we are continuing to track rain and storms moving across parts of central florida right now. we have been tracking the rain throughout the morning. >>certified meteorologist brian shields is tracking when the storms are and what to expect later today. >> heavy pockets around other you are. the severe weather threat is greatly diminishing but we need to watch out for pockets of heavy rain and the chance for stronger storms. beginning with the radar, we will get into what is next. nine. you see it through brevard

it easy south patrick, satellite beach, rain is moving in sliding from about harmony, holopaw, osceola county back through brevard. resurgence their citrus ridge toured celebration couple showers popping up. a final batch just ahead of the cold front in marion county. new rain and a couple of downpours are popping up. we will see this for marion into sumter county's. while you may have sun now we will see another line of rain storms working in not quite as widespread as what we were dealing with this morning. here's the broader picture. a lot of the action down to the south or pulling to the east. we will quickly see clearing skies and much colder weather that will be moving in. downtown orlando, it looks beautiful. it is beautiful now but keep your umbrella with you. we could see a few more showers especially by school bus pick a time as the front kicks in.

investigators are trying to figure out what led to the shooting. we will be in court when she faces a judge this afternoon and let you know what happens. in the past events, police arrested the suspect who opened fire near the bethune-cookman university campus overnight and sent part of the campus into lockdown. 4 people have. kimberly eiten has been following the story all day. do we know about the person arrested? >> reporter: police told us they have arrested one of three people involved in last night's shooting here. i spoke with daytona beach police chief giving us more detail about the gunfire that erupted last night around 11:15 near sheridan and wilson. he tells me three guys in a stolen car opened fire on a group standing outside of a home at the intersection using handguns and an ak-47. we're told the suspects shot at and hit two men and two teenage girls. officers later saw the stolen car they were driving and and trying to make an arrest then

police say they later were able to track down one man and he is facing burglary charges. they've identified one of the other shooters as a man named watson. he is not under arrest but the chief says he is the prime suspect in another murder dating back to mother's day. police say since that murder, there's been an ongoing battle between the shooters and victims involved in last night's cry. officers say 8 people cooperated back in may, last night's shooting would not have happened. is calling this bug street justice. he says he does not know how people were killed last night and he's had it naming a suspect both in last night's shooting and the murder dating back in may. we got information and we will go through the archives and learn more about the crimes an update you on eyewitness news at 4. live in volusia county, kimberly eiten, channel 9 eyewitness news. new this noon, manages of

charged with a robbery with a deadly weapon. daytona beach police say this man, chris a bell and wrote a note say he had a gun and needed $1200. the suspect left but a witness was able to help find the getaway car. the driver of the car is being questioned for his involvement. orlando police are searching for the man they say investigators say the suspect walked up to the victim at eagles was ours apartments resettling parkway with a gun pointed at him and demanded the car and drove off. officers say the stolen car is a tan, 2007, lexus es 350. the victim was not physically harmed. number show senator. marco rubio barely beat ted cruz for second place in the nevada caucuses. rubio edged out cruz by 2000 votes. donald trump was the clear winner. bazi kanani reports it is trumps third win in a row. >> reporter: the winner by a large margin, donald trump celebrates hours before the

construction worker with the i 4 ultimate project was accidentally run over and killed by another construction worker using heavy equipment. from sky witness 9 you can see the construction site and workers off to the side. it happened on wymore road near the street maitland. we have a crew on the way to the scene and we will bring you updates as soon as they become available. new dramas in the mass murder case in michigan to getting the first look at surveillance video from the gunshot that the uber driver visited before going on the and injured two others. alex perez has the latest from kalamazoo. >> reporter: first glimpse at what is believed to be shooting suspect jason dalton in the hours before the deadly cameras capturing dalton checking out firearms at this kalamazoo area gun shop 51 says dalton did not buy a gun but bought a tactical jacket like this one gets the person that was here was friendly and talk to us, smiling, joking. >> reporter: less than three

the uber driver unleashed the rampage, killing six. 14-year-old abigail shot and injured in the parking lot of a restaurant. doctors say at one point her heart stopped. she is now fighting for her life. >> she squeezed my hand. it was a miracle. >> reporter: richard smith and 17-year-old son tyler killed in the parking lot. his teenage girlfriend was also there and hit in the family car calling 911. mallory and curtis were almost the uber drivers passengers dad sent attacks. multiple shootings with people that, get home, please. he warned them please were looking for suspect in a chevy. when the college student called the uber to go home, her assigned drive it was in a chevy. panicking, she canceled three times hoping for another vehicle.

