12:31 pm
naperville the gusts are 30 miles per hour. frankfurt has gusts of 34 miles per hour. can we go to weather bug here and we will check this out and see what's happening. there we go. and here are the gusts. low naperville, frankfurt and mchenry. very windy and temperatures in the 40s. there is a plot of the wind gust if you like your wind gusts and map form. there it is. 30-mile-per-hour gusts all afternoon and so even the temperatures are above the 39 we had yesterday, by the way, it was the first day we didn't go above 40 since last march. so the coolest weather in about eight month pchesz winds are sustained at 23 and gusting to 31 at o'hare. it's 46 at midway. 45 at this hour in chicago heights. these are temperatures that will flirt with if not get into the low 50s today and then turn cooler tomorrow. winds come off the lake and it warms up perhaps near 60 degrees on sunday and into the 60s on monday before temps tank on us after that. we got some very cold air coming in thanksgiving week and there may be a weather system
12:32 pm
we have to watch for storm potential. other temperatures and wind gusts across the area and the view from buffalo grove of the mix of sun and clouds, a little dry slot coming in here with clouds up to the north of us. so we will see a fair amount of sunshine and that will help things warm up. see this big curl out here? is that big storm that is coming in off the pacific. snowing heavily on the western facing slopes of the rockies where snows have totaled up to 30 inches in the last couple of days around mount hood out to the west but the sierra of california, the cascades, the tetons, mountains near yellowstone and into glacier national park and the wasatch rains as well as colorado rockies in line for a snow. look at the weather advisories for the same. all the way from the dakotas back to wyoming and montana. and here is a plot from our rpm model. each of these little snow maximum is a mountain peak. that wall of granite serves as a lifting mek nsmg.

12:34 pm
southwest over the weekend? that will warm us up and bring a good storm out of the plains to the west of us and that puts us in its warm sector on monday where it might be thunderstorms. but today's south winds give way to tomorrow's northeast winds. cooler wrigley field for the illini and wild cats, big football game there as winds come off the water. then the southerly flow locks in. a warm front that comes north on sunday and by afternoon we could be close to 60 degrees. so there is a real schizophrenic quality to these temperatures. cold one day and then warm the next and moisture as you see in the dew points coming northward. not much now except near the mountain ranges but in the coming days it will change. may get a second storm next week that will track from northern texas into the ohio valley or midway. that thing can be close enough to us to give us rain or sleet on wednesday that would trnd later in the day or night to snow and it could stick and that will be interesting for
12:35 pm
our travelers. tomorrow cool northeast winds. introduces little bit that chilly air. see how the warm air buckles northward into this area on sunday and monday and then the cold air dives south. we get white and purples that show up. that's chilly air and you will notice how that comes into the area by wednesday and thursday of next week. thanksgiving day on thursday may struggle to get to 32 which will be the coldest temperature since february. so that really cool almost wintry air due later next week. but today we will settle for a 12-degree temperature increase over yesterday's 39. it will be partly sunny. quite windy. 35-mile-per-hour gusts. high of 51. and the winds averaging 16 to 30. partly cloudy tonight. winds will ease a bit and shift to the north, northeastward. morning, low temperature 34. and the winds coming down to 5 to 13 miles per hour. partly sunny. a bit breezy and cooler on saturday. highs in the mid-40s. northeast winds could reach 15 or 20 on occasion in the afternoon. but sunday they are back to the south again and start southeast
12:36 pm
in the morning off the waters so kind of cool at the start but mild in the afternoon and very windy with partly sunny skies. we will take rain out of the forecast sunday and put the temperature at 59. then couple of scattered showers. maybe a thunderstorm. sunday night or monday and monday can see low 60s around here. then tank to the upper teens by friday morning next week so between the beginning of end of next week we might have a 40 plus degree temperature spredz. got to -- spread. got to love autumn in the mid west. >> we will have the seven day later on. >> let me check your cavier knowledge. here is our trivia question. true cavier comes from what fish? sturgeon? mackerel? sward fish.
