the cook county morgue ... today county commissioners are focusing on problems at the morgue and the medical examiner's office randi belisomo is live outside of the cook county building with the latest developments >>some big measures have just passed that will bring sweeping change to the artists of the medical examiner the first of which being that the medical examiner will no longer hold the post for life the cook county board is working to amend whatever went wrong leading up to the revelations back in january that the more it was over capacity with bodies piled up on flores the county's chief administrative officer robin kelly is now facing questions from commissioners because she oversees the more she said the morgue has been cleaned up but

she has not taken catholic cemeteries up on its offer to bury those bodies that have been languishing at the morgue that's because she initially heard of the offer to the media and she has been unable to except because there was no formal offer of transportation for the bodies ... the catholic cemeteries says that it's a big misunderstanding an ordinance proposed past that reduces the term of the medical examiner from life to just five years the examiner can be removed due to negligence or malfeasance by the board ... also past is an ordinance introduced that requires the medical examiner to report to the board quarterly and places a 60 day time limit on how long bodies can be in the morgue. that comes in response to what a family just went through ...
