murder, though chiodos body still isnt found. we are in the early stages of this proceeding so at this point we just have to let the legal process take its course defense attorney michael omeara heard some of the evidence against his client for the first time sunday... including what police found inside the calumet city home where clark and chiodo lived. according to court records investigators discovered blood throughout the home. outside they found garbage cans filled with a blood stained rug and bath mat, a womans skirt, broken furniture and a plastic shower curtain covered in blood. evidence they used to charge clark with chiodos murder, even though the 41 year olds body hasnt been found. chiodo disappeared last weekend, and while clark told *investigators he hadnt seen her since a fight last sunday, he allegedly told his brother on the phone after his arrest that he woke up in bed to find chiodo in his arms covered in blood and he tried to give her mouth to mouth. the court records also say he

discussed telling the police where the body was located as long as he could 'get a deal'. if anyone can do anything to have him tell us where he put her. we just want to get her back here. her family needs to have closure. we need to have closure. chiodos family members, who came to court sunday, didnt talk on camera but told wgn (full screen) 'we also ask the clark family to please help us find gena .. we beg your mercy to find gena so we can put her to rest.' for now, clark will remain in jail. essentially the judge said that there will be no bond set. so he cant get out. even if he had a million bucks right now he cannot get out. clarks next day in court is tuesday morning where he could enter a plea, but his attorney would not say if that would happen or not. at the cook county criminal courts building sean lewis, wgn news.

>> there have been a series of fatal shootings in chicago this weekend. the most recent happened this afternoon when five people were shot, two of them killed. 28 year-old and a 30 year-old man were each shot in the head around 530. both were pronounced dead at the scene. a 23 year-old woman was shot in the stomach she is hospitalized in critical condition. earlier in the day a 40 year-old was shot in the leg. he is reported in good condition. no suspects are in custody and either shooting >> coming up on wgn news... it's their last chance to argue face to face in front of the nation. what to expect from the third and final presidential debate. a former presidential candidate and well known leader in washington has passed away. and where is congressman jackson? we'll have an update. hi jim.

we saw that last tide commercial with the parents and the cute little baby triplets... well wait until your triplets move back home after college. we were enjoying our empty nest. and now it's just a nest full of laundry. lucky underwear. we were going through so much of that bargain detergent... and the clothes didn't look as good. but since we switched to tide, we use much less. their clothes are looking much more...uh... what's the word? clean? employable. one of america's most outspoken warriors for peace has died. former senator george mcgovern was surrounded by family and friends when he passed away in hospice. he was a world war two hero whose anti vietnam-war stance defined his 19-72 presidential bid against richard nixon. mcgovern was first elected by the people of south dakota to the u-s house in 19-57, and he was later elected senator serving 18 years. he continued to express his anti-war views long after he left office.

a south american politician is putting to rest speculation on fidel castro's health. venezuela's former vice president showed a still photo of castro, he says was taken in the last few days. he says he met with the former cuban leader for five hours last friday and says he's "doing very well". there's been a surge in suspicion over castro's well being recently. he hadn't been seen in public since march when he met with pope benedict the sixteenth during his visit to cuba. >> your live illinois lottery drawing is coming up next... break

"the puppy mill project". the event was called "miles for mothers in the mills".. and it was held at larry fink memorial park to benefit "the puppy mill project".. and to honor and remember the dogs left behind to breed in puppy mills. adults and kids brought their family dogs along for a leisurely walk in the park. there were various pet contests -- including a halloween costume contest.. and an "ask the vet" forum. it's called the "monster dash", but the costumes were more funny than scary. runners lined up in grant park's arvey field this morning for a combined five-k, ten-k, and half marathon. before the race started there was a costume judging and live music that continued through the day. while costumes are encouraged, race organizers urge runners to practice running in them before race day to prevent any nasty accidents.
