eastbound to mass avenue. 17 minutes on the expressway. 2 minutes on 93 south from 495 to the leverett connector. back to you. updating breaking news now in dorchester. a big scare for four boston police officers as a car hits and drags two of them and narrowly misses two others. >> gene: all four taken to the hospital. the food news is they will all be okay. our jess yes, sir live in dorchester. police are still searching for the >> reporter: they are, gene. checking an area off of columbia road on draper street a mile from here. all started around 12:30 right outside of this car. you can see on stoughton street. police are coming here for an actual report of a person sitting outside here in a car with a gun, but when the officers approached that car, that driver took off dragging the officers with him. now the driver, he came just inches of hitting two more officers as he sped away from here.

columbia road and you can see there was a pretty big response here at the time last night. all four officers were taken here to the hospital but the superintendent does say thankfully all of them are expected to be okay. >> the four officers that went to the hospital subsequent to the injuries are nonlife-threatening which we are thankful for that considering what is going on in the world across united states right now >> reporter: as we speak, the search for the suspect is under way and near draper street just about a mile from where all this started on stoughton. the description of the car is a bit vague, but they believe it is a gray or silver chevy. live in dorchester, i am jessica reyes, fox25 news. new this morning, three people are okay after they were able to get out of this house on hall street in jamaica plain that caught fire just after 3:00 this morning.

tell us another person on the second floor. right now it looks like the fire started on the second floor at the back of that house. investigators tell us it is too early to know the cause. new this morning a disturbing trend in the city. homicides up 20% in boston. new numbers from the boston herald show the city had 40 homicides this year compared to 33 during the same stretch last year. boston police have also reported a 54% uptick in shootings in october and november. the community activistha the recent surge on gang violence and witnesses who are reluctant to come forward. massachusetts on the move is expected to be a busy day on the roads, rails and in the air as millions of americans rush to get to the thanksgiving table. our catherine parrotta live at logan wrairpt it appears to be a busy morning, but pretty calm right now though. >> reporter: pretty manageable for the time being. logan airport.

mass dot officials anticipate a million people will fly in and out of logan during this thanksgiving period and these early birds you see behind me are trying to beat the rush. >> going to my sister's house to see all the baby. >> we travel with family and get out of the cold and enjoy sunshine for a cup of days. >> reporter: the reasons may vary but the travelers have something in common, they are tall taking to the skies the day before thanksgiving the busiest travel day before thanksgiving? >> it is for me. >> reporter: what are you expecting today? >> i was expecting more delays and crowds. but it ain't too bad so far. >> reporter: that could change. mass dot officials expect a million passengers to fly in and out of logan. nationwide, 27 million are expected to take to the skies between november 18 and 29. it seems everyone has a strategy for getting to their destinations in time for the turkey and pumpkin pie. >> early flights. >> stay focused.

mattis as secretary of defense. south carolina governor nikki haley has been offered job as ambassador to the united nations and ben carson has been considered for the department of urban development. romney and haley had opposed trump. during a sit-down interview with the "new york times" he asked of republican that did not campaign for him. ayotte said she would love a job he said no thank you. she narrowly lost a bid. after the election she was briefly rumored as head of the department of defense. mr. trump arrived in palm beach to spend thanksgiving at miss miro lago club. the staff said that mr. trump will not be performing business while in florida. supporters of hillary clinton are advising her to fight the results of the link.

in michigan and pennsylvania thinking that some voting machines have been hacked. they have no proof this happened but say that clinton performed better in counties with paper ballots instead of electronic machines. the deadline to challenge results in those states is friday. a tennessee communion is getting an outpouring of support from the entire country as they deal with the death of five young children in a school bus parents, teachers and students released killed and six others who were hurt. doctors and nurses say one of the most difficult tasks they had was reunited kids with their parents because many of the kids were so young they didn't know their parents' full name or they were hurt so pad they were unable to communicate their own name. the ntsb towed the bus and the bus driver has been charged with five counts of vehicular homicide. a parent of one of the victims

the brakes on purpose making all the kids hit their heads. may be time to spend the money to get monitors on all school buses after allegations of sexual assault on students on a bus. the renaissance charter school failed to notify parents of repeated incidents involving a 6-year-old boy. fox25 learned because of budget cuts, just 37% of all boston public school bus trips have an adult monitor reserved for students needs. >> do you think it is time to re-examine it? if we will look into that. the issue at the renaissance goes deeper than bus monitors. a sad situation what is going on in the school. failed to notify the department of elementary and secondary education within 48 hour which is required of all charters. this beak's cold snap is hare hard for a woman living in south boston. she has been without heat for

