hired a former district attorney and are working to have both coaches fired. cook county sheriff's police are searching for a man accused of beating a woman in the northwest suburbs authorities say joseph lopez junior severely beat a woman late tuesday night in unincorporated palatine. lopez is 34 years old. he is considered armed and dangerous.. the sheriff's office says lopez has threatened to shoot police officers who come into contact with him and to kill himself. annyone with information on lopez is asked to call authorities. a south side pastor's donation to a politician on parole. creates another round of legal charges. pastor corey brooks, of new beginnings church, gave 200- thousand dollars to former detroit mayor kwame kilpatrick. kilpatrick resigned from office in 2008 following a texting- scandal. he is currently facing federal racketeering charges. last night, he was served with 14 parole violations. he allegedly transferred and inaccurately reported money transfers, including from pastor brooks. he has agreed to waive the parole violation process and serve three days in custody.

attorneys for three men accused of plotting to use firebombs during last year's nato summit in chicago are asking the charges be dismissed. jared chase, brent betterly and brian church are accused of trying to make molotov cocktails, with the intent to use them during the protests at last may's summit. in court this morning, their lawyers asked the judge to dismiss the terrorism counts against the suspects. the attorneys claim the illinois statute defining terrorism passed after 9-11, is constituationally vague and allows for arbitrary enforcement of terrorism charges. at a loss for the discriminatory use of that statute by law enforcement to target people because of their political beliefs and in an arbitrary and unfair way. is the last day for canada to apply for the chance to be the next alderman. sandy jackson announced a few weeks ago that she was retiring for safety reasons. a special

commission will submit a list of finalists to the mayor. the deadline for applying his 5:00 p.m. today. rooftop owners around wrigley field have come up with an idea. the rooftop association just unveiled what they say is a win with advertising plan for the cubs. they're quite concerned they will be put out of business if the team put up billboards blocking their rooftop bleacher views. the 16 rooftop owners believe a compromise is a digital displays. right on their buildings. the advertising sales and revenue will be handled by the cubs. supporters feel the

mcdonough will take over the job. mcdonough is seen here on the left. prior to this position he served as deputy national security advisor to the president. during this time, he played a role in scaling back the u-s' combat role in afghanistan and was involved in the operation that killed osama bin laden. he joined the obama team during the 2008 presidential campaign. u-s safety officials aren't close to finishing an investigation into a battery fire on a boeing 7-87 dreamliner. the dreamliner has been grounded worldwide due to a battery fire in boston earlier this month. the national transportation safety board revealed yesterday that safety systems designed to prevent a battery fire on that plane, failed. investigators also found a series of faulty "symptoms" in that battery but that's not the underlying problem. officials say it could take weeks before they know when the 7-87 will fly again.

the 16-member sandy hook advisory commission met for the first time. their objective is to review school safety, gun control laws and mental health issues in light of the shooting in newtown, connecticut last month. yesterday, the commission received an update on the investigation into the shooting at sandy hook elementary school in which 20 children and six adults were killed. the commission's recommendations are expected in march. a bi-partisan committee of lawmakers is also expected to come up with their own ideas and legislation their deadline is next month. by the federal building with more. as you mentioned what happened in connecticut has made the issue of gun control much more serious pfft. sale of

outdoor sports show at the donald e. stephens convention center. the gun show released very strict rules for attendees. no gun selling or trading. vendors will not be selling ammo. attendees will not be able to enter the show with personally owned guns. and there will be a limited number of guns for sale. however, gun safety, self defense and illinois gun laws will be discussed. the chicagoland gun show runs today through sunday. he'll be the next chairman of the subcommittee when the panel organizes next month. he takes over the role held by the late senator who died last month. he has served on the house and senate appropriations committee for 26 years. he says he looks forward to serving in this new capacity and making sure service members continue to have the support they and their families deserve. above normal is what it has been over the last five days. and what is the biggest arctic blast in three years. we have some pretty quiet winters in terms of temperature. the winter before is no bargain. today will be the sixth day that we have a below normal temperature. we're going to jump out next week. what we are not done with is the snow. nicosia moving quickly off to the east. produced anywhere from a dusting to perhaps an inch or a little more of snow across the metro area. that could become a factor for us.
