she's following the suspect. >> it is over six minutes long and as you can imagine, very emotional at some points. you can hear day shots grandmother giving dispatchers a description of the van, the man behind the wheel and directions until police caught up with her in the driver in the parking lot. somebody is following the vehicle. >> reporter: and a practical you hear grandmother telling dispatchers a grant -- driver hit her grandson and kept going. >> and older gentleman. >> police say this is the man she was describing, 73-year- old, spyware. at deputies arrested and on the charge of leaving the scene of a crash involving serious bodily injury. witnesses say gladwell hit eight-year-old they shaun hill so hard that front tire flew off his bike. when i spoke with him he says

and winked at him and took off. . minutes, his grandmother gives dispatchers a play-by-play of where gladwell drives before turning into a parking spot at save a lot and police arrived. >> they got him thank you. parker -- gladwell will go before a judge and we will want to see what happens and in the meantime digging into his past driving record and working to find out why it took police four days to make an arrest. in brevard county, janai norman, channel 9 eyewitness news. breaking out of seminole county this noon, sheriff deputies on the scene of a crash near state road 46. deputies say they spotted a vehicle reported stolen out of volusia county and attempted to stop the driver with spikes fixed -- sticks. somehow he was able to avoid them. the driver sideswiped another

car. this is what you see the deputies say the driver ran into the woods where he was tracked down by k-9 unit and was taken into custody. no one was hurt. a landscaper is recovering and animal control investigating after a people leapt a fence -- pitbull the defense and attacked a woman. neighbors say the dog has lived in the pine hills neighborhood for years. it is back in the backyard this afternoon and officers are figuring out what caused it to attack. police and west melbourne say a father shot his daughter and boyfriend. it happened early this morning e. haven avenue. both victims expected to be okay. jeff deal is live in west melbourne. the police automotive? >> reporter: no -- do police have a motive. >> no motive yet.

crime scene set up and the polar -- tape around the house. they are getting ready to go and now. police say the shooting happened after 6:00 this morning. the homeowner opening fire, daughter and boyfriend struck by a bullet or bullets. they live together in the house. the boys and was rushed to the hospital unexpectedly the daughter was grazed by a bullet interviews to to be transported. neighbors tell us they've had problems with traffic in and out for the last several years but the homeowner, father recently moved back in and the father is being questioned by police. >> there's no threat to the community. this was isolated to one residence. the shooter is in our custody. >> reporter: at this point, police say the father has not been arrested on charges but likely he will face some sort of charges. investigators going inside of the home. we will continue to stay on top of the story and let you know

instability ucf campus downtown got a bit used. dr. phillips charities pledge $3 million to the project. the announcement is key beat comes the school will ask for michael lopardi found up ucf still needs more money posted a split is the largest private donations so far but the school is still short of its fundraising goal. they need $20 million and this will bring them up to 16 million but the announcement chose the school is making progress ahead of a big meeting tomorrow. ucf will pitch the plans to the board of governors for approval . the school says this time is different because there is a new funding plan in place. they believe they have address concerns that were raised by the board. is this president tells me he is guarded but optimistic the

a man was shot in the chest just a short time ago at home on holly street. roy ramos is live. what have you been able to find out? >> reporter: we have arrived on the scene and we can tell you this happened in the driveway you are looking at. several deputies are here with volusia county sheriff's office on the corner of parkway street and holly boulevard. we have been told a man was believed to have been shot in the chest by his father. deputies say the victim was rushed to halifax hospital and we are working to get an update on his condition and investigators have just told me the father is still on scene in the back of the patrol car. they are questioning him as
