>> sarah: severe weather off the gulf coastal states and tornado watch and no watches in our area except for the advisory that we have due to the fog in spots. but i mentioned clouds may thin out a bit, you may see a few breaks in the cloud cover before the steady rain moves in, temperatures in the 30s north and west, 50s down across the southeast, big range in temperatures and you can see down across islands, visibility down to under a mile and portsmouth and connecticut river valley and otherwise in boston looking pretty good. as in lawrence temperatures today climb into the upper 40s to low 50s. again, may see the break in the cloud cover before the afternoon when the showers and steadier rain arrives. i will show you how much rain you can expect and when it clears coming up in just a bit. let's get a check now of traffic and julie grauert. how are roads looking?

flow has decreased and as we shift north things a little bit slow on 93 south as you head from medford into somerville and seeing some residual delays on route 1 right here as we head southbound approaching lynn fells parkway. an earlier accident at lynn street and revere has cleared but it is just slowing things down a little bit more than usual. here are live drive times. 37 minutes on route 1 from 128 to the tobin and down to 44 minutes on the expressway, that is much more reasonable than 80 minutes which we saw earlier. 18 minutes 128. back to you. >> gene: speaking of road problems, breaking news in chinatown. this is the first video we are getting from the scene of water main flooding the street and washington street and intersection of stewart street and businesses in the area likely will have damage from all of that water. police directing people around that mess. we have a crew heading to do the scene right now. they should be there live

soon as we have them on the story and updated and on top of the story all morning. >> sara: developing news in taunton and man struck in the road just before 9:00 last night and the driver took off. fox25 catherine parrotta live at the scene on state street where that victim suffered a serious leg injury. catherine? >> catherine: yeah, this is state street here behind me, and what we are learning from neighbors this morning is this crash, hit the person and then dragged him pretty much all the police do, of course, say this person then left the scene, so they are continuing to investigate this today, even though you see the scene since been cleared here, of course. here is what we know about the situation so far. taunton police saying this all happened around 8:30 last nitrogen on state street and pretty much the length of state street as we are learning again from residents here. police got the call about a pedestrian who had been hit by a vehicle and reportedly dragged for a ways. when they arrived they found a man lying in the street with a serious leg injury but the

the victim was taken to rhode island hospital but police haven't sure of his condition. we spoke with 1 resident that came out of his home this morning -- came out of the home and here is how he described it. >> hit in car -- hit by a car and state street and by the time fell off the car it was toward the road. pretty much the whole street was crime scene and cell phones and glasses and stuff like that the. >> sara: >> catherine: this is a residential street here and not where you would have a lot of traffic insidely and police continuing to investigate this today, we will be checking in with them as we get more information. live in taunton, catherine parrotta, fox25 news. >> gene: this cell phone video shows intensity of the flame that tore through the lawrence apartment building. now this morning more than 20 people including many children are without a home. it happened at triple-decker on east lawrence and prospect streets last night. a mother and her 5-month-old

>> sara: warning to anyone heading into the city. we are following breaking news in chinatown where a water main has broke in flooding several streets and this is what it locks like on washington street at the intersection of stewart. police are directing people around the mess. we have a crew headed to the scene and expect them to arrive over the next several who has been shot by police has been identified. michael mcguiness of malden robbed a gas station early yesterday morning. he claimed he had a gun. police found him minutes later but they say he refused to take his handouts of pocket and kept walking closer to them and that's when officer shot him. mcguiness died later at the hospital and has lengthy criminal record among many robbery arrests. this 1 that we reported back in 2010 at 7-eleven in malden and

>> julie: good morning, everyone. we track traffic and weather together every 10 minutes. things moving along fine, i've not concerned about this accident. it was on the pike eastbound right before 128 but we are not seeing really any residual backups approaching that the area. so i'm guessing it has already been towed out. things slow on the expressway, we are getting back to normal there as you head from the braintree split up through neponset. no more 80 minute drive time from the earlier accident. we are back in the 40 minute range. here is live look at the expressway visibility that sarah wroblewski will tell us more about. over to the live drive times. 50 minutes on the pike eastbound. about half hour on the expressway. 55 minutes on 93 south from 495 to the leverett connector. getting back to the foggy mentioned, sarah wroblewski in for shiri spear and here to tell us more about where visibility is improving and where it is still problematic. >> we are dealing with some fog this morning. after the rain we had yesterday i've expecting some of the fog to begin to clear soon as the

