wind sticks around and what your travel conditions look like over the next couple of days. julie grauert is up now with live drive time traffic. >> julie: things looking good. pike from 128 to the alston-brighton. route 1 and 93 south is clear. single-digit drive times on the expressway. 19 minutes on 93 south. 11 minutes on 128 northbound from westwood to the weston tolls. 4:31 now. we are following breaking news. a chattanooga, a crash that killed five young children. police aiested jonathany walker and charged him with five counts of vehicular homicide and charges of reckless endangerment and reckless driving. they are looking whether he was speeding at the crash. 35 children on the bus when it veered off the road and a tree split it in half. some children on the bus say it was going very fast before the crash. police are looking at the bus

school is open in chattanooga, and grief counselors will be on hand for the kids. closer to home, a peabody man is dead after this violent two-car crash in danvers last night. a car hit a tractor-trailer on north street near route 1 after 6:00. police say the 50-year-old man was driving this smashed-up blue car when it collided with a truck. state police and danvers police are investigate the cause of the crash. a new hampshire father has pleaded not guilty to child endangerment and reckless he is accused of forcing his children to live this terrible conditions. the children's mother said she knew the situation was bad, but was powerful to stop it. >> i want to say that i care a lot to my kids. they mean the world to me and i would never do anything to harm them. >> reporter: samantha greiner's husband is facing charges after they found deplorable conditions inside the apartment >> the smells kind of put you

stench of human and animal waste were overpowering when a 911 call brought officers to apartment 3. >> tough to walk in there. it was very cluttered with garbage. food on the counters. >> reporter: investigators say there were dog and human feces on the floor and in one bedroom, they found greiner's 4-year-old son tied to his bed with a make shift harness and a childproof lock. it had happened before. >> my son to the bathroom or play. he was constantly in his bed and not allowed to be with anyone else but himself in that bed. >> reporter: his 2-year-old daughter was covered with human waste and in the crib. >> i would never do that to my little one. >> reporter: officers searching the apartment found a cracked wooden paddle 15 inches long. according to court documents, greiner admitted that he used it to discipline his kids. i am catherine bircham, fox25 news.

the children's mother tells fox25 she is hoping to avoid being charged in this case. she always wanted to get custody of her children back. for now the children have been placed with their grandparents. arrangements are being made for a nashua man to be sent back to new hampshire after he was hit and killed by a truck in jamaica. christopher died on his birthday attending a friend's wedding. an autopsy has since been been in touch with the family. the community has also donated nearly 30,000 to the family's go fund me page to help pay to bring christopher's body back. the family said extra money will go to his kids. the holiday shopping season has started and with it comes the usual grinches. cambridge police say they have received dozens of reports. catherine parrotta is live in cambridge where at least 30 packages have been taken. catherine? >> reporter: that has just been since the fall, since about september.

shopping season, and police are warning buyer beware. of course online shopping is very convenient for so many of us, but also paving the way for crimes of opportunities for thieves. cambridge police say thieves drive by or walk by stealing packages off porches. in some cases they are watching the delivery trucks. chauncey, wendel and peabody streets are some of the shot spots and homes on smaller streets may be particularly vulnerable. >> homes that are clustered together. homes that are close to the road. those to be the target. it is easy prey for these suspects. they are able to quickly get in and out of homes. >> reporter: police say many of these thefts are happening between wednesday and friday in the afternoon when many people are at work. cambridge police say in terms of preventing this, the best way is to have a neighbor pick up your package or sign for yourself. a lot of these carriers carry an option where you can track the package and see when it is being delivered to your home.

information from the public helped land a man in custody. now police are hoping to get a similar result in an older case. this one happened back in june on washington street. the man who was hit dried. police say the car you see highlighted here is responsibility. surveillance video captured the suspect leaving the scene. police are looking to talk to this man here. they say he was in the area at the time of the crash on june 4. now to an update on another pair of boston officers richard centolo and matthew morris were shot several times as they responded to calls of an argument at a home. the suspect was killed, and both officers needed multiple surgeries. officer cintolo is recovering at home and officer morris spent weeks at spalding rehab until now. officer morris was released just before thanksgiving. he posted these pictures of some of the doctors, nurses and

right there he is wearing a shirt that says i love my occupational and physical therapist. the 12-year veteran of the department thanked everyone who helped him get home. meanwhile, a fallen officer is being honored at a thanksgiving day high school football game. harrellboro and hudson will honor fallen state trooper thomas clardy, the ceremony will consist of the national anthem, a flyover from the air wing. trooper clardy they will start with the customary coin toss. trooper clady was killed in the ma mass pike in march. we have been reporting of the ties between president-elect donald trump and the new england patriots. we learned he has been in touch with bill belichick and tom brady and he could be ready to meet robert kraft. christine talked to the owner

most of you freezing through 7:00 this morning. probably through 8:00 or 9:00 this morning. noontime comes along. we are warming southern new england into the 40s. mostly sunny skies. the winds will be absolutely whipping through the day. futurecast at 5:00 this afternoon for many of you heading home from work. it will be dark and cold. lower 30s back. so temperatures already dropping from these highs that reach the lower 40s from portsmouth, new hampshire from lawrence to bo plymouth at 42. same in chatham. 35 in worcester and 30s in keene and orange today. a cool one. more of below-average temperatures. overnight tonight, get ready for the 20s and 30s. mostly clear conditions and tomorrow, mostly sunny. highs again in the low to mid-40s. very quiet day tomorrow. in fact you will have to head out to almost the ohio valley or the minnesota river to find any kind of showers. the entire east coast of the united states is going to be great for traveling tomorrow up

in the middle of the country, clear skies and out toward seattle and portland. what do you know. rain out there. we shift into thursday and the weather maker that was near the mississippi valley gets closer to us. the problem is it is very cold in the among and that means initially although very, very light we could deal with a little bit of a snow-sleet mix inland. we could see a little bit of freezing rain from the coastline. we will have to watch the temperatures very, very closely here from thursday morning. the travel plans could be a little slippery on thursday mo very minor but what you saw yesterday is that it almost takes in accumulation. very little accumulation to create slippery roads. this is what we expect on thanksgiving morning. by 1:00 in the morning, around 40 degrees. mostly rain and watch northern mass and southern new hampshire for a little bit of a mix and in light of that 5 p.m. dinnertime, upper 30s and plain light showers out there. the seven-day forecast for the weekend always in view. a slight risk for a sprinkle 45

the sox office is fighting against a tower of condos proposed for the charles gate area fenway. if built, the complex will only be about two blocks away from the park. new documents show the sox filed a letter against 340-foot tower saying it would loom too close and transform the iconic views of the skyline that fans enjoy. the worker of the development are working on some issues raised by opponents. the nation is gearing up to back. kenny chesney announced a surprise concert date. next year's show will also be at the end of august features guest acts thomas rett and old dominion. chesney said his only stadium show of the year. coming off a big night at gillette stadium a big turnout for an annual charity event. joe and jim andruzzi had their

andrezzi foundation that helps families while their loved ones are battling cancer. looking to raised 1 million through the dinner and auction. a new hampshire family is looking to give back as their young son battles cancer. fox 25's crystal haynes reports looking that every child during the holidays has a reason to celebrate. >> he had been sick for a number week and not the diagnosis i was expecting at his 7th birthday in the hospital getting cancer treatments. last july he was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia and started treatment right away at dana farber center in boston. we get gifts from the pediatric resource. >> if he had a bad day with the tests, wasn't feeling well and he would come in with a package and he would instantly be happy.
