this is channel 9 eyewitness news at 11:00. new tonight, cruise passengers on a ship that was tossed about in a storm just returned to port. now family and friends are anxiously waiting for their loved ones to get safely on lands. after a frightening few days at sea a cruise ship is back in port. >> finally the anthem of the seas returned to shore after it ran into -- you just talked to

passengers on that cruise ship jeff. >> yeah, martha, they are relieved and elated when they finally saw the cruise ship that their son and daughter-in- law were on and we were there to share in the moment. >> this is the first video from new jersey tonight as the anthem of the seas pulled into port just before 9:00. you can just make out the passengers watching as they approached land. >> oh, wonderful, you're safe. >> bob and lipped linda couldn't help but cheer when we showed them pictures of the people that were there. it hit rough weather on sunday. >> many harrowing hours of rough seas. >> 30-foot waves caused damage like this. these videos were taken by passengers on the ship. the couple was on their way to the bahamas and was going to

but the ship headed back to jersey instead. the couple received a text from them today. >> we're anxious to hear from them. he said he will call in the morning. >> bob said his son and daughter-in-law had been looking forward to this trip for quite a long time. now it's unclear whether they will get on another cruise. >> it's got to be very disappointing for them. too. >> and royal caribbean says that they will refund the passengers for their trip. they will also give them a 50% off of their next cruise that they book and they are just happy to be home tonight. i'm sure all the families are. reporting live in coco, jeff la. right now temperatures are falling fast as central florida prepares for a chilly or cold night. >> tom terry has been warning

warnings and tom, some areas are already seeing temps in the 30s. >> 32 in marion county right now. this really felt like a rock as wind subsided. it will be a freeze all night for you. 37 the villages. we're down to 42 in sanford. winds starting to back off that will let those temperatures fall faster tonight. frost advisories to the south but a good scattering of frost throughout much of central florida. 32 in the villages. we will see a lot of kind of pockets of freezing weather mainly in the northern half. i'll be taking a closer look at who else could see a light freeze, including when the 70s make their triumphant return. our team of meteorologists will be tracking the falling night. they will have the most up to

starting at 5:00. we will be checking with dea agents to see if they find the 12th person connected to a heroin operation they say is run by a 74-year-old woman. hauled these 10 people to jail yesterday. they are accused of trafficking heroin by the kilo. we got a look at some of the guns and even a kilo press used to package the deadly drug. this was all brought in during the investigation. a brevard county deputy accused of sexual misconduct with an inmate. he was arrested then fired. today investigators determined taylor had engaged in an inappropriate relationship with an inmate. there are questions about why or orlando firefighters had

more than 400 firefighters trained inside them and about a dozen actually removed tiles that contained dangerous asbestos. >> did the city know about it? yes, they had the test results. now, did the fire department know about it? that's another question. i don't know. >> we asked who if any in the fire department was responsible for making sure buildings were safe but the fire department hasn't given us a clearance. we found out a pregnant woman was shot inside glitz lounge. the police are still being pretty tight lipped and the victim's attorney said the pregnant woman was shot in the wrist. >> and they are attorney told us this happened while she was running for her life and tonight she is too scared to even talk about it because she still has more questions been answers.

drug trafficker. we found no evidence tying the men to trafficking. >> the letter is gone threatening to shut the club down. we tried to reach out to the club owner but he has not responded to our phone calls. we are live tonight in orlando. covering orange county, the town of eat onville is under alert for a water main break. this is the second time the pipe has broken in less than a year. cold weather may have actually caused the pipe to break this time. now residents are dealing with lots of inconvenience. >> we have got to constantly put bleach into the water so we can flush the toilets. we have no pressure with the water. >> now the pipe has been fixed but crews are still working to repair. two women are accused of beating an elderly man just to

we were there today when tosh a mullins and britney were arrested. deputies say 74-year-old ronald let telly into his house. then she let mullins inside a few minutes later. mullins started hitting the man with a cutting board. his sons were there when those women were arrested. >> i wanted them to see my face and apologize to me for what they did to my dad. they wouldn't look at me. >> neighbors told us the women were caring for 2 children. one of them was placed with a family friend. 53-year-old found unresponsive. he later died at a hospital. now police need to identity the person in this picture because they believe he is a possible witness and could have information. as the fantasy sports

from day care back in october. he suffers from dementia. his son said he was not being treated for his bipolar disorder. marion county deputies are holding a man without bond saying he held a woman hostage and caused a standoff. calls were made about an argument in a home. investigators say when they got there jose was holding a knife to the victim's throat. eventually he was convinced to release the woman before he was arrested. attorneys for a deputy caught on camera with a group of deputies punching a suspect will be in court tomorrow. former deputy jesse indicted late last moment for this incident that was caught on surveillance. he's facing several charges for wrongfully beating that suspect. his trial is set for next month. it could be weeks before we

a stabbing will be charged as adults. in a so called gang war. arrested 15-year-old and -- who are accused of stabbing. right now a claire month police officer is fighting for his month after suffering burns over 20% of his body. chris cruz was standing by a bonfire when a gas can exploded near them. tonight he is at the hospital heavily sedated and medicated. doctors have given him a 50% chance for survival. a hit and run driver hit this home. >> i knew it had to be pretty fast. >> the destruction that just barely missed the homeowner's daughter and granddaughter. we'll be in the 30s before you know it with frost and freeze advisories advisories posted.

allowing that cold air to drain on through. also some patchy areas of a light freeze over by geneva, mainly the rural areas. the blue is kind of a light breeze. look at this cold weather all the way back to marion county. so we're going to see some cold temps tonight. 36 orlando. 33 in leesburg but lots of low 30s and a brief freeze up to the north. but a more extensive freeze in ocala. the rest of the area less than an hour if you even get a freeze at all but it's going to be frosty. daytona, a nice day for you. we're back in the 60s making progress to the 70s, daytime highs tomorrow, 66 in apopka.
