coming up at 6:00 a firearm's instructor and 30-year nra member who said it would create more problems than it's intended to solve. there's breaking news in brevard county after gunfire erupts near clear lake middle school. deputies are working to sustain the scene here in cocoa. one person was shot and airlifted to the hospital. we're working to find out if there's been a second person injured. ahead at 6:00 our crew is checking with deputies about what might have led up to the shooting. orlando police believe a teenager who was shot to death may have been targeted. they want to find out why. the shots rang out in front of an apartment complex off conroy road near kirkman. a second person was also hit. kathy belich has been following the police investigation. this is another young life cut short by gun violence. >> reporter: that's right. the big question is why, who and where are they now. detectives appear to know more about this than they're willing to tell us and they're willing to tell us very little.

gunmen are still on the loose. >> orlando detectives were back at the scene of the deadly shooting today looking for more evidence to help catch the killer. we're told the shooting was not random. 19-year-old jacob almond of oviedo was killed. we cannot find an indication he's been in trouble with the law. >> scott woodbury heard a series of six shots after he had gone to bed. >> how was that? >> it was kind of scary. >> another eyewitness who did not want to be identified told us he tried to help almond who he said was shot in the chest. >> me and another next door lady tried to do everything we could to try to keep him going until the police got there. >> both eyewitnesses said they heard about a half dozen shots. >> it was like four or five it was like execution style. >> we're told almond and another man who police are not yet identifying were both shot

apartments and the victim who survived ran across the street to get help. >> reporter: we found out opd has been called here to the serano and the summer gate condos about 30 times over the last year, mostly for trespassing. police believe someone here saw something that could help them catch the killer and they're asking whoever has information to call crime line. it's confidential and there could be a reward if your tip leads to an arrest. you can find the number on wftv.com. reporting live in orlando, kathy belich, channel 9, eyewitness news. city leaders say the timing is key for a major incentive package to bring a ucf campus to downtown orlando. the city will hand over 15 acres of land and a building at create a village. it's valued at over $75 million. the project still needs money from the state and approval from the board of governors. mayor

kennedy space center brought thousands of people to florida's space coast. now a new spacecraft which is being assembled will carry astronauts further into space. the o ryan is expected to take them to mars. melanie holt got an up close look at the capsule today on the new frontier of space travel. >> there's a lot of steps before we get to our milestone of launch. this is an important one. it's important to commemorate these steps. >> today we got a first look at the spacecraft designed to carry astronauts deeper into space than ever before. >> this is nasa's o'ryan module pressure vessel. >> it will take about 18 months we'll have several months of testing after that both here in florida we will bring the spacecraft back here. >> from there the spacecraft

space walk in 5 hours to test how biological samples survived in space. they installed some special devices to make it easier for crews in the future on space walks. last month one space walk was cut short when water started leaking inside an american astronauts space suit. the florida legislature is fighting to be dropped from a lawsuit challenging the state's congressal maps. core -- corine brown said it violated laws. vincent pastu had fought to get rid of a position in brevard county. now the city has to find someone to fill it until a permanent replacement is found. his last day is march 4th. he's been with the city less than a year. of if you recently stopped for gas in osceola county credit card skimmers might have stolen

>> devices were found at pumps at three 7-eleven stores in the tourist area of kissimmee. julie salmone is following this investigation. the sheriff's office said so far no one has reported fraudulent charges on their accounts. >> reporter: the sheriff's office is asking that customers now monitor their account. the three gas stations that were targeted are within the tourist area. you can see the amount of traffic right now on 192. one of the 7-elevens that was hit is the one behind me on the corner. >> the osceola county sheriff's office gave me a photo of the skimming device that employees found at a gas pump at a 7-eleven store on champion's gate boulevard in kissimmee. so far three devices have you been found at three 7-eleven locations yesterday and today. >> the locations include two

gate boulevard in kissimmee. >> if a skimming device is acatched it should fall off if you pull on it first. >> that tip doesn't always work. the sheriff's office said this time the device was installed inside the gas pump. >> the individual who placed that device in the gas pump does not have to retrieve the device in order to get the information. >> the sheriff's office is now reviewing surveillance video to see if they can identify a suspect. one customer i spoke with said she paid inside. >> i trust the cashiers more than any machine that could take my information within a second. >> reporter: the sheriff's office always suggests that you pay with a credit card verses a debit card. reporting live in osceola county, julie salmone, channel 9, eyewitness news. a house committee has approved a bill that could change the way that cash assistance benefits are calculated for florida families

