opening statements are under way as trial begins for the man accused of killing three members of the singer jennifer hudsons family. >> good afternoon everyone thank you for joining us this afternoon we are at the cook county criminal court with our top story. >> the trial was set to begin at 11 but that did not happen. jennifer hudson is in the building but not in the courtroom for opening statements. the prosecution opened by telling the jurors i will kill you if you leave me and you will be the last one to die that days last words her ex

boyfriend said to his ex girlfrined weeks before killing three members of her family. police say he did this because he was jealous after sheet has a new boyfriend. the three bodies were found in their family home and at the man was found days later. police found a weapon near the house that they believed was the murder weapon. jennifer hudson is receiving a lot of attention but julia hudson would deliver the most compelling testimony and will tell jurors that he threatened to kill her family a dozen times before he committed the murders.

prosecutors are attempting to connect the dotted lines and the defense claims that there is no physical evidence linking him to the murders. he faces a life sentence if convicted. >> former u.s. attorney dan webb has been named as a special prosecutor to investigate a deadly fight involving a nephew of former mayor richard daley. koshchmans family has long claimed there was a cover-up and the police investigation we are at the criminal court building

this morning with more of. >> in this role special prosecutor webb investigate whether criminal charges should be filed in the 2004 death of koshcman after he was punched in the back of the head and killed after the nephew of daley said the fight was in self-defense. i have no bias here whatsoever i intend to fairly investigate this case as i have done with other cases throughout my career. wherever he facts bring me they bring me.

day care center. four months old anna belle chung died saturday three days after paramedics were called to this home for report of a baby who was not breathing. there were no outward signs of injuries but her parents are not being investigated at this time. dcf's said it investigated the same day care in 2010 on allegations of abuse against another child. >> a young toddler was ejected from a vehicle this morning during a traffic accident. police say an suv crashed into an unoccupied school bus the suv landed on its top it happened at around 9:00. police said there was a woman and two children
