being conducted today.. for a security guard who died after trying to break up a fight at a high school in the south suburbs. wgn's nancy loo has the latest from south holland. cool officials are not commenting about the deadly incident. because of an internal review. students and staff are morning richard who attended the school decades earlier before returning to work witas a security work as a security guard. counselors on hand due to the sudden death of the school security guard. the 54 year-old died after stepping in to prepare fight between two female students. somehow fell into a locker and died after being rushed to the hospital. but they do not believe the fight caused the death. they're both wonderful students. good parent involvement and everything. it is just a tragic incident that we are all sorry that it happened. an autopsy

police stressed the investigation is ongoing and they plan to look at all surveillance video from inside the school also talking to all witnesses who are in that hallway when the fight broke out. a heart attack is what killed a high school football player in indiana. 17 year-old jake west was a varsity linebacker for laporte high school. he suddenly collapsed as he ran laps during practice on wednesday. an autopsy shows he had a genetic condition that caused him to go into cardiac arrest. his teammates will wear special stickers on their helmets in honor of him... in tonight's game against merrillville. the reverend al sharpton is urging the city's african american clergy to embrace chicago's first gang peace summit in two decades. the event's organizer is the reverend gregory tatum, from california. sharpton is concerned that some clergy will turn their backs on the summit- becuase tatum isn't from chicago. the gang peace summit ie being held today and tomorrow at the house of hope church on east 114th street. authorities have charged nine leaders

of a chicago street gang with murder and other violent crimes. the charges stem from a combined effort between the chicago police department, the u-s attorney's office. the f-b-i and the i- r-s. four of the gang members are charged with fatally shooting five people between 20-06 and 20-09. all nine are charged with rackteering conspiracy. chicago police officers shot and wounded a woman who they say was pointing a gun at them. it happened last night in the 1- thousand block of west cullerton. police responded to reports of a woman walking around with a gun. they approached her in an alley.. that's when they say, she pointed her gun at them. officers shot her several times. the weapon turned out to be a b-b gun. the woman was taken to stroger hospital. her condition is not known. a woman, who was driving without a valid license is charged in yesterday's deadly rollover crash on the eisenhower expressway... four people were killed, and four others were injured in that crash. authorities say 31- year-old margo note: santillan was transporting seven workers to a job in the western suburbs. they say she was

driving too fast and lost control of her s-u-v. seven people were ejected from the vehicle and one was trapped underneath. police are citing for failure to reduce speed and improper lane usage...among other charges. how did she pull it off? we're now learning how the former comptroller of dixon, illinois was able to steal 54 million dollars from the city?. lawyers for rita crundwell say a dixon bank allowed her to open a secret account in the city's name without proper documentation then deposit checks simply made out to "treasurer." crundwell created dozens of fictitious invoices for made up capital projects .. but her lawyers say auditors never took any of the standard steps to verify the work and didn't raise questions about problems with the paperwork. crundwell's schemes went on for 22 years. the auditors and the bank settled with the city for 40 million dollars. crundwell pleaded guilty to embezzlement and is now serving a 20- year prison sentence,

benedictine univesity is now banning all alcohol at apartments and dorms on its west suburban lisle campus. it follows claims by two young women.who say they were sexually assaulted in a dormitory. the ban also includes the campus residences of students 21 and over. school officials say. if any student is caught with alcohol on campus, they could lose their housing privleges. the move comes less than two weeks after the two women said they assaulted after leaving a party where alcohol was served. charges aren't being pursued in the case. police say there's not enough evidence. one of the biggest advantages of the demolition of the tollway's best known pit stop: drivers should save up to 27 minutes on a trip from elgin to the kennedy expressway. the des plaines oasis overlooking the jane addams memorial tollway ... will be torn down next spring to make room for lane expansions. the tollway will go from three to four lanes both ways. demolition also clears the way for the extension of the elgin-o'hare expressway. the popular meeting place has been there

demands that syria end its chemical weapons program by middle of next year. the resolution does not authorize the use of military force. new developments in the murder trial of former n-f-l star aaron hernandez. a massachusetts grand jury indicted an associate of hernandez 27 year old carlos ortiz. he's facing one count of accessory to murder after the fact in the killing of odin lloyd on june 17th. hernandez pleaded not guilty earlier this month to first degree murder. a third charged in the case -- ernest wallace pleaded not guilty last week. yesterday he told a judge that hernandez was the only one who got out of the car with lloyd before he was shot, execution- style. wallace argued unsuccessfully for a reduced bond, while he awaits trial as an accessory to murder. a pilot has died after suffereing a heart attack mid- flight, forcing a united airlines plane to make an emrgency landing.

united flight 16-03 was en route from houston to seattle last night, when it landed in boise, idaho. the pilot had a heart attack mid- flight. paramedics boarded the plane after it landed and rushed him to a nearby hospital where he later died. the airline is not releasing the pilot's name at this time. the flight's passengers were eventually put on another plane to seattle. a small fire broke out on a passenger plane yesterday. turns out, it was a shorted out camera battery. the american airlines flight was on its way from from chicago to saint louis, when the passengers spotted smoke. coming from an overhead bin. firefighters put out the fire. no injuries were reported. we're 95-percent sure humans have caused at least half the climate change in the last century. leading to global warming. that's what scientists are saying in a new report. the report released today by the united nations predicts temperatures will rise between half-a- degree and eight- point six degrees farenheit this century. and polar ice is expected to melt raising sea levels between ten and 32 inches.