21-year-old sophia liwinsky and just garaged from williams college. she was in north dakota when things turned violent. sophia was hurt when police threw a concussion grenade to the unarmed protesters and her arm was pretty much blown off. police say the protesters did it to themselves by blowing up their own explosives. they found a small propane canister and believe that is what hurt it is not true. >> threw it and it exploded while it hit her forearm. many witnesses and they have shrapnel -- the sheriff's office said they did it to themselves, brought their own bomb. that is ridiculous. >> daniel: sophia is in serious condition at a hospital. her father said she will have to go through 20 surgeries

her hand her family already raised close to $300,000 in one day. in the newsroom, daniel miller, fox25 news. we track traffic and weather together every ten minutes. good morning, everyone, i was just talking to one of my sources who say yesterday, volume and traffic on the pike eastbound to 84 in sturbridge was up to two hours. that is going to be what you are seeing later this afternoon. right now, things are looking good on route 1 and 93 south. pike is moving along fine still early. people that might not be getting to work packing up their kids and family are the to head out for thanksgiving celebration. expressway moving along without issue. 13 minutes on route 1 from 128 to the tobin. 19 minutes on the expressway. 23 minutes on 93 south from andover to the leverett connector. meteorologist shiri spear joining us now. shiri just tweeted out, looking good today but you expect say the same thing for tomorrow. >> shiri: tomorrow things get dicey.

this is it. temperatures in the low to mid-40s. mostly sunny skies. a little breezy here this morning and the winds end up this afternoon. of course we do end up starting off with temperatures in the 20s and 30s right now and definitely a chill in the air. check out your forecast and hop down to plymouth this morning. 31 degrees is the temperature right now. because it is a little breezy and we have wind chills running in the 20s and even the teens. slow warm-up as well. through 8 a.m., hold temperatures steady. noon and highs in the middle 40s with nice clear skies across the the area. thanksgiving, can't promise the same forecast. start at 10 a.m. for football games. temperatures will be close to freezing. slight risk for freezing drill or a little bit of light snow. it is not for everybody. it is going to be widely scattered and that same story through 1:00 in the afternoon very slow to get this whole thing started.

a water slide where a summer will be taken down. the kansas city water park announced it will apply for position to demolish the world's tallest water slide when the investigation into the boy's death is complete. the boy was riding the slide with two women in august when he broke his neck. the women also suffered from broken bones. surveillance cameras capture a florida man as he is run over by his own truck. police say he was so drunk that he fell out the closed door -- take a closer look.

truck at the top.right of screen. you can see people run toward him hoping to stop him from driving dunk. he falls out to get hit by the back wheels. the truck crashed into a nearby home and the man ran away from the scene and he turned himself into police and facing felony charges. the fbi is teaming up with california police to catch a man tampering with restaurant food. police say the video shows the suspect spreading an unknown substance on a -- bar. a is it-year-old boy was sent to the hospital after he freight that bar over the weekend and investigators are trying to figure out what that substance was. >> we are trying pare down the parameters of what to test for in the lab because right now it could be anything. >> this is the second time the town has dealt with food tampering in two weeks.

street. he came an instant from hitting two more. all around 12:30 at stoughton street and columbia road and a huge response after this happened. all four officers were take to the hospital and thankfully they are very lucky and all of them are expected to be okay in happen in a matter of seconds. the driver ended up get being okay and seen driving down columbia road. the description for that car, a gray or silver chevy, probably plates. the police superintendent. we spoke with them earlier and said given the circumstances we are lucky to be okay and in that situation. we will hear from them in about a half-our. live in dorchester, fox25. a horrific case of child neglect reported in connecticut. three children age 3, 5 and 6 were found wearing diapers and unable to speak. turned herself into connecticut state police

another suspect nicholas emory has been arrested in arizona. police tell us they were legally responsible for the children. the kids were found in a home in danielson connecticut. police say they were underweight, had missing teeth and rarely left the house. there were never enrolled in school. the mayor of brockton is under scrutiny for using money for his personal use. he sent 30 flower baskets worth $2300 to funerals in the last year. those bought with taxpayer money from a flower shop owned by a city councillor. reports show he spent $500 on suits to attend those funerals. the city council demanded that he pay back the money. carpenter ordered a full review of all of his expense reports and those results are expected next week. barnstable is doing 3 m and other companies that make fire extinguishing systems. the town claims that the

the town wants the company to pay for the treatment, monitoring of the water systems. nearly one month ago a suv hit a boston fire engine an sent it careening into a row of parked car in the back bay. now fox25 investigates learns there is not enough insurance money to pay for the damage. work for the ride-sharing company lyft. because they didn't have a passenger in the car was not picking up one. the insuranc $25,000. we learned that the damage could be over $100,000 for the cars and the fire truck. the owners of the cars tell us that they are looking for all of their options and the city said the fire truck will be scraped. the owners of some of the 1400 animals rescued from a westport farm have been ordered to pay up. the aspca have been taken care of the animals and their vet bills for the summer. one those owner is basing nearly 48,000 in animal care

mass audubon says it rescued 600 turtles last year. a dramatic rescue of an elephant stuck in a ditch filled with water. two people spotted the animals looking for poachers in the instagram back we national park. it took a group of rescuers with ropes and a tractor to pull the animal out of that hole. a new sign had drivers scratching their heads in dartmouth. a contractor installed this mis. printed sign last week that read "cod cape "cape cod." crews took it down as soon as it was brought to their attention. mass do, it said sorry, workers are responsible for double checking the signs in for any errors before they go up. >> gene: have to find out if there is any traffic over bridge sagamore and bridge bourne. a new game you can play. >> sara: you made a good point earlier that the sign could be worth something. >> gene: could be worth some
