condition. two other children were injured in this explosion, but we are told they are in good condition, expected to make a full recovery. joining me, chief from the chicago fire department. tell us what happened here tonight. >> at approximately 7:27 this evening, the we received phone calls from a possible house explosion. 12247 south oneda. fire department responded. full response, but due to the nature of the americansy, they immediately elevated it to a stolen box, what we call the stolen box response, due to a possible gas explosion, right now, it's under investigation and until we can determine what the cause was, it's to be determined because we don't know what caused it. >> was there a fire on the scene? >> the first arriving companies did not report a fire, which is

not uncommon. it's potential that the fire blew itself out. it's under investigation and it it has happened in the past in chicago where a small fire ignited it and immediately due to the exmotion, it blew the fire out. >> reporter: the gas company is here, electric company is here, are you clearing residents out? >> immediately, they determined an odor of gas because lines were fractured. immediately began sacking to the north and south of it, and as well as immediately across the street and to the rear, not knowing what the extent of the hazard was. >> we understand there was one person home at the time of the exmotion. >> one person in the residence when it blew up. he managed to make his way out on his own. immediately treated by ems when

they pulled up on the scene. >> reporter: two other victims, we understand, children, who were next door, not in the house. >> buildings to the north received structural damage. district chief, thank you so much for the information. >> bob and jackie, back to you. >> chicago police searching for information about the murder of a fellow officer are questioning a teen who is out of jail on parole. this, as the the information that leads to an arrest in this case is now up to $20,000. officer michael smith and steven peters were shot and killed friday afternoon. peters called police when he realized someone broke into his ford mustang. officers are questioning a 19-

year-old who lives across the alley where the murders took place. the man is on parole for a 2007 armed robbery conviction. we spoke with steven peters father about the shooting. >> he liked his cars. especially, he loved his mustang. it ended up costing him because that's what he was going out there to see about. whoever it was, was waiting for him and killed him. >> if you have any information about the murders, you are asked to call the chicago police. >> while police continue to investigate the murder of a chicago s.w.a.t. team member, fellow officers remembered their friend today. visitation in the chatham neighborhood for david blake wearing his olive green s.w.a.t. uniform. he was described as the ultimate partner, an aggressive cop, but a gentle friend.

4720 west montana. one firefighters got into the building, they found two adults trapped on the second floor. they were taken to local hospitals in serious condition. fire lieutenant suffered injuries and he was hospitalized as well. >> a cta train barreled into a car critically injuring the driver of the vehicle and sending the train into the l stop. randy bellisomo has the story. >> reporter: this is all that is left -- the driver attempted to maneuver around lower barriers, but the maneuver did not work. >> we heard like a real big boom and it started to shake. >> reporter: the first car of the northbound trail derailed, damaging the station and sheering the side of the platform. ryan heard it from the inside of his home and ran to help the driver who couldn't get out. >> hess head was smashed

clouds cloud says will thicken up enough that we will be talking about rain. look at the warmer temperature in st. louis, further west, cole air spilling into the northern plains and rockies. that's going to be moving into the chicago area tuesday, wednesday and thursday and that will produce some very chilly daytime highs. look at these numbers across the area tonight. it is cool out there, particularly because of that gusty breeze. dew point temperatures, a little higher than last night, in the 20's across the area. winds still fairly strong. wind speeds 5-15-miles per hour and occasionally more powerful wind gusts. look at the wind chill temperatures, it probably shave five or six degrees off the way the way would normally feel without the breeze, but it is

cool, nonetheless. look at the depickion of the next 10 days. cold air coming in mid-week, but way up to the north in western canada, spilling over the border in nine or 10 days, a big chunk of very cold air. tuesday. may the recipient of that. we'll watch that very closely over the next few days. watches and warnings, advisories with a developing storm out through the northern great plains and northern rockies, that's the system that will come into the chicago area tomorrow afternoon and evening. it's already producing some snow through parts of the northern rockies. will it produce snow for us? very good possibility we could see some rain change over to snow on tuesday, but probably leave a dusting behind. you can see the computer models producing the rain tomorrow. there's the snow, it will come close to us before the end of the an information.

clouds clouding up a -- skies clouding up a bit. low temperatures in the 30s. monday, clouds will increase, rain begins late, winds really kicking, high temperature 47- 53. comparatively milder day. tomorrow night, continued cloudy, again, some rain expected with a low temperature around 40 or so and for tuesday, the rain will change over to snow, look for a high temperature 39-44. that should occur early. temperatures will be falling throughout the day, again, not a major accumulation, but there could be a dusting. seven-day forecast, wednesday, a high of only 28 degrees. it's going to be a very cold day and then the cold air hangs around for thursday into friday. we try to recover a little by the week. maybe some showers on sunday, we are still watching that. temperatures back into the 40s. the week beyond, a really cold snap. okay. >> okay. >> we knew it was coming.
