controversial remarks on abortion and rape... and still believes he'll have the support of voters in november. akin had until yesterday to quit the race, so the republican party can replace him on the ballot. but he ignored calls from party leaders and let that deadline pass. akin's campaign consultant says the criticism is out of line and inappropriate. once people have rushed to judgment based on talk with others not knowing his heart will want to embrace this congressman republican presidential candidate mitt romney has also called for akin to step aside. a tropical storm may force the republican party to postpone its national convention. the u.s. national hurricane center says tropical storm isaac may turn into a hurricane tomorrow, and it could slam into the tampa, florida area. the republican national convention is scheduled to be held in tampa next week... monday through thursday. the event will culminate with mitt romney officially receiving the g.o.p. presidential nomination. tampa's mayor says his city is trained and prepared for the storm, and has several contingency plans. he also emphasizes he's willing to call-off the convention... as human safety trumps politics.

illinois congressional candidate tammy duckworth will be among nine women who will speak at the democratic national convention. duckworth is running against republican incumbent joe walsh in the eighth district. also addressing the party faithful: longoria. the democratic national convention will begin on september third in charlotte north carolina. federal agents arrested a man from washington state on tuesday after he made threats against president obama. officials say 31 year-old anton caluori sent a threatening email to the fbi about the president. the fbi alerted the secret service which tracked caluori to his apartment south of seattle. officers found him waving a shotgun and he spoke about using explosive devices. a bomb squad searched the premises, but found no evidence of explosives. caluori will appear in federal court today. more than 30 years after her death... natalie wood's death certificate has been changed. during thanksgiving weekend 1981, wood's body was pulled from the waters off california's catalina island. originally, her death was ruled an accidental drowning. new evidence has convinced the classify the cause as "drowning and other undetermined factors." a ship captain claims he heard
