and military personnel. >> back in chicago fall and illinois soldiers were honored today with a special tribute this ceremony was held this morning in grant park we have more details on this event. >> this event was held to honor illinois soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. this ceremony was held this morning for two larger and 43 soldiers from illinois that have died since the beginning of the war in iraq and afghanistan. this tribute is called illinois faces of fallen soldiers. this is a very historic site which holds the general logan

monument. one iraqi war veteran says this monument is a sight to remember the men and women who paid the ultimate price for our freedom. >> memorial day is an abstract holiday for people today people have no relation to a serving veteran is not like i was back when world war 2 was around. >> when this was first unveiled back in 1897 1/4 of a million people were here to witness it

were called to jericho lake just after 6:00 last night rescuers recovered the boy's body within an hour and he was pronounced dead at hospital. officials said the boy was found in 12 ft. of water about 25 ft. from the shore his name has not been released. >> a woman has been charged after she storm ambulance from this hospital late last night. this 30 year-old took the ambulance from a saint bernard hospital in now faces charges of theft to driving under the influence and dropping with a suspended license police say she drove the ambulance for about 1 mi. until she crashed into another vehicle thankfully no one was injured in she's expected to appear in court today. >> coming up next tropical storm beryl makes for a very wet memorial day for parts of the southern united states and a

tropical storm beryl is drenching parts of florida and georgia today. the storm has dumped more than 3 in. of rain on the region since coming

ashore near jacksonville for last night. all memorial day ceremonies in that area had been canceled. police in the detroit area are looking for the attacker who shot a pregnant woman and then set her on fire. the woman is expected to recover from the pack and early saturday in the detroit suburb of war in michigan police say her hands feet and eyes were taped and bound. she was forced into a vehicle and driven to a location in detroit where someone poured gasoline on her and sat around fire then shot her in the upper back. the woman was able to roll on the ground to put out the fire in and manage to break free from the tape and escape.
