>> taking a look, we're going outdoors and it is a fresh one because those temperatures are fresh out there right now. it is feeling chilly, near the lake in the chicagoland area low 40s and mid-30s in the suburbs, a chilly night tonight and temperatures have already started to fall back it is 42 at o'hare and we've got decreasing cloud cover but today all about the temperatures and feeling more like the end of winter than the end of spring. and so we've had the temperature high today in chicago, the coldest across the country at 46. 76 in boston upper 70s in savannah georgia and on the southwest coast temperatures in the 90s, phoenix at 96 and they even beat us in alaska, a high in anchorage at 47.
12:20 am
cool today. temperatures not doing a lot in the last several hours, still in the mid-40s in chicago and to the north of us, gaining a couple of degrees 50 degrees in green bay to the south, in the 60s, in the colder air mass, all of it because of a cold front, over half of chicago yesterday and then kind of swept right through, bringing in cold temperatures to the south, 25 30 degrees and these winds are still blustery out of the north 20-25 miles per hour. and so it feels like outdoors 38 in some locals and i've said it at other times, yesterday was valparaiso was 77 and 38 right now. and bartlett this is the area we'll be concerned about, in dekalb county clearing the skies out overnight tonight,
12:21 am
as it gets chilly out there you will see some frost. in the blue area that is actually a frost advisory. it is cold everywhere you go out tonight with the winds coming out of the north off the lake all of it because of a cold front moving to the northeast and you see where that cold front lies right now along with the showers and the thunderstorms here further to the south and now a weak rink of high pressure builds in over chicago, and that will give you a lot of sunshine for your saturday forecast but a weak disturbance comes in, bringing in the cloud cover by evening and we'll be flirting with maybe a little bit of some light rain in the western suburbs for your sunday forecast but we look for high pressure to build right back at the start of monday. a closer look you see the rpm model shows skies clearing out overnight tonight in a few hours and looking to west you see increasing cloud cover, this at 3:15, thinner cloud cover out there. pushing in mid-level clouds
12:22 am
lower clouds and then the rain will be to the west it will be very light for chicago and so this is the rainfall amounts in the next few days. you can see just how light it is out there. and actually it is falling apart. and there is a reason why that rain is falling apart because we'll have those winds coming off the lake the next couple of days and when you push in dryer air at the surface that rain there is just nothing to support it. what are we looking at next? we want to warm up don't we? there is a strong low-pressure system out in new england that is going to stick around and so a big ridge is moving out to the west, we want it to move in closer. it will take its time it will be here by midweek or the end of work week where temperatures will be well above average and then temperatures start to moderate in the next week and the forecast tonight temperatures falling back especially in the outlying areas and we'll be in the lower 30s
12:23 am
remember there's some frost out there and then lower 40s near the lake with winds still gusty out of the north/northeast and your forecast for tomorrow, a lot of sunshine to start. a nice saturday, but chilly. blustery with those winds coming off the lake and when the winds come off the rake then you are going to see you know temperatures struggle a bit. maybe inland you will be in the lower to mid-50s but near the lake you are still going to be in the upper 40s which will be a problem and then saturday night, still chilly. a passing sprinkle, mostly in the western suburbs and sunday, partly sunny still brisk and temperature high in the lower 50s, the all-important seven-day forecast, that is what we're talking about chilly, winds coming off the lake and look for mostly sunny skies on monday and temperatures moving up, above average which we've talked a lot about this spring,