the last cancellation performance before police arrested him. >> it makes us feel really lucky that we found in sinks and did not get in the car. >> reporter: both of the young ladies are saying it will take time for the shock of all this to wear off. dalton, a public defender, back in court next week. alex perez, abc news, kalamazoo, michigan. a major change could happen when it comes to child custody and divorce cases. the florida senate passed the bill yesterday that would require judges to prison it is best for children to split their time equally with both veterans -- both parents. bill supporters say research shows children who spent time with each parent test your behavioral problems, high self- esteem and do better in school. opponents say this could lead to backlogs in the courts as parents fight about shared custody. companion bill still have to pass the house before going to the governor's desk. a big change could soon be coming to how florida is represented in the us capitol's

the nfl is closing disturbing a video of a former florida gator and -- a player referring a fight between the mother of his child. surveillance tape shows fowler junior and the women standing outside an elevator and talking. fowler appears to offer a hand gesture for them to start fighting and steps back. fowler apologizes for the incident. this afternoon orange county parents are asking questions about how a school resource officer handled a

middle school. >> we found out the officer used a taser to break up a fight monday of wilson lake middle in apopka. we talked to a spokesperson who said the officer did everything right. a parent tells us taser should not be used on any student. >> i do not think at any point you should have to taser child. i believe an adult is strong enough. >> two students arrested one was shot by the taser after disobeying the officers orders. the officer said the probes on the device were never released. testing for this is fsa test starts next week for students -- central florida. officials hope to avoid the problems they face last year. department of education has said they fixed bugs, tessa system and had students take practice exams. leaders are trying to stay optimistic but say they noticed issues during the practice session. state troopers are continuing to search for a semi truck driver who hit a 68-year- old woman in orange county and took off. sky witness 9 flew over the scene yesterday at the corner

property. troopers say the truck driver ran over teresa vasquez and she was waiting across the street. the driver stopped but then drove off when paramedics arrived. desk is listed in serious but stable condition. florida senate may give final approval to a bill that would guarantee rapid dna testing and sexual assault cases as soon as this afternoon. a second reading approved yesterday. in november, fdle reported it had more than 13,000 untested kits and a major backlog. the bill will make sure rape kits and any other dna evidence collected or central labs are within 30 days. the house version will be waiting to be heard by the full house. a candidate with an arrest history says she not stop others from supporting her. whatever the case in 2010 while they colsn was placed on probation for alleged witness tampering. he says the past accusations were misunderstandings. he tells us he wants to serve

breaking news in orange county moments ago, a construction worker with the i 4 ultimate project was accidentally run over and killed by another construction worker using heavy equipment. from sky witness 9 you can see the site. this happened at the worksite on wymore road in maitland. julie salomone arrived. what can you tell us? >> reporter: it is difficult to get additional information confirmed because the scene is fresh. look behind me. you can see heavy machinery roped off with crime scene tape where the accident happened. as you mentioned, a construction -- someone working the equipment ran over a construction worker.

this was a fatality. we are try to get additional information. i reached out to florida department of transportation and they are pointing me to details. even though police said they held the scene until fhp arrived. troopers arrived a couple minutes ago to investigate. you can see traffic this way on wymore road, backed up because of the accident. cars moving slower than normal. this is an active scene. i'm told it was part of the ultimate i 4 project. talking about the maitland exit, 98. while it was happening here i 4 it was not directly on i 4. we will file and break the latest -- and bring you the latest on eyewitness news at 4. orange county, julie salomone, channel 9 eyewitness news.

downtown orlando. we will track showers and storms moving to parts of central florida. certified meteorologist brian shields has the latest from severe weather center 9. >> need to be careful. >> watching the southern sections. continue around central florida to show you what we are dealing with. early warning doppler 9 hd, one shower near doctor phillips, windermere area, moving over toward doctor phillips in a few minutes within seven minutes and eventually winter park over the next 20-30 minutes we will see rain working at. it will include orlando in between. we have heavy rain working at the parts of orange county now. that batch is not severe. we are saying steady rain popping up again in sumter county. wildewood, bushnell, it is moving in. lake county, watching it near leesburg and astatula. we went -- swing to the north. a final back to marion county. heavy weather across 75. parts the marion county. jumping to the coastline and

county, heavy weather moving offshore. more back to the west. down to the south, this is edging out of the viewing area. there's a tornado warning that has been expanded to include extreme southwestern sections a polk county for the potential of a tornado. this is something we will watch over the next couple of hours. this has been showing signs of rotation as it lets into the rest of polk county eventually. we will watch for this. the tornado warning to 1:00 for extreme southwestern sections of polk county. we will watch that as it gets closer to the area to see how that devolves. the broader picture, bigger line, you can see what is left of the rain and we have drier conditions back to the west sweeping in late today and for tonight. it will bring chillier weather in the forecast for tonight. 40s tonight. 78 in orlando, 81 deland, 80 degrees now in daytona beach. watching the front, rain storms

the family of a woman who died from ovarian cancer has been awarded $72 million in damages from a lawsuit against johnson & johnson. the late jackie fox claimed the outcome potter contributed to her overbearing cancer that she did not leave to see the verdict but her son stepped in as the plaintiff the johnson & johnson with complaints its products are safe but fox's lawyer says that is not true. >> johnson & johnson's has spent a lot of time keeping the information from the public. >> they say beverly goes against that is a sound science proving talcum powder is completely safe as a hygienic product. the company plans to appeal the verdict. cdc says fewer women are being infected with hpv.
