there. rose had 23 points and the bulls were in charge and in good shape but thanks to a late philadelphia run rose was back in the game with 1:20 left. the bulls still up by 14. makes a pass came down in pain. rolled over on his back and was escorted off the floor. they won 103-91 but they took a huge body blow. missed 27 games during the regular season and this injury perhaps the worst in modern chicago sports. reminding me of a injury in the 1960s, when a player was cut down. >> that ligament runs right behind the knee. tough to repair. he's definitely out. >> he's out for this year and it may linger into next year. a year and a half. by the middle of next season he'll probably be okay but it will be a long rehab. >> poor guy. >> we wish him the best. >> what started out as a simple retrieval of a lost phone has

now turned into a man shot and the search for the gunman. wgn's dan joins us life from loyola university medical center where the victim is hospitalized and with the twist and turn of this story, that the victim never expected. dan? >> yeah guys so far the victim has not been identified so no word on his condition. a very disturbing sequence of events here tonight. a man loses his cell phone and is shot by the man who found it. >> forest park police were called to the 7-eleven. a man had been shot in the parking lot. a team of investigators interviewed witnesses and combed the scene for hours looking for evidence. police say the victim had lost his cell phone earlier in the day. when he called it a man answered and agreed to meet him at the 7-eleven to get his phone back. when the two met up police say the man what found the phone demanded money. the owner of the phone said no.

and that is when police say shots were fired. >> the victim came here and the defender demanded money for the phone the victim refused. the commender shot him. the gunman ran away. police searched the surrounding suspect but didn't find him. >> according to witnesses, it sounds like it was probably a robbery that went bad. the defender was last seen fleeing on foot. that's what we have right now. >> at this hour police only have a vague description of the suspect. they say they are working on several leads but so far no arrests have been made. anyone with information should contact forest park police. >> dan, thanks so much. in gary indiana a man has been charged with murder. 31-year-old calvin peacock was charged after authorities unearthed the still unidentified victim at peacock's home in the 3900 block of calhoun street. that's just outside the gary city limits.

it is not known how long the body was buried at peacock's home but police do not think that the burial happened recently. state police executed a search warrant at the home yesterday after receiving information earlier in the week that human remains might be located there. >> on the south side three people were hospitalized after a shooting outside a lounge in the park manor neighborhood. it happened at about 3:30 this morning in the 500 block of east 75th street. one victim was shot in the abdomen and taken to the hospital. another victim was shot in the hand and taken to jackson park hospital. no details have been released on the third victim. police are looking for a suspect. >> prosecutors call him a serial thief with a mean cyberstreak. one couple says this suspect turned their lives upside-down when they reported him to police. randy reports on this bizarre case of cyberstalking. >> rene and steve are engaged to

of sellers steve and rene really were. when he learned they were on to him the harassing phone calls began. >> he would sit there and you could hear like porn playing in the background and him breathing like heavy, like you know just into the phone you know he would do this a hundred times a night. >> he says believes lowe even set up an ad targeting gay men and those men began to solicit steve for sex but it went further. steve says lowe began threatening the life of couple's 3-year-old son via text message. >> is your son in the bedroom, sleeping, do you know where he's add? >> liu is a chinese national whose believed to be here illegally for a decade. prosecutors say he's responsible for some 90 burglaries in cook county of merchandise worth more than half a million dollars. he now faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted of multiple counts of theft, cyberstalking and damaging victims' businesses. >> we had customers buying you know five or $6000 in furniture and they would come

>> authorities in washington state found a body inside a bunker where a murder suspect was hiding. the person died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound the sheriff's office believes it's the body of peter keller april williams reports that he's suspected of killing his wife and daughter. >> the stand-off between peter and investigators began on friday after they found evidence leading them to this hillside bunker outside seattle. >> this isn't a hole in the ground. it's a large built up structure but hidden. it took some time to find it. our tactical team smelled the wood smoke coming before they saw it. >> peter keller had been missing for nearly a week after a fire at his home.

it came two weeks after a supposed cease-fire that you meant to bring an end to the violence in syria. the government is blaming terrorist groups for the suicide bombing. however opposition forces say the government was probably behind the blast. the crumbling cease-fire was announced by the united nations earlier this month with the hope of ending the 13 months of violence and unrest in syria. a small earthquake rattled homes in southern california. the quake struck a little after 8:00 this morning causing buildings in downtown los angeles to sway. and it shook some people out of bed. the u.s. geological survey had put it at a 4.1 magnitude but later downgraded it to a 3.8 magnitude quake. a 2.0 magnitude after shock hit a short time later. no damage or injuries were reported. >> well, this is washington's night to laugh at itself. >> next. inside the white house correspondent's dinner. >> and later, a dinner spot a little closer to home.

an in. we're expecting rain by tomorrow evening and then on monday and then on tuesday, and then on -- well, i'll show it to you. take a look at this. this temperature in chicago, 28 degrees warmer than the temperature in st. louis today. it was that temperature gradient there, that helped to trigger some big thunderstorms they are still moving through parts of southern illinois and southern indiana at this hour. temperatures across the area, in the mid-40's every place. 46 at both o'hare and midway. 44 degrees along the lake front. temperatures fairly consist kept all throughout the chicago area. winds continue to come off lake michigan. that's one of the problems we had. that ended to keep the air a little cooler than it otherwise might have been. the water temperature is in the 40's in the middle of the lake. right off the chicago lake front it's just 52. that's having an impact as those winds continue blowing from the

north -- northeast and east. that's going to continue tomorrow. look, however, at wind chill numbers. i promised you these. you can see how much cooler the air feels at this hour. in fact out to the west some spots have air that feels like it's in the 30's. now we're expecting a little bit of a warm-up midweek as this computer model suggests. probably wednesday into thursday, we'll make it into the mid to upper 70's, and some of you may, in fact see an 80 degree temperature. especially down in some of the southern suburbs. but it will cool down a little bit right after that warm-up. but we're hoping for more warm air the week beyond. now these storms have been popping up over the past several hours. powerful thunderstorms that have produced some strong winds and hail in those areas. but the only tornado reported today was in association with that system moving through north-central texas. just a brief touchdown no damage reported. and it continues to rain in parts of the northeast as this system pushes closer and closer to the atlantic.

now watches and warnings will obviously a severe thunderstorm watch in effect down in texas in this area of southern illinois is under a tornado watch. that, in fact continues in effect until about 10:00 this evening. or about 25 more minutes. but notice on the other side of lake michigan through parts of northwestern indiana and eastern michigan, that's, in fact a freeze warning. temperatures there tonight could drop into the low 30's at the very least. our computer model shows that tomorrow night about this time rain will be coming up from the southwest. that's not only going to produce some showers but perhaps some thunderstorms. then on monday we get some more of it and that's just the tip of the iceberg. it looks like we have five days that there will be a chance of rain. here's our forecast for tonight. across the area skies, well mostly cloudy. we'll call it passing clouds this evening. lake wind and a bit blustery. 37 to 41 by morning. with the wind at 8-18 miles per
