families. >> meteorologist: somebody had to say it at the fox25 studios. that was my job today. mid-40s quob the average temperature for the first weekend of december and we're going to be more 10 degrees monday. now, believe it or not the record high for tomorrow is 72 so nowhere near record but still well above normal. until we get to the middle part of the week and it will start to feel more like mid-drs. by then. feeling like mid-december in spots. 32 in beverly, 30 in port moth. 40 in boston. the winters crucial, too, to our temperatures, and it's no coincidence that the areas that have the coldest temperatures have the calmest winds. when you have a little bit of cloud cover during the evening hours clouds almost act like insulation, and if you have winds, the winds help to kind of recirculate the heat. if you don't have any cloud cover or any wind, then the
12:55 am
during the day kind of escapes out the space, and that's why we've seen the temperatures really plummet as soon as the sun set a little bit earlier this evening. now, the calm winds doing two things, again one leading to the cooler temperatures but also allowing a little bit of fog to dpesm overtall atmosphere is very dry and that's why we haven't seen much in the way of cloud cover but just enough moisture near the surface to allow fog to develop in spots. plymouth just reduced visibility down to a mile and three-quarters and with temperatures below freezing it's possible a little bit of moisture in that fog could freeze to the ground creating slick spots. do watch out in the slick spots until about 8:00 in the morning. then we should be in the clear. high pressure in control of our weather, and it's the high pressure bringing us the generally clear skies and fairly quiet weather, and this will be our weather-maker for the next couple of days. the only difference is as the high starts to slide around, our winds do shift around a little bit. tonight high is right on top of us and with that the clear skies and the calm winds, and that's
12:56 am
night. but as the highs slides out to the atlantic, our winds start to shift around more toward the south, and that southerly wind will pump up the heat. so after a cool start tomorrow morning, temperatures get at least as warm tomorrow are afternoon as they did on saturday afternoon if not a degree or two warmer. the high did get out of the way and that makes room for our next coastline. as recently as friday evening it loigd that was going to hug the coast and brings some fairly wet weather on tuesday, but future cast has been trending further and further east, further and further out in the atlantic. so now it looks like hat most it will gives a glancing blow on wednesday bringing us a few showers to the cape and islands but that looks like it may be a stretch. only a few hours ago this green stretched well into massachusetts but now it looks like again it's trending further and further away. we'll have to keep watching this

mean the difference between a cloudy day and a very, very wet day. right now it looks like the best chance of rain will be the cape and the island on tuesday. many of the rest of us could be dry, with cloudy skies. in the meantime enjoy this 56 tomple. boston. a little bit of wind off the cape cod day. still well above average for tomorrow afternoon. and there it is. your seven-day forecast with the week always in view. that next chance of rain on tuesday, plierl for the cape and the islands. otherwise maybe a slight chance for a few sprinkles on thursday. otherwise quiet and another warming trend heading into next weekend. >> we showed you the coat drive earlier but if you're looking for another way hope to children in need this holiday season, state police are collecting daidgesz for the toys for tots drive. today in north attleboro police had a successful fill the cruiserrer event and you can bring new non-violent toys to any for children in need.
