drizzily and still a chance of a spotty shower overnight but the steadier rain has broken up the moves east of the southshore where i take to you braintree there, the southshore plaza. looking good for shoppers tonight, back toward rentham, as well. watch out for patchy fog, drizzle overnight and back here around worcester, 33 degrees. you know there are some of the pockets that are at 32 and some light icing out there overnight into early tomorrow morning. so watch out for that well north and west, in the 30s to kick off our black friday but i am timing out the next storm for the weekend and where it will be tracking in just a little bit. >> the mall has been packed for hours and some of the stores will be open for well over 24 hours. >> that's right. and one of the stores, j.c. penney's, they actually opened

afternoon. some of the shoppers they talked to told us that they ate their turk quickly and cut it short so they could get over here and find a deal. >> reporter: 45 registers constantly ring up deals at j.c. penney at the rockingham mall in salem, new hampshire. dozens of workers this thanksgiving cater to what seems like a never ending line of customers. >> we must have let in in the first 15 minutes well over 1,000 customers. >> repor double pay but opening up at 3:00 p.m. has its sacrifices. >> we have our own thanksgiving dinner going until the back, turkeys, all the fixings. >> i had all the people at my house, rushed them out the door, come on, i gotta go shopping. >> we put together a bunch of care packages to take home and high tailed it up here to the mall records massachusetts blue laws prevent in-state shopping on the holiday so many of these customers have traveled north

>> well, for the second day in a row, new england patriots football tom brady missed practice. tom, this is so unusual for number 12. >> yeah, reason for concern but you gotta hope this is just some conservative maintenance for brady. he rarely misses practice at all. the truth is here no indication he was injured in the last game. likely goes back to that hit right there against the irony is he's named alc defensive player of the week. matthew shrader is out with a foot injury. tom brady has not missed a game due to injury sings 2008. we will stay on top of this story for you.

a house fire. it happened before 9:00 this morning. one of the people in the house told us there was a clothing rack that caught on fire. the man tried to put it out using a small fire extinguisher but the flames spread too quickly. >> it's never a good time to have a fire but around the holidays it's always just a little bit more tragic. >> that is the truth. crews say one of the people who lived there had to be treated for smoke inhalation at the hospital. the cause of the fire is under investigation. >> a saugus man alive tonight thanks to the kindness of his neighbors. michael henrik caught up with one of the heroes who ran right into a burning home. >> reporter: on thanksgiving morning, plywood covered the windows and doors, the melted siding hung not far below the charred roof on this midland avenue home in saugus. larry applegate not only noticed the fire wednesday afternoon, he knew the man in his 80s who

dorchester man accused of trying to run down four officers with his car is due in court. 34-year-old vincent weeks is facing charges after investigators say he directed two dragged two officers down the street and hit two more officers with his car. the officers were hospitalized and released. a man died after he drove his car on the wrong side of the highway in plainville. this was the scene on 495 around 2:00 a.m. since that story broke on fox 25 morning news, we lanes was from norten. he died after crashing into an oncoming car. state police tell us the driver of the other car, a 21-year-old barnstable woman, was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries. we're working to get the latest on her condition. new information about the pilot program designed to help curb the rising opioid problem. straight ahead, the major milestone achieved in the fight

are calling a problem for police. >> the international association of chief of police hopes president-elect's trump's administration can put a stop to it. >> wednesday night 40 emergency vehicles accompanied the body of officer collin rose from a detroit hospital to the medical examiner's office. after he became the 59th officer to guy from a gunshot wound in the u.s. this year. rose was shot in the head while working his job at the wayne state university police force trying to handcuff a suspect >> he just shot him. we heard one shot and looked and he's an officer down and shot him twice. >> reporter: the 15 deaths mark a staggering 74% increase of gunshot deaths of police officers since last year. a total of 131 officers have died in the line of duty this year.

it happened during a football game in louisville. [ sound of gunfire ] >> part of the shooting at the park was caught on video. police say it happened in the middle of an annual thanksgiving day flag youth football game. people heard gunshots and then called police. what exactly caused that shooting. >> when officers did arrive, they located two black males that apparently had been shot and had been fatally wounded and >> authorities say 30 people went to the hospital have non-life-threatening injuries and as of right now no one is in custody. >> all right, hope had you a great thanksgiving, i've been

on a few more compared to what we had today. mid- and upper 40s around boston and dedham tomorrow. lots of clouds. the overall trend will be to keep it overcast, although a few peeks of sun certainly possible closer to 50 and i think this is where you'll see the better chance for a few peeks of sun. the southshore to the cape and the ocean out of the east and southeast. so water temperatures in the throw middle 50s and that's what you'll get as far as your air temperatures tomorrow, as well. so a chance of rain tomorrow it's high because we have light rain around and drizzle. but not a washout. on saturday and sunday, watch what's happening here. our rain chance is going down. this track of the storm may

storm far offshore so at one on saturday, this low is developing and we'll see a bit of an increase of the winds and possibly a flurry on the backside of it as it does move away but also maine getting in on the brunt of this storm so your seven-day forecast with your weekend us a in view. on saturday morning, in t the upper 40s and just a spot shower out there. sunday looks like we could get a little colder behind that low. breezier, as well. and on monday we're starting out cool and ending up in the mid- and upper 40. we're gonna keep it dry. that's the one day in the seven-day that looks dry. by tuesday afternoon here come our next weather maker and after that we'll be watching to see how many waves of low pressure come through. you'll see temperatures generally 50 to 54 there

is authorities new hampshire are helping opioid addictses get on a safe path to recovery this thanksgiving. it's a story we first told but earlier in the week. and today manchester fire department announced that the 800th person has now passed through their safe station. the stations have been designated as safe environments of people looking for help and treatment. the 800th person came through, by the way, just before 11:00 this morning.
