clear skies back in town this morning. what a great way to start the weekend. meteorologist shiri spear says we have got a nice stretch of weather heading into saturday and sunday, but some chilly temps as well. >> that's what we are dealing with this morning, right. temperatures running in the 30s. 34 in worcester. freezing in nashua, new hampshire. 38 beverly down to plymouth. 48 in boston and 40s for the cape. your hour-by-hour forecast does have a decent warm-up that doesn't take off until 8:00 this morning. 7 a.m., melrose. a.m. 42. 46 on tap for 11:00 this morning and highs that will track close to 50 degrees with a cup of scattered clouds popping up and gusty conditions especially day and island. how the winds impacting those wind chills and what to plan around today when i am back in 10. julie grauert up with drive drive time traffic north of the pike. >> julie: looking good route 1 from the north shore. no issues on 93 south through

somerville. expressway speed limit ride from the braintree split to naponset. 23 minutes on the pike eastbound. an easy 7 minutes on the expressway. 20 minutes on 93 south from 495 to the leverett connector. back to you. we begin this hour with breaking news. two college campuses, a police cruiser involved in an overnight crash. >> sara: all happened near wentworth technology and northeastern university. our catherine parrotta is live wher wentworth police officer, catherine. >> reporter: it happened just in this area that you see behind me. ruggles street that runs behind my. parker street that runs up and down. you can see this was the intersection where this occurred. tampa has been cleared right now and that is a good sign; however, the investigation does continue at this time. we don't have many details about what happened, but this what we know. the crash happened at the area parker and ruggles street overnight. our crew on the scene said an officer was in that cruiser.

minor injuries. take a look at this video, pause there was a second scene on mcgreevey way near parker street. several vehicles with their windows shot out. at this point we are working to learn how or if those incidents may be connected. as we mentioned where the cruiser was hit is right near wentworth, the campus here and near northeastern and right up the street from boston police department. so near a lot of different things here, and so we are still trying to peace together i checked for information from boston police department. i haven't seen anything just yet and we will continue to work on this for you. live in roxbury, catherine parrotta, back to you. new this morning, boston police are also investigating a shooting in dorchester. we are told that a male victim was shot in the face and chest at the corner of devon and normandy streets and a short time later a suspect was taken into custody. the officer on scene tells us that the victim is expected to survive.

"dawn of dynasty" starts at 10:00 sunday morning. developing news in lawrence, police are working to identify a headless body found along a river bank, and one local family are concerned it may be a teenaged boy missing for weeks. our jessica reyes is live in lawrence with some surrounding this body, jess. >> reporter: the body was found not too far along the banks of the merrimack river and the investigation is well under way this morning. the essex da's office said a woman was walking her dog when she found a decapitated body along the river bank and called lawrence police. friends and family members a team missing from lawrence since november are praying the body is not his. he has been missing since last

his cell phone, credit cards and social media. >> i just want to make sure that it is not him. because we want to from closure with this. he -- he has been gone and no word of him. and i am really worried. and concerned. >> reporter: and the medical examiner is now working to identify the body. police say that this does appear to be an isolated incident and they don't think there is any danger to the public, but, of course, the investigation does continue here this morning. sara, back to you. >> sara: will check back with you in the next hour. meanwhile a 18-year-old from brockton is being held without bail in the stabbing death of his own mother. franz polynice hid from cameras outside of his arraignment. they found him covered with blood and shaking uncontrollably. inside they found the body of his 44-year-old mother. neighbors told us they did not see any signs of trouble with this family before this hand. >> i would never think that he would kill his mother.

success in any field. >> reporter: all eyes are on how the pats now respond on sunday and on gronk's long-term health and future with the team. this will be the third time that dr. robert watkins have performed surgery on gronk's back. live in foxboro, michael henrich, fox25 news. man in his 70s is under going surgery after a violent home invasion. three men busted into the brockton home and tied the man up using his own suspenders. the men beat him and shocked repeatedly asked him where the cold was. took the man five hours to get free and call police once those men left. we spoke exclusively with the victim from his hospital bed. >> i am 72, i can't be pouncing off the damn floor. i just pulled on my suspenders as hard as i could and i finally got them off. it wasn't easy. i had a knife and found it and cut them off. >> gene: the victim will be having hip surgery this morning.
