operations here. they have refused to say much about their ongoing search. day five of this effort comes five years after the mysterious disappearance of stacy peterson. state police tell us that there is now tip or lead that instigated this week's efforts. the availability of fbi resources was apparently ideal for following up on old leads. >> hope they find her. her husband remains a prime suspect. a former officer was convicted of killing his third wife. back

in joliet about two months ago and was last seen running from his home, barefoot, on october 21st. police have taken her cell phone and vehicle from his house. she has a mole on the top edge of her hairline, and a scar on her left knee. if you have any information, give joliet police a call. the deceased teenager involved in a police shooting on the south side has been identified. 15-year-old dakota bright was shot and killed by police after he came out of an alley with a gun in his hand. according to police. it happened yesterday afternoon at 67th and indiana. police say bright was ordered to drop the gun. but he ran back into the alley then turned and aimed. police say, at that moment officers opened fire. the shooting is under investigation. cook county residents are facing new or higher taxes on guns, cigarettes and gambling. wgn's julian crews is live at the county building where county commissioners are voting on a 20-13 budget today.

of tax hikes expected to rise over $200 million. and also balance the budget of variety casts consolidating extra office space. reducing costs. in fact that is the sticking point right now. the meeting is running along here. commissioners debating the issue of funding for a hospital system. nevertheless a vote on the budget expected to take place here shortly. today the union

issued a statement saying no agreement was reached. the next negotiation meeting is planned for tuesday november 13th. if you're an illinois homeowner insured by state farm, get ready to pay a little more. the bloomington, illinois based company has announced a four point seven percent raise in homeowners' insurance. state farm insures one out of every three homes in illinois. insurers are generally charging more to insure homes. citing increasingly damaging storms in the midwest. if you're looking for full-time employment, the city of chicago is holding its first-ever job fair right now. it's being held at kennedy king college at 63rd and halsted street.

the city is looking to fill hundreds of positions. there are also openings at the c-t-a, chicago public schools the city colleges, the park district and the chicago housing authority. more than one-thousand people have passed through the fair so far. job hunters began lining up at five o'clock this morning, and the line is stretching for several blocks. mickey and minnie mouse made a special visit to chicago today. they came all the way from walt disney world to test the lights for the upcoming mag mile light's festival. the festival is november 17th at 5-30 p-m. mickey and minnie are once again the grand marshals of the event that includes lighting more than one million lights on 2-hundred trees.

politics as usual. the elected us to focus on your job's not ours. in that spirit i have invited leaders of both parties to the white house next week so we can start to build consensus around the challenges that we can only solve together. i intend to bring in business and labor and civic leaders from all across the country to get their ideas and input as well. at a time when our economy is still recovering. our top priority has to be jobs and growth. that is the focus of the plan that i talked about during the campaign. it is a plan to reward small businesses and manufacturers. it is a plan to give people the chance to get the education and training that businesses are looking for right now. it is a plan to make sure this country is a global leader.

it is a plan to pull folks back to work including our veterans. but as a plan to reduce our deficit and a balanced and responsible way. our work is made that much more urgent because at the end of this year we face a series of deadlines that requires us to make major decisions about how to pay our deficit ballot. balance. both now and in the future last year i worked with democrats and republicans to cut a trillion dollars worth of spending that we could not afford. i intend to work with both parties to do more. that includes making reforms that will bring down the cost of health care so that we can strengthen programs like medicare and medicaid for the long haul. as i have said

before we cannot just cut our way to prosperity. if we are serious about reducing the deficit we have to come by and spending cuts with revenue. that means asking the wealthiest americans to pay a little more in taxes. that is how we didn't it. that is how we did in the 1990's and bill clinton as president. that is how we can reduce the deficit while still making investments we need to build a strong middle class and a strong economy. that is the only way we can afford to train our workers. or make sure that good jobs and clean energy do not end up in countries like china. i have put forward a detailed plan that allows us to make these investments while reducing our deficit by four

trillion dollars over the next decade. i want to be clear. i'm open to compromise. i'm open to new ideas. i am committed to solving our fiscal challenges. but i refuse to accept any approach that is not balanced. i'm not going to ask students and seniors and middle-class families to pay down the entire deficit while people like me making over $250,000 are not asked to pay a dime more in taxes. i am not going to do that. this was a central question during the election. it was debated over and over again. on tuesday night we found out that the majority of americans agree with my approach. that

includes democrats independents, and a lot of republicans across the country. as well as it independent economists and budget experts. that is how you reduce the deficit with a balanced approach. for believe we can get the majority. i was encouraged to hear the speaker agreed that tax revenue has to be part of the equation. let me make one final point that every american needs to hear. right now if congress fails to come to an agreement on an overall deficit reduction package by the end of the year everybody's taxes will automatically go up on january 1st. including the 90 percent of americans who make less than $250,000 a year. that makes no sense. it would be bad for the

economy and would hit families that are already struggling to make ends meet. fortunately we should not need long negotiations or drama to solve that part of the problem. there may be disagreement in congress over whether or not to raise taxes on folks making over $250,000 a year. nobody not republicans or democrats want taxes to go for folks making under $250,000 a year. let's not wait. even as we are negotiating a broader deficit reduction package, let's extend the middle class tax cut right now. let's do that right now. that one step give millions of families the certainty that they need going

into the new year. it would immediately take a huge chunk of that economic uncertainty. consumers are not going to see a big tax increase. they know that most small businesses will not see a tax increase. a lot of the uncertainty you are reading about will be removed. in fact the senate has already passed a bill doing exactly this. all we need is action from the house. i have the pan ready to sign the bill right away. i am ready to do it. the american people understand that we're going to have disagreements. there will not tolerate politicians you

hurricane sandy and a powerful winter storm delivered a one-two punch to northeastern states. thousands are still without electricity. now, gasoline is in short supply. new york and long island have started gas- rationing today. rationing is likely to last for weeks. drivers are allowed to buy gas only on alternating days. and some drivers say that's just fine with them. the snow storm dumped more than a foot of snow in some areas of the northeast. power outages stretch from delaware to maine. and some 650-thousand customers have no electricity. what saved me three hours federal criminal charges will not be filed against former syracuse assistant basketball coach bernard "bernie" fine, who was accused of sexually abusing children, u.s. attorney
