it's back to learning >>i want to be with my students this is my daytime home with them ... they will be good with this they will get right back into it >>teachers here haven't decided if they all make discussions of the strike part of the lesson plan but they do agree it has banned a life lesson students and teachers are also back in class today at lake forest high school. the teachers walked out a week ago in a dispute over salaries and benefits. the two sides reached tentative agreement early today on a new 4-year contract. the deal will be presented to union members for ratification.. and then to the school board for approval. district officials opened the high school monday and tuesday with administrators and volunteers.. but state education officials say those two days should not count as legal attendance days. a high school guidance counselor in south suburban olympia fields was fired after writing a racy book about women and relationships.

the rich township high school board voted unanimously last night to fire bryan craig. administrators say craig's conduct fell short of expectations and that his firing allows the district to return its attention to students. craig's book is titled "it's her fault." he says it gives women a "road map" to men and relationships. craig's attorney says his client's first amendment rights have been violated. final preparations are underway for closing arguments in the christopher vaughn murder trial. the prosecution and defense will deliver closing arguments tomorrow. vaughn is charged with shooting his wife and three kids in their family vehicle near channahon in 2007. the prosecution claims he killed them so he could move to the canadian wilderness, while the defense says his wife shot the children, then herself. vaughn decided not to testify during his five week trial.

representative jesse jackson junior has put his washington d.c. home up for sale... raising questions about his future in congress. congressman jackson left capitol hill quietly in june... revealing two months later that he was seeking treatment for bipolar disorder at the mayo clinic. his office has insisted all election in november. the four bedroom victorian- style townhouse is listed for "need to find a home of choice." jackson's office declined to comment. coming up next: more controversial comments surface from republican candidate mitt romney. and later: the warning from the fda about arsenic in many name-brand rice and rice products. and just ahead: a new study about the link between b-p-a and childhood obesity.

french magazine published cartoons of the prophet mohammed. critics say it throws fuel on the fire after a week of deadly international protests against an anti-islam film. schools and embassies will be closed on friday because it is the main muslim day of prayer. there has been no violence reported as a result of the cartoons so far. prosecutors in egypt have issued arrest warrants for several people... including two americans... in connection with that controversial anti-islam film. nakoula basseley nakoula is believed to be behind the film... and is among those charged. he denies any connection to thea pastor in florida is also wanted after admitting he was contacted by the filmmaker to promote the video. none of the people charged are believed to be in egypt. but if they're brought to trial... the charges could result in the death penalty. the funeral is being held today for a navy seal killed in an attack on the u.s. consulate in libya. glen doherty was one of four americans who died last week... in the attack that took place on the anniversary of september 11th. hundreds of mourners attended a wake yesterday in his hometown of winchester, massachussetts. the attack in libya also killed u.s. ambassador chris stevens and two other men. according to the libyan parliament... several people

have been arrested in connection with the attack a long-awaited report on the controverisal gun-trafficking operation known as fast and furious may be released later today. mexico. but critics blame it for contributing to crimes .. including the murder of u.s. border agent. the report by the justice department's inspector general is expected to spell out whether the botched plan was mostly the fault of agents in arizona ... or if the obama administration played a major role. more controversial remarks from republican presidential candidate mitt romney have surfaced - this time about chicago. romney suggested a pro-iranian terrorist could hold america ransom by threatening to blow up chicago with a nuclear bomb romney later explained that the u.s. could be blackmailed by iran ... and that's why it's important to keep iran from having a nuclear weapon. that video came from the same tape in which romney says the 47% of voters who don't support

with two more human cases confirmed this week in will county. in crest hill.. a man in his late 60's was hospitalized last month with west nile encephalitis. and in bolingbrook.. a woman in her mid-50's was hospitalized earlier this month with west nile virus fever. both were released from the hospital after a few days. a total of 95 west nile cases have been confirmed in illinois through september 17th. one of the most famous names in hospitals is expanding to the chicago area. the mayo clinic - based in rochester, minnesota - is teaming up with northshore hospitals which operates four medical facilties in the northern suburbs. that means northshore doctors can use physicians from the mayo clinic and send patients there. mayo doctors will provide northshore with specialists and research targetting cardiovascular .. cancer .... and neurological cases. the multi-year agreement is scheduled to start october first. the boyfriend of the american woman accused of murder in italy... says in a new book that he sometimes questioned her innocence. amanda knox and her now ex- boyfriend, were convicted of killing her roommate in 2009... but set free on appeal last

time for sports: the white sox traveled to kansas city having lost seven of their last eight games to the royals... but alex rios proved to be the difference-maker again. gavin floyd gave up just five hits in his second game back. sox down one run in the third... dwayne wise hits one to the gap in right-center, but david lough lays out for the diving catch. it's tied at 2 in the seventh when rios puts the sox ahead with a homer to left... his 24th of the year ties a career high. the sox score all three runs on solo home runs, and win their fifth in a row, 3-2. they still lead the tigers by three games. dusty baker back at wrigley with his 1st place reds. homer bailey shut down the cubs... striking out four, walking 2, and only giving up four hits in 7 1/3 innings. still no score in the sixth with the bases loaded for cincinatti, and ryan hanigan clears them with a double back to the wall.
