and then was turning into the grass so i stopped then all of a sudden the guy hit me. >> this afternoon we're hearing from the eight-year-old boy hit by car in titusville and we -- he was riding his bicycle following news where a moped rider this morning was struck and killed. it happened within a couple of hours on universal boulevard. >> the female rider was pronounced dead at the hospital. investigators on the scene now and tim barber is live. troopers, do they know what caused the accident?

on the moped was riding northbound on university. if you follow me you can see she was coming northbound like this through the intersection and the jeep came from the public store across -- according to troopers slamming her and pushing her into the crosswalk. you can see the moped in front of the crosswalk were in the crosswalk, rather pick up we then to the right, you will see the jeep that hit her with the front end damage and flat tire. investigators say choppy hautes was driving the suv, he is visiting from deerfield florida. the woman hit and killed on the moped was a 30-year-old orlando resident. her name is not been released because troopers are try to notify her family. when we get the information, we will bring it to and we are working to find out exactly how the crash happened. you can see people from the hotel here also with troopers investigating this. when we get details, we will bring them to you here on channel 9 or wftv.com. live in orange county, tim

news. only channel 9 talked with the eight-year-old who was hit while riding his bicycle and titusville. police say the driver never stopped and at this hour, the person is still not arrested. janai norman is live outside corner -- arnold palmer hospital where the boy was discharged. a terrifying experience but has a good attitude about it. >> reporter: his name is they shaun hill he was running with his brother one we spoke with him earlier. he says the only treatment he got at the hospital with tylenol and she knows that could have been so much worse. >> i was turning into the grass so i stopped and all of a sudden the guy hit me. >> he says he was riding his bike really fast when he saw the car coming and could not stop. >> i went flying off of my bike. >> you will be okay?

smack the car hit him so hard the tire flew off his bike. he was discharged from the hospital where he was kept for almost -- overnight observation because he had a head injury. he says there's a good reason why he was not wearing his helmet. >> it has something in the helmet. >> reporter: we spoke with neighbors who live along alpine avenue where he was hit. they tell us the driver circled back, giving them a chance to jot down the license number and then they say the man kept going. his mom says the fact is out of the hospital in less than 24 hours is nothing short of a miracle. so far, police have not arrested the man who was behind the wheel and while the scariest part of the ordeal is over for him, he says the fear is not gone. >> does it make you nervous to ride your bike again? >> makes me afraid to ride my bike again. >> really? >> only if i'm the street. that's the only time i will ride my bike. >> reporter: he says when he

to open the center for veterans and active military for months. deneige broom is live. they broke ground beneath $300,000. >> reporter: when i talked to -- uso leaders about funding two weeks ago, they say they were so confident they would be able to get the funding that they had no problems with planning of ground breaking and that is what they did here today. it was a figurative groundbreaking since the welcome center will be inside on the first level of the airport on terminal a site but it did not take away from the excitement of the 3100 square- foot facility including loud space, tv, food and amenities for the troops passing through the airport. uso projects more than 700,000 active duty veterans and family members will come through oia this year and will be able to use the facilities once up and running. one sharing his story about how uso volunteer help them through the airport for his first

tuesday when we see a few more clouds filter in. hour by hour, downtown orlando, we have warmed up all morning with the sunshine but still in the midday upper 50s to low 60s are willing. as we move into the afternoon, 61 degrees by 5:00 and it looks like it will be a nice evening commute weatherwise. volusia county, looking at 60 degrees pearson, daytona beach, 60 degrees around bayberry lakes as well as georgetown, how can they, 62 deltona, thanks cool with the breezy winds gusting up to 25 along the coast. tonight, 35 and ocala, 37 in the villages, 42 orlando, 50 cocoa beach. and how it is going to feel with just northwesterly winds at 5 to 10 and 29 ocala, 32 in the villages, 37 orlando, into sanford, 40 degrees in cocoa beach so you will need a jacket into tomorrow morning but then we will be bound nicely into the upper 60s tomorrow 74 by sunday, 77 on monday and there is a big 80 returning to stay with the biggest -- chance of rain coming wednesday.
