hurt. roy ramos is there now. roy, in the last few minute s you spoke to the police chief about this shooting. >> reporter: that's right. we will hear from him and what his thoughts were. this happened inside the building behind me. we have been working to find out how at least three suspects made it past those doors and inside with weapons. investigators are still working to find out what led up to this chaotic scene after shots were fired inside of the glitz ultra lounge nightclub sunday morning. 12 people injured in total, two who died after three suspects opened fire. three officers were working extra duty at the club saturday night and reported hearing the shots fired but what was the role of officers working at that club. i asked them and they told me the officer's role is a standby presence and usually at or near the front of the club.

extra duty do not do the basic security checks like pat downs. we just spoke with chief john mina. >> that was not a random act. i'm confident belle be able to bring this case to a close ure -- closure. >> reporter: detectives do have suspects in this case but are not saying anything else further. we have received the initial incident report. i'm going through that right now and i'll have if it has any names of the victims or identities of the possible suspects on eyewitness news at 5:00. roy ramos, channel 9, eyewitness news. detectives are still looking for at least one gunman in the shooting death of a teenager and young man at the florida mall. we've been following this story since friday night when it happened outside jc penney. kathy belich is live now.

>> reporter: that's right. they'll say the shooting was not random but that's about it. it happened outside the jc penney close to the building just before 7:30 friday night. the store was still opened but no one else was injured. an orange county deputy was in the store dealing with shoplifters when the shooting happened and got to the shooting within seconds. the two victims were found 100 yards away from one another. investigators say someone else was involved but won't say anymore. they say it was not a murder-suicide. 20-year-old andrew garland who was from south florida was found dead outside a car, 19-year-old samuel destin survived but died later at the hospital. we checked florida records and neither one of them was in trouble with the law. the sheriff's office was called here more than 4,000 times last year.

there were violent incidents such as strong armed robberies here but nothing like a double shooting that was deadly. reporting live at florida mall in orange county, kathy belich, channel 9, eyewitness news. another shooting at a popular place has police looking for another gunman this afternoon. friday we told you 21-year-old andrew jones was shot and killed at this clermont publix in the east county center plaza along state road 50. investigators haven't said what the motive was but myrt price has been working to find out if they made any headway. he'll have a live report in the next hour. the orange county sheriff's office will make a push to get guns off central florida streets. they will hold a gun buy back event this saturday. anyone can turn in a gun with no questions asked with an id and receive a $50 gift card. it will be held at the orange blossom trail development building. our next cold front is moving in tonight.

has had nearly 3,000 calls to wildlife officials about bearing getting into the trash or yards. bear proof trash cans aren't the only way to keep the bears out. tomorrow county leaders will look at a site to see if they should put up a fence along i-4. some commissioners say if they can get across i-4 they can get into more neighborhoods. osceola county detectives arrested two teenagers for the violent robbery of a local cab driver. a taxi driver was sitting in his cab in the walmart parking line on vineland road in kissimmee. today detectives said a crime line tip led to the arrests of the two teens. they are charged with theft. just about an hour ago lawmakers in tallahassee began debating a bill that may put bars. the civil citations

what was supposed to be smooth sailing turned into a nightmare at sea for thousands of passengers on board a royal caribbean cruise ship. >> they got caught up in a storm with 30 foot waves and 100 mile per hour winds. melanie holt spent the day finding out what will happen to the passengers now. they were set to arrive at port canaveral. >> the decision was made to turn back around and head back to home port in new jersey. >> the anthem of the seas is headed back to cape liberty. royal caribbean told us today

florida lawmakers are considering a house bill that could permanent alimony for people. jeff deal found out this is an emotional issue for people on both sides watching the bill closely. >> i was married for 21 years and i was a homemaker. >> ann dwyer considering her fortunate she was awarded lifetime alimony. even with it the 71-year-old is working three part time jobs. >> when you're out of the job market for a couple of decades you're not earning social security. you're not saving any money for yourself. >> she's against doing away with lifetime alimony but some people who are putting support behind the new legislation have

but they didn't want to talk to us. live in clermont, myrt price, channel 9, eyewitness news. we're still waiting for orlando police to release more details about a shooting in the metro west area. antonio jones and another were found dead in the stonebridge reserve complex after 7:00 p.m. once we find out more we have an update. new fbi numbers show more people want to buy guns in florida and across the country. we checked and the fbi conducted more than 120,000 doing background checks last month in florida. nationwide there's an increase in background checks of 47%. there's 16 confirmed cases of the zika virus throughout the state of florida including one

anesthetic. >> the knot on her head, her nose was swollen and all teeth were missing. >> he's facing dozens of lawsuits from angry parents. he denies hurting any patients and has voluntarily given up his license. in brevard county commissioners will be asked to write off close to $7 million in unpaid emergency medical services bills. patients have stiffed them on $6.8 million in ambulance transports during the budget year that ended september 2014. the county said it makes five attempts to collect the money but when patients don't pay it's considered uncollectible and written off. commissioners will decide on the tomorrow. once a week pick up is coming to some spots in orlando and neighborhoods are bracing for a backlog. trash pick up passed through that neighborhood today with any success.

d up out there right now. they were picked up today and they will be picked up again on thursday. starting in two weeks those bins will only be emptied once a week under the new pilot program. the pilot program spots will get an increase in recycling pick ups. after nightmares we covered in orange county like mised pick ups people are understandably concerned. in some cases in orange county trash was not picked up for weeks until we arrived to cover the problem. the goal with the change is to encourage residents to throw less away and move more into that recycle bin. something some out here admit they are not doing right now. >> see, we've been here for a month and don't know when recycling is. we just started throwing everything in the trash can because we never saw the

more than a dozen cities in central florida are on board with the program that would use cell phone pings to help control traffic. congressman john mica is trying to secure federal funding for a pilot program. the first hurdle is getting cities to agree. how many other cities still have to say yes. >> there are already sensors along some of the areas busiest streets so fdot officials can know how many people are traveling through here every day. >> i would definitely give it a thumb's up. >> people like sandra mateos are happy it could play a role in easing congestion too. getting places quickly is a top priority but traffic can have other plans. >> my area, altamonte springs is congested. >> we told you when congressman john mica said he wanted to start a pilot program on the roads.

this afternoon a group of parents against proposed charter schools hit the streets to voice their concerns. protesters held signs and passed out fliers to inform other residents. they said there's no room and need for them and the traffic in the area will be unbearable. >> it's going to turn into basically a parking lot for people coming from outside of the neighborhood. >> next week orange county commissioners are scheduled to meet to discuss the future of these two schools. a training exercise in deland could have gone very land for a soldier when he got tangled in power lines. >> since he never hit the ground he walked away okay. these pictures show the sky diver stuck in the power lines. soldier carlos esparsa drifted into the lines. emergency crews were able to cut the power and cut him down without anyone getting shocked. >> it was not grounded thankfully. >> that's scary. well, another cold front is
