half to two hours of this. the cold front hot on the heels of this storm. we're going to get much cooler weather overnight tonight. let's me zoom into doppler radar. we're keeping track of the storms moving northeast at about 30 miles per hour. they are lined up from the heathrow area west of deltona. zoom in closer and there's some thunder along state road 44 out of deland past the pine lakes area. orange city, debary and deltona in the next 15 minutes or so. lightning strikes around also daytona beach. we don't see this usually in february, more like the middle of summer. ahead of this cold front it's still raining in palm coast, flagler beach and dunnellon. the rain moves out tonight and then i have lots of winter weather to talk about. >> we will see you then.

, a mims convenient store clerk is talking about how he disarmed a would be robber. this happened at the sugar creek gas station. melanie holt is in mims right now. this clerk told you worse things have happened. he told me when i know -- when this suspect walked into this store he didn't have time to think. >> you may have seen the video of a mims store clerk turning the tables on an armed criminal last month. the 34-year-old army vet said today it was just muscle memory and good training. >> the robber came through the front door over here, walked around, caught me when i wasn't looks, turned around and he was standing there with the gun and told me to put the money in the bag. >> david dick who just happened to be in a superman shirt when he caught up with him at the

said he served multiple tours in iraq. fearing he might be shot at home when he saw an opportunity he took it. >> that was number one in my mind, get the gun away, remove the threat and, you know, hopefully detain. that didn't happen. >> after the suspect took off running david dick realized something was wrong with the revolver, it was an air soft gun. >> it made me more upset. >> the sheriff's office is still looking for the robber. on the agency's website it said the suspect will probably think twice before taking on another vet but added they never encourage citizens to actively engage criminals over money. david dick agrees. >> pay attention to what he's doing, what he's wearing, the style of car. you can be a hero that way. >> reporter: after this robbery david dick told me he just cleaned up the area and went back to work. live in mims,

new 4:00 we heard how a brave 13-year-old boy was when he called 911 to tell police that he had been molested by his neighbor. >> the 53-year-old daytona beach man is now behind bars on charges of kidnapping, child abuse and lewd battery. blaine tolison spent the last hour listening to the boy's call for help. >> john mooreland the man who lives in this home behind me and is accused of molesting a 13-year-old boy is a military veteran. the victim's family told me it's one of the reasons they trusted him. >> a 13-year-old told police he fought 53-year-old john worling in his daytona beach home before he escaped and called 911. >> my neighbor molested me and was touching me. >> do you know where your neighborhood is right now? >> at his house. >> worling faced a judge , accused of molesting the boy

>> you have been charged with kidnapping, aggravated child child. >> the victim's family was not home at the time of the alleged crime but said worling worked the boy's stepmother even said worling would buy things for her stepson. >> he bought my stepson a pair of shoes, a bag, got him a $50 prepaid visa card for christmas, a stocking full of candy. >> worling is a certified airline pilot and army veteran. he does not have a criminal record. he was armed with a gun shortly before his arrest and threatened to kill himself. >> worling is faces felony charges including kidnapping and aggravated child abuse. he's being held in the volusia county jail with no bond. reporting in daytona beach, blaine tolison, channel 9, eyewitness news. right now a federal judge is deciding whether a group of

case to get a lawsuit filed by corin brown dismissed. the 36-page document filed yesterday takes aim at brown's argument that florida's new districting plan violated the voting rights act. now it will go from jacksonville to west of tallahassee. days of the iowa caucuses the presidential candidates from repairing for a primary election in new hampshire. with it just five days away all campaigns are taking off in full force. ted cruz beat donald trump in iowa but so far trump is leading in new hampshire by 20 points. >> i think i would use trump. the reason is that trump has proven already that have he's completely valuable. i don't think he has any fixed opinions that he would really go to the white house and find for. >> hillary clinton and bernie sanders are the only two democratic candidates still left

they will debate tonight in new hampshire. abc news hosts the next republican debate this saturday. christopher heath will be live on facebook for live analysis during the debate that starts at 8:00 on channel 9 and followed by eyewitness news at 11:00. someone has nominated republican presidential candidate donald trump for this year's nobel peace prize. many expect that to fall by the wayside. other include the greek island group welcoming syrian refugees. we're covering marion county tonight and digging up new information about a fatal deputy involved shooting. one deputy was hurt when this scene unfolded outside a gas station last night. myrt price has been looking into the suspect's second. he's been in trouble before. >> reporter: yeah, he's faced numerous arrests here in florida and in other states. in fact, when that confrontation happened

suspect was on probation. it shocked me. >> vince poe said he couldn't be believe it when he got the news that his friend, cristiaan dubrino had been shot and killed following a shoot out with marion county deputies here at this gas station. i came over. i was just about to here. >> the confrontation with night. deputies say they were dispatched here after getting reports that dubrino was armed. deputies found dubrino with one gun to his head and the other at deputies. deputies pleaded with him to put down the gun. >> please put the gun down, man, please. >> dubrino got on the phone and paced around his car and later got in. the video doesn't show what happened next but the sheriff's office said he started shooting at deputies and they returned fire.

out dubrino was wounded and deputy daniel trammell was also hit in the leg. dubrino later died. >> dubrino has been in trouble before and was on probation for trying to run away from police and for resisting arrest. he's also been arrested on numerous other charges across the country including kidnapping, battery and assault with a deadly weapon. >> we went to his apartment to talk with his family but no one answered. >> reporter: now, the sheriff's office said the officers that were involved in the shooting have not been placed on paid leave. in fact, they say they are actually just taking some time off because of everything that they've gone through. we tried to reach out to the family of the suspect but they said they're too shaken up to talk to us right now. live in marion county, myrt price, channel 9, eyewitness news. two managers at the department of veteran's affairs have been given their high level positions back despite using their position to make more money.

we have a crew on the way there and we will bring you updates when we get them. there are dozens of law enforcement records that include allegations against an ocoee police officer. that stack of records doesn't explain what was or wasn't done about the former cop accused of having ties to the west orange gang. >> the investigation was to prove there was no investigation. shannon butler tells us a year after those claims we still don't know if the allegations were true and nobody seems to be able to answer why. >> this is brad dresher, former ocoee police lieutenant. police officers said they had different informants who said the same thing, that dresher was being bought by a gang with money and drugs. >> they were on the narcotics task force and told their boss what they heard. >> what did the task force do with this information as far as you know?

a bill that would turn off florida's red light cameras cleared a hurdle in tallahassee. george estovez is monitoring the story. they believe those controversial cameras are more trouble than they're worth. >> reporter: yes. what happened today with the red light repeal is kind of a big deal. the fact that the move to ban cameras made it out of committee is important. the issue, do they make us safer or just a way for the government to make more money by giving us more red light tickets. >> tickets given at intersections across central florida with red light cameras could be a thing of the past. >> cities aren't moving towards making intersections safer by adding counter measures. they're installing red light cameras as a revenue source. >> senator brandis said it's a
