from hospital the other is still being treated. the gunman were likely gang members but the three teenagers shot or notwere not.. cook county's pension fund is more than five-billion dollars in the red ... and will go broke in 26 years according to new analysis. the report by the county's pension oversight committee shows that the city and state aren't the only ones with un- funded retirement plans. the report suggests several possible steps to close the gap... including increases in employee contributions and later retirement ages. the 5-point-2 billion dollar deficit at the end of 20-10 was seven times as big as it was 10-years earlier. cook county commissioner william beavers is holding a fund-raiser to help cover his legal bills. beavers is facing federal tax evasion charges. prosecutors say he failed to pay income taxes on more than 226- thousand dollars that he took from his campaign funds and his county expense account. beavers denies the charges.

today's event is at the mcdonald's on navy pier. it costs 125-dollars per person. the proceeds will benefit the commissioners legal defense. a once-influential real estate consultant will be sentenced today, for his role in a corruption scandal involving some of rod blagojevich's top aides. john glennon admitted, he withheld his knowledge of a kickback scheme involving the "chicago medical school," to protect a six-figure commission *he* received. eventually, glennon testified blagojevich administration. former bears quarterback jim mc-mahon is being sued in connection with his work as a board member of now defunct broadway bank. the sun-times reports the f-d-i- c is targeting mcmahon and others in a lawsuit to recover more than one hundred million dollars lost from 17 bad loans. two years ago, federal regulators closed the bank, owned by the family of former state treasurer alexi giannoulias.. according to the sun-times, mcmahon served on the board for six years -- after his career with the n-f-l.

million dollars each for two men accused of shooting five people in tulsa, oklahoma. 19-year-old jake england and 33-year-old alvin watts are charged with three counts of first degree murder and two counts of shooting with intent to kill. the victims are all african american men ... though investigators say they appeared to be random targets ... with no connection to the alleged killers or each other. authorities say ... before the shootings .. england posted a racial slur on his facebook page about the 2010 murder of his father. but so far ... police have not called the shootings hate crimes. authorities say england and watts were roommates. that were arrested after police matched england's burned pickup truck to a truck spotted at the crime scenes.

the special prosecutor in the trayvon martin case said that she will not turn the case over to a grand jury for a special indictment . legal experts say the parents of trayvon martin may have a strong case if they sue the homeowners association over their son's death. the teen was killed in sanford florida in february. neighborhood watch leader george zimmerman told police he shot martin in self-defense. zimmerman hasn't been charged because he's protected under the state's "stand your ground" law. but some lawyers say martin's parents could successfully sue the homeowner's association because the group gave zimmerman the power to police the neighbhorhood. hopes for a cease-fire in syria are fading. the syrian government had promised to withdraw its forces from cities by tomorrow. but over the weekend the foreign ministry said the regime would *not* commit to pulling its forces out unless armed rebels lay down their weapons. today, there are reports of new clashes between rebel fighters and syrian forces. and for the first time.. cross-

border gunfire has injured three people in a syrian refugee camp in turkey. north korea is expected to go forward with a controversial rocket launch this week. the north korean government allowed journalists to record these pictures of the launch site, to back up its claim the mission is to send a science satellite into orbit. but western diplomats say, the launch is just a cover for a ballistic missile test. at the same time, new images from space reveal north korea is preparing an underground cave for its third nuclear test. many analysts see these actions by korea as a bid to extort more aid from the international community. new jersey residents aren't so happy about footing the bill for whitney houston's funeral security. the late singer's home town of newark, new jersey spent 187- thousand dollars in police overtime. nearly 200 police officers were stationed at the new baptist church where the service was held. many taxpayers argue houston's family should have paid for its own security. newark's council memeber said police protection was necessary to hold back the thousands of people who swarmed the area for the funeral.

a family in elgin spent their easter mourning the loss of a marine killed in afghanistan. family and friends of 21-year- old alex martinez paid their respects yesterday at elgin's veterans memorial park. martinez died on thursday in afghanistan's helmand province. it was his second tour of duty there. his parents received his remains at the dover air force base in delaware over the weekend. chicago area residents might be able to go camping next year... right here in cook county. the forest preserve is looking at plans to open up some areas of the county's 68-thousand acres of forest preserve to campers. campers used to be allowed in the preserve... they could even build their own cabins. but that stopped in 19-29 when it got out of hand with littering and overcrowding. now, the forest preserve is looking at options for campers... including security, and on-site staffing.

a record number of families were expected to sign up on line for summer day camps and other programs at the chicago park district. there have been a number of complaints from people waiting a long time for processing on the website. but it handled the volume. at eleven thirty -- there were 7,600 completed registrations. the website is www.chicagoparkdistrict.com in person registration begins on saturday the 14th. if you got locked out of a popular park district program -- the parks district says try another location. in medical watch.. a mother's weight and diabetes could be a risk factor for autism. a new study found pregnant women who were obese were 67 percent more likely to have a child with autism.. compared with normal-weight mothers who did not have diabetes or high blood pressure. the researchers report a pregnant woman who is obese also doubles her child's risk of having another developmental disorder.. such as poor

communication skills or lack of attention. the study appears in the journal "pediatrics". scientists have discovered two gene variations that appear to increase the risk of common childhood obesity in the first few years of life.. even in children as young as two. the gene variants predispose some children to obesity more than others. it's not clear exactly how the genes work.. but the researchers say it may have something to do with bacteria in the gut. previous research has isolated gene variants that impact extremely obese children and adults.. but this is the most extensive effort yet to pinpoint genes involved in more typical childhood obesity. eating berries may lower men's risk for parkinson's disease.. according to a new study. researchers analyzed data from more than 130-thousand men and women. the study shows men who regularly ate foods rich in flavo-noids, such as berries reduced their risk for developing parkinson's by 40 percent. no such relationship was found in women. flavo-noids have also been

for trees and weed pollens are off the charts the mold spore situation is lower. and we are experiencing the close temperatures since early march we are looking at temperatures in the high 40's and into the low '30's overnight and we will climb back up into the 50s moderating slowly by the time we get to friday temperatures will be into the '60s and then hopefully in the '70s by the coming weekend.
