>> michael: d.a.'s office says officers recovered the knife inside and arrested frantz polynice on scene. fox25 will be in the courtroom when he today at brockton district court. fox25 news. >> sara: new this morning brockton police searching wooded area overnight after there was a car crash involving a police cruiser. this was a scene at around 1:30 in the morning. there are several officers and some police dogs on pleasant street there in the area of sumner street. police haven't said if they found anyone. we are working to learn more about what started the incident. >> gene: more than 24 hours later in boston's chinatown

water main break that flooded businesses. electrical cruiser still working on repairs. fox25 jessica reyes has been following the story since it broke yesterday morning and, jess, there's good news here, water in the streets has at least receded. >> jessica: 1 day after a massive water main broke in washington and kneeland streets, things looking whole lot better in downtown boston. >> we had 20 inch water main broke. >> jessica: broke of water in the streets. >> 3 feet of water in the basement. >> jessica: initially only shut down a handful of businesses but in kneeland street there was a number of electrical fires. >> fire with a lot of co. >> jessica: evacuations, 125 people in all, most from the boston hostile. >> we were in the second floor. >> jessica: boston pizza kitchen feet from where fires

cincinnati. daniel miller joins us with a preview. news sarah palin possibly joining the administration. >> daniel: yeah, that's right, gene. mr. trump will not be far from ohio. he will anybody indianapolis today where he is expected to be the first on his stop with the trump pence tour and deal that will keep 1,000 jobs with manufacturing carrier in the united states. mr. trump and vice president elect will be at the carrier facility but it is not open to the public. indiana state official say the favorable relationship with the trump administration. right now carrier's parent company receives $5.6 billion a year in federal money. trump had campaigned to try to work out a deal to keep those jobs like that in the united states and punish companies that move out of the country. now after stop in indiana he and the vice president elect will then head to cincinnati for thank you rally for voters and other stops are still up in the air this morning. trump campaign will include 30

the election. now, meanwhile there's new speculation who fill cabinet positions. sarah palin has emerged as cabinet for secretary of veterans affairs and she took to facebook and resharing work for veterans and puts her up against former massachusetts senator scott brown here. he has met with trump for the position and felt like he was the best man for the job and former massachusetts mitt romney has made the final cut for the secret trump transition team says former new york city mayor rudy giuliani has also made the list. there are also 2 other people up for the position but the trump team would not name them. they also say there's no timeline for final decision. in the newsroom, i'm daniel miller, fox25 news. >> gene: democrats are not happy with the pick for treasury

official sent letters to federal energy regulators as well as the houston company that owns the pipeline saying they failed to share important safety information with boston, fire and police departments. walsh previously filed federal lawsuit challenging federal energy regulatory approval of the project. last hour gene spoke with congressman stephen lynch about this issue. here is what he said. >> my concerns have not been addressed. they have been exacerbated because of the 2 incidents we have had have exploded elsewhere in the united states causing serious damage and some injuries. we are in federal court, mayor walsh has been great on this, right by my side as we have been fighting this. >> catherine: released a statement saying the project and all the facilities involved in it do meet or exceed federal safety standards and regulations. so again, the pipeline scheduled

rainy start but, shiri, there are 60s on the map. doesn't feel like christmas time. >> no, not at all. it is incredibly mild to get the day started. boston at 49?, but we do have parts of southeastern mass right now in the 50s, in the 60s, check that fox25 weather app because we have got a huge range in temps. winds sustained 14 miles per hour but what you're going to find are winds increase today. now, as we look back on november through monday, we only had abou1. wednesday's rain and basically doubled what we already had so far today we are talking about a third of an inch of rain in boston and done with the showers in boston and whole system has scooted closer to the coastline here, getting into the dry, breezy conditions right now, and you can see through 8:00, 9:00 this morning, only lingering showers out across the outer cape and already brightening up. looks fantastic in boston right now. we got the partly sunny skies, but this is the 1 thing you

of the kind of winds that we will be tracking today, 20, 30 miles per hour gusts coming out of the west. it is not going to do any damage but it is going to be a little bit pestering. hot spots today, and these are where i have some 60s on the map right now. you could dip a little bit down, get back up close to 60 this afternoon, but i think overall we are looking at a lot of upper 50s in sandwich and hyannis, plymouth at about 56, hull 55, 58 in new bedford, closer to the boston area let's go with mid-50s this afte 55? there. 54 in lowell, 55 in framingham, and then only upper 40s into the worcester hills and a lot of lower 50s and southern new hampshire. so as we start going inland, especially to some of the higher elevations, temperatures don't quite go as high. but i have to tell you near 60 degree highs on the map today, this is going to be the warmest of the entire week. we got temperatures that are going to be about 10? cooler tomorrow afternoon, followed by

that you have been forecasting. >> shiri: what difference couple hours makes. now, if we go all the way back to monday, monthly rainfall was 1.4 inches and then you add on to it tuesday, wednesday, basically doubled our monthly rain and on top of that, juicy start to december here with third of inch of rain early this morning in the boston area. of course, rain is done for now and drought monitor issued updates here remains unchanged. the reason why i know we have had a lot of rain the last couple of days, the data collection so they can kind of process all of these numbers and look at totals and what differences we see this week, the data collection ends on tuesday. so all the rain that we got this week is really going to end up being reflected in next week's drought monitor and hopefully we see slight improvements. now the system moving out to sea, leaving us with dry and breezy conditions.
