this police superintendent was there to answer every question. is chicago putting enough cops on the streets to battle the murder rate that keeps the city in headlines all over the world? police superintendent gary mccarthy was they're dressed in uniform and surrounded by a fellow high ranking officer to answer any and all questions dealing with the department's approach to crime. mccarthy maintains that number is 12,500 and he likes where it is the police union says the real number is 700 officers less and they know.

there are 3000 chicago police officers that are retirement ready so the police department is doing very little to prepare for that. he appears frustrated by the number of non-emergency or less important service calls that his officers have to handle when there are bigger issues brewing in the street. >> this is a very complicated issue a dime less concerned about backing up their rio and more concerned with violence on the streets i understand we have to handle calls to service but
