peterson trial wraps up in high drama. kathleen savio's sister testified that weeks before her death savio said peterson had threatened to kill her. testimony was cut short when the juror got sick today. reaction from the county courthouse in joliet. >> we have a very important statement from kathleen that drew was going to do something to her and make it look like an accident. >> kathleen savio's older sister took the stand today and told the jury that six weeks before her death, kathy told anna that, quote drew had told her he was going to kill her and she was not going to make it to the divorce settlement that she would not get his pension or the kids. she said kathy made her promise over and over to quote take care of my boys. defense attorneys called anna who appeared confused at times a liar. >> if you tell the truth you don't have to remember what they

check next week. it was on the way to kansas city when the bus crashed into a pillar. it killed a university of illinois dental student. several others had to be extra kated from the bus. victims say they got limited information on what happened to cause the accident. >> they told me blown tires. they do try to throw the bus, ran into a brick wall or something i don't know. >> the federal motor carrier safety administration says megabus usa has a satisfactory rating and the buses are involved in six crashes in the last two years. over the last two years, seven drivers were given violations for driving while tired. hiring is up but so is the unemployment rate. the economy added 163,000 jobs in july far better than the 100,000 analysts they were expecting. but job growth picked up the rate picked up from 8.3% to 8.2%

chicago today made it up to 95 degrees. but take a look at that. no that's correct. not an error. 113 degrees today in oklahoma city. that tied the all-time record high temperature for that date. but notice up to the north and west, a pocket of cool air sliding south out of canada. now that is going to be preceded by a little shift in wind direction that will usher in the cool air the cool front will be making its way to chicago late tomorrow. we are expecting a very hot and humid day across the area saturday. but with the passage of the cold front, we do expect a beautiful day on sunday. temperatures all across the region at the moment. you can see it's warm out there. o'hare reporting about 79 degrees, what about the winds? well, as i said, coming off of lake michigan but at the time, there's a shift in wind direction sweeping around to the southeast and moving more

southerly. that's going to usher in a hot day tomorrow. in fact we'll make it to 97 degrees. so be prepared for a hot one. down to the south and southwest of chicago this is an excessive heat warning heat advisory in effect. they do include the chicago area. in the north and west, severe thunderstorm watch with a few warnings embedded. notice the gray areas around chicago with the north and the west. that's an air pollution action day that's been declared effective through tomorrow at midnight. expect problems if you have difficulty breathing with such offenders as ozone and some par tick -- par tickkck -- particulates in the air. we could have another hot one around thursday with the temperature above 90 but most of the coming seven days with the exception of tomorrow, should be in the 80s.

a good look at current temperatures. you can see that cooler air up to the north and west. but it really gets warm as you check out parts of missouri and extreme southwestern illinois. big storms tonight rattling to minnesota. minneapolis getting hit. that's in association to the approaching cold front. that will make its way to chicago. we're thinking tomorrow evening. probably between 6:00 and 8:00 p.m., could be strong. more storms down through the southern plains and parts of the southeast. north georgia and western carolina is getting hit. the storm prediction center has outlooked our old section of the midwest here for a slight chance of severe storms. so stay close to a forecast tomorrow. some of these storms could be powerful. the big offenders will probably be strong winds and hail should they occur. there you go the storms late in the afternoon to be followed by this computer model by

two-run shot. sox led 9-1 in the first. angels were able to take the lead. driving in the run for third. l.a. would take a 6-9 lead. in the seventh, the sox came back. a clutch hit from alejandro derosa. this one a ground rule double making it 6-6. kept the angels at bay. alex rios gets the high pick and drives it to center. two-run shot to win the game. second of the night for alex. the sox stay 2 1/2 up over the tigers. alex rios has been here all year long. underestimated, undervalued for a lot of people. solid for anybody in the league. he played great for us. a big win. it happened to the right guy. >> always wild in southern california. not for the cubs tonight.
