of the yards in this neighborhood you are looking at here just for fun he told them.

ponce inlet the only rotating storm we had today. this is the rest of the activity you are watching. it is not to be appear as night as threatening. heavy storm toward mount plymouth and 6 minutes. heathrow, debary 22-27 minutes and if you're in orlando, indeed it has started raining but it looks like the worst of the punch of the storm system has moved to the east now. we are watching good thunder behind this cell over by clermont and 27 as they continue to move through and this is a live radar showing showers from the meadow woods subdivision northward toward orange avenue downtown orlando. still about another couple of hours of heavy rainfall we have a live camera showing from daytona beach and you can see the i-95 corridor with slow moving traffic that is near daytona and live daytona beach camera wet and windy along the coast. lots of changes. speaking of windy, the weekend. >> no doubt.

north and officially that is a severe thunderstorm watch until 5:00., and i will be here all day to monitor the exactly what is going on with the watch but you can see the watch starting in the realm marion, sumter counties already out of it but the massive system, huge winter storm, blizzard conditions toward dc. we are getting the tail end. warm sector. watching stormy weather in that when you see tom terry later today at 4:00 things will gradually be improving and we will be looking better into the evening hours. we will turn windy and called sharply. 8:00, rain storms, i-4 to the east. 5:00, we could have a couple of leftover ones and then after that, still a couple of clouds but overall we was see a clearing trend tonight and you will hear the wind howling tonight and tomorrow. look at the winds they are not gusts. sustained winds 20 to 35 miles an hour. on saturday what that will do is usher in a winter blast for us.

the potential severe threat . going over temperatures, 60s and 70s for the rest of today. tonight 40s. you do not need to protect your plants yet because of the winds will be with us tonight and it will be called, 49 orlando and a wind chill in effect for tonight. look at tomorrow. it is hard to get a day like this in central florida. north end zones, we are going to be stuck in the 40s for daytime high temperatures. temperatures about 15-20 degrees below average and again, winds are around for sure. five-day forecast, where the weekend is always in view, again, 40s and 50s for highs tomorrow. sunday, morning, a lot of 30s around and that is cold enough but it will be windy, wind chills widespread in the 20s sunday morning. 58 sunday, a chilly day overall and then after sunday we start to warm up 69 on monday, 73 on tuesday. coming up, though, we will update what we are seeing on the radar as we watch out for the potential still of stronger storms moving through. vanessa? a brevard county woman convicted of a cocoa beach hit and run will spend the next 10 years in prison.

the injured in the crash. brevard county reporter melonie holt spoke with the victim's family. the family members say it's a fair sentence. >> reporter: michelle simkins offered an apology to thomas gregory and his family for the new year's eve 2014 hit and run crash that left the boy seriously injured. the family says they believe that is only because the reality of michelle simkins situation finally sink in. we were in the courtroom when the judge sentence simkins to a decade in prison. +5 years probation for the cocoa beach hit and run crash along, boulevard. thomas gregory was playing with friends when he was struck by a vehicle driven by simkins. instead of stopping, witnesses said she accelerated causing even more injury to within -- to thomas gregory. >> prison time for our family is fantastic because we would like to see the maximum for what happened to us but the fact that there is conditions after that, that make sure that she is integrated back into society and is responsible and
