a manhunt is on in lombard where police search for a burglar who broke into a home early this morning. police say they know they're suspect ... good afternoon. i am steve sanders. and i'm dina bair. nancy loo is live in lombard... with the latest details on the search. the tips are coming in that they are on alert but it's no longer an active man hunt ... police know who they are looking for the just need to find him. multiple police agencies joined forces to do this week through

northwest lombard where a burglar on the run crashed his vehicle before taking off on foot into the wooded area ... there was a midnight burglary to the north and wood dale along the 400 block of george street police arrested one burglar there and the other got away. the homeowners were not there and it's not known what was taken the overnight surge in lombard was quite extensive and police say that the canine unit did detect the suspect was here that so far he has evaded capture >>if there's a good chance he got away we can negate the fact he could be harder down somewhere hiding we advise residents to report anything suspicious fire in 911 ... he is vaguely described as 6 ft. 2 in. african-american in his 30's ... it's not known what he was wearing the wood deal pleas of not release his name but he

does have a prior criminal record it is still not known whether or not the suspect is armed the body of a northwest indiana teen who drowned this weekend in lake michigan has been recovered. corey mcfry's body was found on the ogden dunes beach by a coast guard member... about a quarter mile from where he was last seen. waves apparently swept the 15 year-old underwater while he was out swimming with friends sunday. the coroner was on the scene this morning but said there would be no autopsy since there were witnesses to the drowning. doctors in chicago say they're worried about a spike in area drownings in recent weeks. about ways to be safe when out on the water. randi belisomo is live at lurie children's hospital with more on drowning dangers. >>every two days seems to bring word of yet another drowning and now doctors here at this hospital are warning parents as the rip currents are in effect

estimated at 1.6 billion dollars. among the projects: the resurfacing of nearly 100 main streets in chicago and the overhaul of the wells street bridge over the chicago river. as well as installing vaulted sidewalks and accessible ramps on portions of michigan avenue and state street. will the magnificent mile be the next times square? a chicago alderman has introduced an ordinance allowing michigan avenue shopping centers to put up flashing signs. the buildings must have at least 10 tenants and 300-thousand square feet of space. water tower place ... the shops at north bridge ... and 900 north michigan shops would qualify. signs could not be larger than a thousand square feet and more than 80 feet off the ground. and the same image would have to stay up for at least 20 minutes. one chicago preservationist says he worries michigan avenue will morph into a boulevard of jumbotrons. coming up next: the battle of health care continues.... house lawmakers prepare to vote on repealing the affordable care act.

the u.s. house is expected to vote tomorrow on the latest attempt by republicans to repeal the affordable care act. two house committee hearings on the impact of the health care reform law are being held today. wednesday's vote will be the first since last month's supreme court ruling that upheld the constitutionality of the law. president obama and the democrats say the ruling should end the political debate over the affordable care act.. but the republicans still call for eliminating the law and starting over. house republicans have tried a number of times to repeal the affordable care act or cut funding for various provisions. but even when passed by the house, the measures have mostly died in the democratic- controlled senate.

federal authorities reveal the indictment in the case of a murdered u.s. border patrol agent. brian terry was killed in a shoot-out along the arizona- mexico border in december 2010. the indictment says five men entered the u.s. illegally to rob marijuana from drug traffickers. when terry and other agents tried to arrest them, gun-fire broke out. five men are now charged with his murder. officials are offering up to one million dollars for information that leads to the arrests of four of the suspects. the fifth is already in custody. several dozen border patrol agents are being redeployed as their stations are closed over the next six month. the government is closing stations in dallas, san antonio, lubbock, amarillo, san angelo, and abilene, texas.. riverside california.. billings, montana.. and twin falls, idaho. 41 agents working at those stations will be moved closer to the u.s. southern and northern borders. a spokesman says the change was not influenced by any recent news involving immigration. closing the nine stations is expected to save 1.3 million dollars a year.
