president obama is the first sitting president to announce his support for same-sex marriage. for me personally it is important for me to go and head and a firm that same-sex moc couples ought to get married ... the president made the announcement yesterday during a white house interview. presumptive republican nominee mitt romney quickly reiterated his opposition to the issue. some wonder whether the president's support of gay marriage will hurt him in the november election. in our last hour... wgn "politics tonight" on cltv paul lisnek... said it may create the momentum he needs to win. 50 percent support gay marriage

overall nationally but in the young people the numbers are in the upper 60's so i think part of the political calculation to the extent there is one has to energize the youth vote who has not been that thrilled with this president they did not turn out the vote and a big way in 2008 ... the president's announcement came a day after north carolina voters approved a state constitutional amendment banning same-sex marriage. a man suspected in the murders and kidnapping of a tennessee family is now on the f-b-i's "most wanted" list. officers say adam mayes killed jo ann bains and her 14-year-old daughter inside their home and kidnapped her two younger girls. police say mayes' wife helped him take the bodies to mississippi and bury them. teresa mayes is in jail, charged with murder and kidnapping. mayes is reportedly on the run with the two girls ... 12-year- old alexandria and eight-year- old kyliyah (ky-lah) bains. a 175-thousand dollar reward is being offered for information leading to his arrest. the wreckage of a russian plane that went missin during a demonstration flight over

indonesia has been found. the plane disappeared from radar screens while flying over a mountainous area yesterday. rescue workers spotted debris from the crash this morning. no survivors have been found. the russian investigative committee said the jet had 48 people on-board ... including potential buyers journalists and a russian flight crew. the cause of the crash remains under investigation. prosecutors are expected to rest their case today in the john edwards trial. they plan to call leo hindery as one of their final witnesses. hindery is expected to discuss how edwards tried to land a job in the obama administration. he was apparently interested in being the vice presidential candidate or the attorney general. edwards is accused of using nearly one million dollars in campaign donations to hide his mistress, rielle hunter, and their baby. the prosecution won't ask hunter to testify, but the defense is expected to call her to the stand. the flame that will burn during the london games was lit this morning during the torch- lighting ceremony in olympia

in medical watch: an f-d-a panel is expected vote today whether to recommend approval of the first drug to prevent h-i-v infection. "truvada" has been on the market since 2004 to treat people already infected with h- i-v. studies have shown the drug can cut the risk of new infection by at least 44 percent in healthy gay and bisexual men, when combined with condoms and counseling.. and by 73 percent in heterosexual couples in which one partner has h-i-v.