take look at some of the rainfall totals. just updated and brewster came in over an inch of rain as well as plymouth. good amount of rain and we got another silky rain headed our way as withy head into the evening and overnight hours. this morning patchy fog out there, this timeframe, this afternoon evening really when we are going to start some of the heaviest rain and that could continue into thursday morning before we finally dry out. so where is it? take look out to the west. the gulf coastal states. see the red too. that's indicating that there's a potential of severe weather, tornado watch is in effect for parts of louisiana into tennessee as well as georgia, but no severe weather watches in our area. what we do have is dense fog advisors and that goes from the connecticut river valley into parts of vermont as well as new hampshire, dense fog advisory until about 9:00 and thisis area of blue right here, that's actually airport weather

to a quarter of mile. cloud cover out there, there may be a few breaks, wouldn't be surprised out toward the vineyard right now, temperatures in the 50s, cooler to the north and west and taking a look at the conditions in places like norwood right now. visibility has greatly improved. it was down to quarter of mile last hour, now up to 5 miles and we may even see a few breaks in the cloud cover, but as we get to the morning, the clouds will thicken up and we will see mostly cloudy conditions in the afternoon steadier by the evening but did you see the highs. take look. upper 40s, low 50s, above average, right around 47, so does come with the rain unfortunately but we are talking about mild conditions the next 24 hours. overnight temperatures in the 40s and that's when we will be dealing with very heavy downpours and tomorrow morning, commuter dealing with rhett roadways but 8:00, 9:00, rain will be coming to an end and few

day with temperature in the 50s. so the future cast looks like this. cloudy, fog this morning, 8:00 as we head toward the lunch hour, notice the cloud thickening up, could see few scattered showers arrive into western parts of new england and that will continue to push toward the coast as we head toward your evening drive. any areas you see here with darker shades of yellow and orange, that's indicating some of the heavier downpours. it could be a tough travel overnight tonight and even through tomorrow morning. noticing right that's where we are going to still see heavy rain. further north you go could see mix in know in parts of maine and we go through the early morning hours of thursday, most the moisture lifts to the north and start to see improvements with breaks in cloud cover. the amount of rainy where from an inch to inch and a half is possible which is good we need it. rainfall deficit is still well below average. we are 11 inches below average for the year and we still have the extreme drought. that drought monitor going to be

a look at the forecast. you see drying conditions, cooling conditions for friday and weekend mix of sun and clouds and partly cloudy conditions and temperature in the 40s and it will be tracking something early next week. there's latest look at the forecast. >> sara: new this morning at least 3 people are dead after strong and severe storms swept across alabama overnight. 4 children are also critically hurt after the 24 daycare center that they were at destroyed and same storm system heading our way but it will not be as officials say 3 people have died in what is being called tennessee's largest wildfire in century. it started in the great smoky mountain national park but strong winds and dry conditions caused the fire to spread. singer dolly parton, native of the area, released a statement in support of the destroyed communities. her dolly world theme park and nearby aquarium were among some structures that survived the fire. official are still investigating what sparked the flames.

beech street in the chinatown district and right in front of the coffee shop and going down hill from there and this is lobby of apartment building and if we zoom in you could see water inside you can see and having people go in and out of the back of the building and look at lagrange and pass this story here, past the restaurant, all of these businesses flooded out right now and you can see this part of washington street, it is just pretty much a river right now. what you're looking at right now washington street meets kneeland street and several workers from boston, water, down there right now trying to figure out where exactly this is all coming from. we know earlier this morning they did have trouble identifying exactly which main was broken here.

showed you, washington and lagrange, you can see the road is buckling here and boston water and sewer actually just told me that rooted is hollow and dangerous to be walking on quite bit of work and as this is all happening there's a lot of traffic issues we know kneeland street, very busy street in boston and 93 and come into the city. that is closed at harrison avenue. so that's going to be a problem for people and this street right here, beech streetls through street in chinatown, so it is a big mess and crews a lot of work ahead of them and going to be checking in with them, and 30 minutes.

child asked neighbor to get help -- to give her help to get baby to stop crying. the neighbor called police saying officers later found a 3-year-old and 5-month-old in the home living in deplorable conditions full of trash and animal waste. police also found the bodies of 3 dead infants. erika murray is due back in court in december. >> sara: a new hampshire daycare has been shut down after 3-year-old boy was found wandering alone on busy street. the toddler walked away from month. driver eventually stopped after seeing driver walk on busy highway onramp. the boy's mother that did not want to go on camera says her son has down's syndrome and can't communicate easily. voluntarily closed after the incident but never told what happened. locals we talked to says the stretch of road is treacherous.