right now if someone is an undocumented immigrant right now their income doesn't count in determining eligibility. counting that would save the state $239,000 a year. >> if someone is not legally in the country that portion of the household income is not counted. it is as if it doesn't exist. >> the bill wants to include the incomes of undocumented immigrants and the over all household income totals. the measure must still be approved on the house floor and the senate. at 4:00 you heard from a local woman who said she was attacked by a stranger at her home. >> when i spun around he punched me in the face. >> the steps her neighbors are taking to keep it from happening to anyone else. >> plus this woman said a work at home job ended up costing her thousands. 9 investigates found out she's not the only one. >> a woman is fighting to keep

there's still no decision in a 10-year fight over a million dollar lottery ticket. the woman trying to keep her ex-boyfriend from getting half told the judge how he bought the ticket herself. roy ramos was in court today. she also said that wasn't the only time the former couple didn't share big winnings. >> reporter: bob, she said they both participated in a raffle to win a car while her ex-boyfriend won that vehicle but never saw a cent. >> okay. so you reach in your pocket, you pulled out what? >> $20.

one raffle >> at that time. >> it's an on going battle that started with the purchase of a $20 millionaire raffle ticket million. lynn poirer said she bought the ticket but her ex-boyfriend howard browning said they had an agreement that if either of them won they would split the winnings. >> she's trying to paint the picture as if the parties were estranged. >> this wasn't the first time the two had cashed in. years before browning and poirer entered a raffle to win a ford mustang. browning won. >> so he won? >> he won. >> did he said we have an agreement to share anything so i'd like to give you half of the mustang? >> no. >> we heard testimony from poirer they were not in a relationship at the time the ticket was purchased but both admit to being in the gas station at the time to ticket was bought. it's up to a jury

split in two. >> he just wants his half of the money. the money that bought the ticket was the money that came out of his pocket. >> reporter: testimony from the plaintiff and defendant are now complete. we do expect to hear closing arguments tomorrow. we will be there for that and bring you the verdict. outside of the seminole county courthouse, roy ramos, channel 9, eyewitness news. there's a new petition aimed at convincing state lawmakers to pass bills that give ride sharing service uber more freedom. the house already passed legal conclusion related to uber. the petition drafted by a group called speak up for uber is asking the senate to pass a bill to ensure that uber isn't regulated like taxi companies. so far they have gotten 3,000 signatures. a nearly 9 foot anaconda found is going to be euthanized. an animal control officer captured it on woodberry road in melbourne.

the snake illegally because it wasn't tagged. this was the second anaconda found in brevard months. the other was in november near state road 50. an orlando man is being held on an $11,000 for a string of jake blare would open sliding glass doors at the resorts to steal electronics. deputies say a woman worked as his look out while he stole from guest rooms. they were arrested last week and facing felony charges. we're asking the company that owns fulton's crab house in disney springs about some upcoming lay offs. levy restaurants filed to get rid of more than 200 jobs at the river boat-themed restaurant between april 4th and april 18th. it's part of major renovations there. we told you last year when planet hollywood announced 500 people would lose work during a remodelling project.

we had a breezy warm afternoon. a storm system we're tracking will be here by this time tomorrow. pretty quiet tonight kissimmee, st. cloud. temperatures in the mid to upper 60s by daybreak in the morning and melbourne one example of who will get some of the rain later in the day along our southeast coast in brevard county. a mix of clouds and sun throughout a warm afternoon and then better chance for rain again by the early evening. tomorrow a full 80% rain chance. that may be a bit deceptive. it's not an all-day rain. the first part of the day until noon will be nice and then temperatures climb into the low 80s, we get a better coverage for rain late in the day. here's the storm that's bumping into this ridge of high pressure slowing its progress. it will move in late in the day tomorrow. here's the lunch hour. you had the first half of the day without issues. showers in gainsville back down to tampa. some scattered thunderstorms.

official out look for severe weather for tomorrow. we're not we thunderstorms along the coast late tomorrow. a couple showers through the early part of friday but friday over all will be cooler and breezy and we'll get we have our next storm system which we'll be watching moving in late in the day on saturday. this is the european model showing more rain in our southern zones. our high in south florida. we'll get on the edge of it here late in the day saturday through the first part of super bowl sunday. i don't expect to ruin your weekend. five day forecast with the weekend always in view, first part of the day good. latter half will be wet. we'll keep track of any storms. windy and certainly cooler as we get into a much more progressive cold front pattern. front after front on the way through next weekend. a group who wants to legalize rape plans to meet up in orlando this weekend.
