overseas fighting a war in afghanistan, a group of veterans here in glendale heights alleged that a property management company ordered them to take down the flag pole along with the two flags. >> who are we to take out an american flag on the landscape of the american people? >> very shocked. i cannot imagine everybody wants -- i cannot imagine anybody wants to bring the flag down. >> there is deep disappointment at the vfw post in west suburban glendale heights. the post has occupied this strip for decades. a new order purchased the property in the summer. veterans say they started receiving a series of harshly written letters accusing these veterans of alleged lease violations such as broken beer bottles and accusations that

were unfounded and outrageous. the men say is to allow next- door frequented by young people is the source of the bottles. then there is a demand in the letter telling the post the could not park there van with a sign on it and leave it into a parking lot, calling it a violation of the lease. the last straw for these american veterans was able to demand prohibiting the two flags from flying outside. the men say they have tried unsuccessfully to meet with dawn stuart, the property mana ger. >> anybody wants to fly down as unpatriotic. no doubt about it. >> steve did not give us his last name. the company appears to be backpedaling. steve says they will not bring the flag down.

for the chicago area, maybe we will get a few flurries, but nothing else. we have mostly cloudy skies out there. temperatures today, they are shooting up in a hurry. we are up to 37 degrees at o'hare. you would not notice if you walk outdoors. the problem is that as the wind. we have a powerful wind that at the moment is causing wind chill values to make the airfield 10 degrees colder than the air temperature. 37 degrees at o'hare. over the canadian border, that is a brutally cold air. a big chunk is going to be coming in to chicago on sunday. monday but abysmal. -- monday looks abysmal. temperatures all across the area, they are mild for this time of year. it looks like everybody is going to share in that cool down. wind chill numbers, seven to 20s

all over the lake and the chicago area into the western suburbs. here is the problem. notice these winds coming out of the south there. we're seeing 15 to 30 miles per hour. take a look at the wind gust plot. a lot of people sharing in those strong winds. our forecast for the wind gust shows extremely strong gust going right on through the weekend. not only is the warm air been propelled, but the cold air will be pushed down with some force. this shows a pattern that we are expected to go into the first part of the week. sunday and monday, powerful winds coming out of the arctic. that is going to bring in that very chilly air. probably for the first time in two years we will see a temperature below zero. it is going to produce wind chill values on monday of around zero during the day.

there is the cold air. watch what happens as we move into the weekend. it does not last long. temperatures are not going to recover to the milder levels we have seen. on the radar satellite composite, not much happening locally. there is a little bit of snow across the lake and into michigan. in the upper peninsula they could see as many as 5 inches of snow there. this is north dakota. notice the plotting has increased. some snow belt over the area. that is going to be propelled by those very powerful winds. that is going to produce a miserable conditions. meanwhile, these are flood warnings to continue after a rainy. through sunday.

through the afternoon, we are looking at mostly cloudy skies winds blowing also stronger with a strong gust expected. 47 -- 37 to 42 should be the high today. tonight we are looking at partly cloudy skies. temperatures overnight, 32 to 36. on saturday, 40 to 45 degree temperatures. winds continue out of the south at 20 miles per hour. on sunday it will get cold. temperatures are probably one that only be in the teens. the really cold air coming in during the evening of sunday. that is going to make monday feel brutal. more on that coming up. >> it will not last long? >> we will have temperatures back to something we can manage after to the three days. >> time for today's trivia.
