jeff deal has working new developments. you spoke with a woman's boyfriend who has three other children with her. >> reporter: he told us he was with another child at the dr.'s yesterday afternoon and found blood on the floor. he lives in the home to write -- directly behind the apartment complex. they searched the area and complex and came up with nothing. we still do not know where the baby is. this was the search into the night orlando police scouring the willow bend apartments looking for any sign of a newborn baby girl who just disappeared yesterday afternoon. >> i'm sad about the situation but it should not have gone that far. >> reporter: johnny says his girlfriend of 12 years was the one who gave birth. he does not know if he is the father of the girl police are not calling baby willow. investigators responded to the complex after evidence of a childbirth was found in the parking lot. brian says when he returned to

floor. >> i asked what happened and she told me she was all right and i said i'm going to call the ambulance that she can call the ambulance so i called the ambulance and they came and got hospital. >> reporter: at the time he did given birth. when he returned home detectives told him the baby missing. police believe the mother abandoned her. homicide investigators and crime scene investigators worked together evidence while crews and dogs came at the dashcam best the area but did not find the baby. people are wondering how a mother could leave a child behind. >> she said i had the baby when i came home. i called the ambulance. >> reporter: another sad part of the story is directly across the street you can see there's a police substation. she could have walked there and asked for help and folks say she could've asked for help from anyone around the apartment complex it at this point police have not confirmed the mother's identity.

live in orlando, jeff deal channel 9 eyewitness news. what is more heartbreaking about the story is what jeff mention the fact that florida is a safe haven state. the law allows a parent to leave the baby up to seven days old with an employee at any hospital, emergency services station or firefighter at a fire station. no questions asked. no criminal investigation will be launched unless there are signs of abuse or neglect. you probably have seen the yellow signs around. it seems they are everywhere. >> safe haven, 230 bases -- babies have been dropped at those places safely. some 30 or more were abandoned and left to die by their parents. hopefully that is not the case with baby willow. we will stay on top of the story that all of us have become invested in. this afternoon summit county teachers say they are fed up with being undervalued by district leaders. we have been telling you about the fight for the race since last september.

is a morrow county, field sutton , channel 9 eyewitness news. this afternoon volusia county teachers are criticizing a major expense by the school district's teachers say the district should not spend $300,000 on a consulting firm to find software that manages the budget billing and payroll. the district and teachers still have not been able to agree on raises. were waiting to hear reaction from the district to the teacher's criticism. us supreme court ruling struck down part of florida's death penalty sentencing is affecting another case in brevard county. prosecutors tell adjusted that they want to either qualify the jury or delay next week's trial for william woodworth. he's accused of killing two neighbors and trying to kill a third more than three years ago. the judge said at this point the only sentence he could get if convicted his life. a suspected valentine's day home invasion and ocala has taken a wild turn. investigators say the victim recognized one of their attackers. as a teenager who lived next door. and the teen returned later

victims and you heard he was a boyfriend. >> reporter: we are hearing conflicting stories about that. around noon today, orange county detectives showed up in the driveway with a man who lives here and told neighbors to call 911 yesterday after he said he found the victims dead inside. today orange county detectives are saying it was 36-year-old sanchez and her daughter, 16, destiny who were shot to death. the man they lived with on santa barbara rd. was brought back by three detectives and went inside with them. he went to neighbors yesterday afternoon saying he found their bodies. whoever did this has not been arrested and neighbors are scared to show their faces. one neighbor says the teenager seemed very nice. >> when i passed by she would always wave. she smiled when she waved.

storage of body cameras and recorded data. we will let you know if the proposal survives the session. a brevard county, state troopers have not made arrest in the hit-and-run crash that killed a morning jog her. yesterday morning, troopers say 39-year-old jason brandon guyer was running on satellite boulevard when he was hit. investigators want you to be on the lookout for the driver's vehicle they believe is a light gray chrysler that has front end damage. we are waiting for state troopers to tell us if anyone was hurt in this crash involving seven cars and -- and a semi-. sky witness 9 was over the turnpike between i 4 in orange county after 8:00 this morning. this crash briefly blocked siblings. daytona beach police have not identified -- have identified the hit-and-run suspect and they need help finding have investigators believe leslie deer trail was

the drug is called truvada and has taken -- it taken daily, it'd prevent a person who does not have the virus from becoming infected that the medical director of ucf student health services that the drug is now a part of the health centers routine practice. this is not the first time you step is taken extra cautions to protect evidence. last year the university outfitted its entire police force with the medication that can save someone from a heroin overdose. health services officials say there has not been any heroin overdoses on campus, however five people were taken to the hospital for overdosing on oxycontin. the osceola county school system says it is ready for an influx of students from puerto rico. we have been telling you for months how leaders throughout central florida have been bracing for the thousands of people leaving the island because of the crippling economic crisis. today channel 9's deneige broom as the district and union leaders have the system can accommodate so many kids at once. already one quarter of the

to the baby. today, maintenance crews cleaned up ed of child birth in the willow apartments. searching into the night for a missing baby girl, they're now calling baby willow. this afternoon, the mother, 30-year-old susan richardson, is headed to jail, on aggravated child neglect charges. >> when i came home, i just seen blood and i asked her what had happened and she told me she was all right. i said, i'm going to call the ambulance. you know, she said no, don't call the ambulance. >>reporter: johnnie bryant told us he didn't know what happened here. the police told him the terrible news. the girl was born here, and was missing. >> i know they can't find her, that's all i know, they can't find the baby. >>reporter: bryant says he has three other children with richardson, he doesn't know if he's the father of baby willow. richardson is known to wander the area, some said they didn't realize she was pregnant. but now, the people here are saddened by the news. they're wondering why the mother
