to state police investigators will sit testify that the death of kathleen savio was an accident ... and now the prosecutors have to cast doubt on the police investigation they want to say it was botched and therefore they have no credible evidence ... they're trying to put the burden of proof onto the drew peterson team who maintains that that isn't a proper strategy ... a witness said that u.s. suspicious of the way the kathleen savio arrow dead body was positioned the bathtub was cleaned ... he asked state police investigators if this was believed to be suspicious but the prosecutors did not hear that it was from that witness ...

both candidates know it will take lots of money to get their message across to the voters and that's another reason for the visit to chicago: fund-raising back in june mitt romney raised more than $3 million today he hopes to add to the war chest with two events in downtown chicago where tickets are costing between 5000 and $75,000 per person this stop in chicago comes days before the president returns home for three birthday fund-raising events this weekend ... these are all private residences ... it's a battle for the polls and for fund-raising ... mitt romney raised $100 million in july the president brought in 75 million and it is

another consecutive month that romney has won the fund raising more ... war however the president has raised $92 million in total but mitt romney is on pace to catch up in time for the november election president obama took a shot at romney's tax proposals.. comparing his republican opponent to a well known literary character. >>he has asked the middle class to pay more in taxes yet he can give another $250,000 tax cut to people making more than 3 million per year it's like robin hood in reverse ... its romney- hood!

a report from the non-partisan tax policy institute claims romney's tax proposals will create a tax increase for the middle class.. and cut the tax bill of the nation's most wealthy people. the romney camp disputes the study findings, saying it doesn't take all of romney's plans into account. an i-dot worker is in critical condition after being hit by a driver on the outbound lanes of the dan ryan. it happened about midnight. the minuteman got out of his truck to help a motorist with a flat tire at 26th street. the worker -- an army veteran -- has broken bones and internal bleeding. illinois state police say they have little information about the car that hit the worker. >>after interviewing all the parties at the scene the only description we have available is that it was a great passenger sedan ... state police say that car has damage on the right passenger view mirror. state police are asking you to call them if you have any information. police are looking for the driver of a semi-truck that fatally hit a woman on a bike on the south side. the truck hit the victim in the 3-hundred block of west 47th street, near the dan ryan expressway ... shortly before 2:00 yesterday afternoon. the woman, believed to be 35 to 45 years old, was dead at the scene.

police haven't released a description of the truck. a new, strong reminder about the dangers of swimming in the great lakes. the latest report shows 69 people have drowned so far this year, and at least one person is still missing. eight of those deaths have happened since the beginning of the month. all of these victims were males and were between 17 and 50 years-old. there have been 230 drownings since 2010. august sees a lot of drowings because the water is warmer and the winds blow from the north... creating more waves... more people are doing "staycations"... and people don't understand how strong currents can be and overestimate their swimming abilities. the greath lakes surf rescue project recommends people know the signs of drowning, and rip currents. if you ever get caught in a dangerous current, experts say: flip, float, and follow. indiana state fair officials sent thousands of pigs home because of concerns over swine flu. the decision was made yesterday, after six pigs developed high temperatures. it will be several days before state officials can confirm if the pigs at the state fair do

have swine flu. four cases of swine flu were reported at the la porte county fair, and three other counties are looking into unconfirmed cases. so far, no cases of human illness have been reported. the pipeline that leaked more than a thousand barrels of oil in a wisconsin field -- will be restarted today. enbridge incorporated -- says it will open up the pipeline after getting the greenlight from u.s. regulators. enbridge was ordered to increase safety around the pipeline and reduce its operating pressure. the leak was discovered a week and a half ago in "grand marsh," a town north of madison. it's the lastest in a series of accidents linked to the canadian company. two years ago, a ruptured line spilled 20,000 barrels of oil into the kalamazoo river in michigan. coming up: the attack in wisconsin has touch members of the sikh faith around the world. and: students may soon be able to save big bucks with a new program from amazon. and what a new study says about whether sports drinks are

as members of the sikh religious community mourn the loss of lives ... we're learning more about the gunman who killed six people at a temple in oak creek. wisconsin. hundreds turned out for a service and candlelight vigil last night at a sikh temple in brookfield, wisconsin. another is planned in the milwaukee area tonight. police say 40-year-old wade michael page was responsible for sunday's shooting spree in oak creek. page was shot and killed by a police officer during sunday's rampage. the southern povery law center - which tracks hate groups - says page was a member of two racist punk bands. dignataries from india are heading to the midwest to celebrate a wedding this week. but now .... they're also here to attend funerals for those who were killed in the wisconsin temple shooting spree. wgn's julian crews is live at o'hare: it was supposed to be a joyous celebration the arrival of a very important dignitary the chief minister of punjab one of the most prosperous regions in

upset the bride on the big day lots of brides and grooms are having photo booth areas set up so that you can later put that on social media and it's more controlled ... people are so addicted to social media ... they have to learn to manage expectations with communicating with people ... that's where the bride and groom needs to do some advance work and polish up their communication so they don't hurt any feelings ...

now's your chance to live like a former chicago mayor. the condominium where richard m daley lived after he left office is up for sale. it's a three-bedroom condo in the bloomingdale's building on north michigan avenue. the condo is owned by the developer, jmb reality and lists for over two-point seven million dollars. the mayor moved out of the building in june. there's a rally against violence and it's taking place around the country today. it's called "national night out." there are two events in chicago being held this afternoon from two to six thirty. one event begins at cole park

and ends with a rally at nine thousand south king drive at tuley park. other events are being held in wheaton, orland park and in dupage county. the events promote neighborhood spirit and partnerships with police to promote safety. illinois is teaming up with the state department of public health to launch a new instant lottery benefitting h.i.v. and aids care and prevention. it's called "red ribbon cash".. and it's being unveiled today. one hundred percent of the profits from "red ribbon cash" will go to support organizations focusing on prevention and care of aids and h.i.v. 814 aids cases and more than 1900 h.i.v. cases were reported in illinois last year. if you have a past due library book collecting dust in your home -- now may be a good time to return it. starting august 20th, the city will issue a "clean slate" for anyone returning overdue items. it's part of chicago's first library amnesty in 20 years. mayor rahm emanuel says the program will allow parents and children to start the school year with a clean record. the program runs through september 7th. after that, the next amnesty isn't expected to come until july 2015.

the space rover curiousity, which successfully landed on mars yesterday morning... is now sending pictures of mars in color. the first pictures were black and white images of rocks and a mountain. now, these colored pictures give us a better look at the planet's surface. one shows a dusty look at the horizon. curiousity will spend the next two years searching for evidence of life on mars. it has 17 cameras and equipment that can analyze dirt samples. kraft paid homage to the mars curiosity rover landing with an open-faced oreo -- complete with red-dyed cream and tire tracks. but don't expect to find the cookie in the snack aisle anytime soon. it was featured as a part of oreo's daily twist campaign. it's just an image of the oreo to represent something relating to that day. still to come this midday ....
