detectives have been watching the suspect for more than one week. >> reporter: they even had him on camera under surveillance like you say for more than one week as he was wandering around this neighborhood and they believe looking for houses to break it to pick these are the kind of houses that tourists may read while on vacation but they did not know how busy was until they actually searched his own home. investigators say this is lewis almost, prepared to burglarize a vacation rental. he struck with families were often join themselves but would come home to find thousands of dollars in belongings gone. >> cash was gone so we were panicked. >> reporter: jeremy says his family was victimized by the man yesterday after his arrest, detectives exercised a search warrant and found more than $50,000 in electronics and other valuables inside his apartment. they believe it was stolen in at least 20 different burglaries >> ridiculous.

a brevard county grandmother didn't waste any time jumping into action when she said she saw a driver hit her grandson on his bike. and she gave the dispatcher turn by turn directions until police could arrive.

eyewitness news. out of brevard county, waiting for public police to identify the man killed by an officer following a two hour stand up and we told you police checked on the victim because they say he was threatening three people who were doing construction work next-door. they say he came out of the house with a gun. talking with family members of the neighbors the man reportedly friend. will have that on eyewitness news at 5 mac. a car thief was arrested when investigators spotted the stolen car in seminole county. deputies tried to pull the suspect over on state road 46 with stop sticks as he crossed over the lake jesup bridge. driver dodged them but sideswiped another driver and crashed. deputies say the driver ran off into a wooded area but was chased down and captured by police dogs. asking sumner county officials what happened during the arraignment of a woman accused of food stamp fraud. investigators say shamika billings stole more than

falsifying public assistance forms. prosecutors tell us they might have looked into more fraud charges but the statute of limitations ran out. billings tells us she never did anything wrong. >> this afternoon we have learned a woman accused of kidnapping her cousin's baby and sparking an amber alert over the weekend miscarried in january. two-month-old taraji kemp was found alone and safe in an orlando apartment sunday. investigators say 23-year-old's deficit -- stephanie augustin and relative to the baby from her mother gunpoint in fort lauderdale. augustin being held without bond and must undergo a mental health evaluation. the jacksonville mother who investigators say lied about her son's disappearance will be sentenced friday. 21-month-old lonzie barton this be last summer at was found dead. november the mother's boyfriend, we mean brian admitted to bearing the child. blondies mother already accepted a plea deal on child
