a teenager. malini basu introduces us to the family trying to find the hero. >> reporter: fire victims share their cell phone video with us. they stood there and watch their home and belongings up in flames. >> i just want to cry. we don't know what to do. >> reporter: the alvarez family and others were in their apartments when it went up in flames. >> helpless, overwhelmed, worried and scared. >> reporter: a fire fighter to the hospital. >> like a movie. something i have never seen before. >> reporter: it happened at 1:00 in the afternoon east lawrence in prospect street in lawrence. >> all of a sudden i hear a big banging on the door. >> reporter: jenise alvarez was taking a nap when someone banged on the door. she grabbed her 5-month-old and made sure her special needs son escaped the fire. >> she took care of my son. >> reporter: the flames were getting close.
