can post the bond and be released from jail. judge learned he and his wife weren't honest about their financial situation. his wife claimed the couple was broke, even though a website created for his legal defense had raised $135,000. it was one year ago today casey anthony was found not guilty of murdering her daughter, caylee. the two year-old was found dead in december 2008. while police investigated the case, casey admitted to them she hadn't seen caylee for more than a month. the 12-member jury deliberated for nearly 11 hours before reaching the verdict. she was facing the death penalty. police in canada confirm that a human head found in a park in montreal this week, belongs to "jun lin," the chinese student who was killed and dismembered in may. the remains were discovered sunday. the suspect in the case, luka magnotta ... is in a canadian jail awaiting trial. police believe magnotta filmed lin's death and dismbemberment and posted the video on the internet. they found lin's torso behind magnotta's apartment. magnotta mailed other parts of lin's body to canadian politicians and two schools.

investigators say errors by pilots and failure to react effectively to technical problems contributed to the crash of air france flight 447. in their final report on the crash that killed all 228 people aboard.. investigators say the pilots lacked the right training to respond when the aircraft suddenly went into a stall and lost lift. flight 447 went down in the south atlantic in june of 2009.. during a flight from rio de janeiro to paris. flight recordings recovered from the crash revealed a state of confusion in the cockpit.. with pilots not responding to the stall warnings. a lifeguard in florida has lost his job... for *doing* his job. tomas lopez saw a man drowning in the water off hallandale beach. so he ran to help, and the man survived. tomas says, he thought his responsibility was to save lives. his bosses said, his responsibility is to stay in his own section of the beach. so they fired him. they also fired a second lifeguard who said he would have

in medical watch: a clinical trial is under way to measure the effects of the prescription painkiller oxycontin on children and teens. the study will look at safety, and determine if there are any significant differences from the way adults handle the drug. 154 patients aged six to 17 will be enrolled in the trial. drug maker purdue pharma says the young patients have diseases such as cancer or sickle cell anemia.. injuries such as severe burns.. or pain after surgery. the company is seeking fda approval for oxycontin use in children. doctors currently can prescribe it off-label to pediatric patients. if you want a baby, quit smoking before trying to get pregnant. that's the advice of french scientistss who found embryos of smoking mothers develop more slowly... suggesting the eggs of smokers were affected.

the researchers used time lapse photography to look at embroys from the moment they were fertilized until they were ready to be implanted. at all stages of development embryos from smokers were consistently a couple of hours behind. the study could not say what impact the slower development has, or if this affected the chances of having a child.. but the lead researcher says he would advise women who want to get pregnant, to kick the habit. vitamin d can prevent fractures in older women.. but the latest study finds only larger doses produce this benefit. swiss researchers found taking more than 800 international units of vitamin d daily can reduce the risk of hip fractures in older women by 30 percent. no dose below 792 i-u lowered the fracture risk. the study author says the impact on public health could be enormous if everyone took more than 800 i-u of vitamin d daily. hip fractures are the most severe and frequent fractures among the elderly. lunchbreak is next.
