in his '30's went into the water this evening and went under the water. temperatures were in the '50s and that will sap your strength quickly. he was in critical condition when he was taken out of the water and he died a short time later. the victim was out of the water and rescuers started cpr, and they kept at it as their role the structure of the pier and the lifesaving effort continued to nearby st. joseph's hospital. witnesses pointed out the exact spot where the mccoy went down and his body was moved a short distance by a strong current. we had three divers and the water. the water was cold and a visibility was poor and the clock was ticking. this fire department diver found the victim face down all the bottom. of the trading pulled off. every day trading day and night, at this is what we trained for.

wall of a house, barely missing the owner who works from home. i just heard gunshots and when i came, i actually talked to look out this way and to see if i could see it that was coming from the west and. when i came up here i saw the bullet holes and then i looked over there and i saw them in the wall. detectives are investigating and if you know anything about those shootings you should call police. in a hospital bed with a breathing tube] after being shot while riding in his mother's car, 9-year-old tykeece hilliard is recovering tonight at comer children's hospital. he's expected to be okay. meantime chicago police are hunting for the gunman. the boy's mother says she had her six kids in the car yesterday at 67th and evans when she heard gunfire. police say the shooter was aiming at her male friend in the front seat. when tykeece said he was shot, his mom drove straight to the hospital. my reaction was to save my son.

that is all i can do. that is my baby, save my son. asked about the man who was with her in the car, the mother replied, "i have never put any of my children in harm's way." wilmette police solving one mystery surrounding the murder of a 20-year-old man. authorities have found colin nutter's car. they asked for the public's help to track down the 2004 dodge stratus and did so yesterday afternoon. no word on where they picked it up or what they learned from it. nutter was found shot to death monday morning on frontage road just east of the edens expressway. tonight, profiles in courage. the parents of a girl killed in her suburban home show up for the suspect's every hearing. john and brenda o'laughlin want justice for kelli joy, but say it's not how they're finding closure. john wilson allegedly killed the 14-year-old in a 2011 burglary of their indian head park home. today the career criminal was denied a motion for a new judge. the o'laughlin's call it a stalling tactic. their solace is in keeping kelli's memory alive.

another hit, now at an all-time low. the governor is calling lawmakers to a special session focused on solving the state's pension crisis. wgn's gaynor hall joins us with the details. gaynor? first fitch, now moody's. both downgrading illinois' credit rating this week. and still no agreement from lawmakers on how to fix the 100 billion dollar pension debt that's gobbling up the state's finances. governor pat quinn calling lawmakers back to work on june 19 to deal with the pension "emergency." in a statement saying, "time and time again over the past two years, i have proposed, asked and pushed members of the general assembly to send me a comprehensive pension reform bill. time and time again, failure to act by deadlines has resulted in the bond rating agencies lowering our credit rating, which hurts our economy, wastes taxpayer money and shortchanges the education of our children." also at stake is quinn's future. he's up for re-election next year. republican state treasurer dan rutherford, who announced he's running for governor, says the problem is leadership. "i hope they don't do what the governor did in 2012, spent tens of thousands and dollars on a special session, and they walked away from there not resolving the state public pension issue." the spring legislative session ended last week with no deal on competing bills passed in the state house and the senate. house speaker michael madigan's plan, supported by the business community, pegs the most savings by cutting back on pension benefits for retirees and current state workers. senate president john cullerton's plan, supported by the unions, takes a more cautious approach, tying pension benefits to health coverage. the

governor called a meeting with both leaders earlier this week. madigan didnt show up. his spokesperson says: he wasn't available. senate republican leader christine radogno says she's not sure the democrats will be able break out of the dysfunction. "i'm not terribly optimistic because i've seen no change in dynamic from the stalemate that occured a week ago and now." and as the stalemate continues, the cost to taxpayers? the governor's office estimates 17 million dollars for each day without pension reform. "we cannot afford to have the worst rated credit. it's costing us hundreds of millions more than surrounding states to borrow money. our cost of government is going up and the quality of services is going down." keep in mind - legislation with an immediate effective date would require a super-majority to pass in the special session. in addition to pensions, senate

tight-knit hockey community. the allegations are disturbing. the coach of young men and boys is accused of sinking so low as to attack another man's children. in 2011 the man was fired as hockey director of the willamette hockey association and almost immediately the cyber bullying of the association president began. it was on the ending. they let the man go but he and young children were the victim of anonymous bush's comments on a hockey blog there were ongoing, it's not just about myself or the hockey association but also about my children and wife that was frankly very disturbing and troubling. he hired an attorney and

investigated and found the ip address went to the address of bob melton. more than anything else i want my family to stop being the victim of cyber harassment and cyber bullying. the man is well known in hockey circles and he has been the coach of new trier for a number of years. he was inducted into the illinois hockey hall of fame as a player and smith said he was surprised that the trail led to melton. it filed a civil lawsuit for defamation of character emotional distress and invasion of privacy. the most important thing is that this be exposed and this behavior cease. bob melton did not want to go on camera but he says the
